Wandelen in Aldeneik
Vlak bij het charmante stadje Maaseik, ligt Aldeneik, de wieg van Maaseik. Achter het oude munsterkerkje uit de 11de eeuw ligt een erg mooi natuurgebied dat in ieder seizoen uitnodigt om er te wandelen of te fietsen. Wandel met ons mee de winter in, de lente door en de zomer uit. Laat ons hopen dat tegen die tijd Corona de wereld uit is. In afwachting: alvast veel kijk- en vooral veel wandel- of fietsplezier!
Près de la charmante ville de Maaseik, se trouve Aldeneik, le berceau de Maaseik. Derrière l'ancienne petite église du XIe siècle se trouve une très belle réserve naturelle, qui vous invite à marcher ou à faire du vélo en toute saison. Marchez avec nous en hiver, au printemps et en été. Espérons que d'ici là, Corona est hors du monde. En prévision: beaucoup de plaisir visuel et surtout beaucoup de plaisir à pied ou à vélo!

Wandelen in de Volsbergsebossen in Hulsen (Balen) | Wandelen in de Kempen | Wandel TV
Deze mooie wandeling door een gedeelte van de Belgische Kempen gaat door een verrassend landschap. De idyllische stroom De Grote Nete, heidenveldjes en zandverstuivingen zijn de hoofdingrediënten voor deze heerlijke tocht.
Je start de wandeling in het gehucht Hulsen in Balen. De huizen liggen voornamelijk rondom de centrale Sint-Hubertuskerk. De kerk zelf is mooi, zeker de moeite van een bezoekje waard zijn de houten beelden in de kerk.
Vanuit Hulsen wandel je aan de noordkant van het gehucht door de Volsbergenbossen. Dit unieke stukje natuur is een onderdeel van het landduinenlandschap van Balen. Landduinen zijn zandige heuvels die ontstaan zijn na de laatste ijstijd, door het uitwaaien van zand uit de rivieren. Dit landschap is nauw verbonden met de vallei van de Nete; een specifiek landschap van hoge, droge landduinen en lage, natte beekvalleien. De landduinen zijn door Europa beschermd omdat ze een specifieke wereld van planten en dieren herbergen.
In het piepkleine gehuchtje Lil passeer je de Sint-Elisabethkapel, een gedachteniskerkje met een rijke geschiedenis. Volgens de volksoverlevering is het een voormalige melaatsenkapel. De kapel werd eind 16de eeuw opgericht. Op 12 september 1797 had het Franse leger een zware nederlaag geleden in de Boerenkrijg.
Een schilderachtige stroom verrast je achter iedere bocht. Aan de ene kant van de Grote Nete zorgen de weiden voor de groene kleur en geven de aangelegde vijvers het landschap een idyllisch tintje. Aan de andere kant zie je de hoger gelegen akkers van het Zavelsveld en het Lilsveld. Zo loop je langzaam weer terug richting Hulsen en sla je net voor de bebouwde kom weer af naar de startplek. De vallei van de Grote Nete loopt nog veel verder door.

SLECHTSTE DIERENTUIN van BELGIË?! [Pakawi Park]
Deze week nemen we een kijkje in Pakawi Park in Balen, België.
Een park wat ruim 40 jaar geleden is ontstaan als hobby.
Vroeger heette het park Olmense Zoo en in 2019 heeft het pas de naam Pakawi Park gekregen.
Bij binnenkomst was het wel even slikken. Wat een oude en kleine hokken! De dieren zaten er wat verloren bij en de meeste aankleding was afbladderde verf. Verder in het park werd het gelukkig iets beter. Er word sinds de overname geïnvesteerd in nieuwe en grotere verblijven. Zo staat er een gloednieuw tijgerverblijf en word er gewerkt aan een nieuw verblijf voor de chimpansees. Het is voor Pakawi Park geen makkelijke tijd. Vlak na de overname kwam de corona pandemie en tot overmaat van ramp overleed vlak na de heropening 1 van de iconen van de dierentuin tijger Paka. Wellicht is dit een van de redenen dat het overgrote deel van de dierentuin eruit ziet alsof de laatste kwast in 1976 is aangeraakt. Benieuwd? Check onze review!

Pakawi Park, Olmen, Belgium
Pakawi Park is a zoo in Olmen, Belgium. it is a smaller zoo very suitable for families & children. They have a nice variaty of big cats. There are a lot of different other animals including wolves. They have a great bird aviary where you can walk in.
They have also a enormous collection of butterflies on display. This is a great way to find out about all of the different species.
It is a local zoo. It is nice to just go watch all of the animals here.

Dupa cum va spuneam saptamana trecuta in prezentarea trusei de salau pentru pescuitul salaului pe care am luat-o cu mine, am ales Belgia, in primul rand pentru ca temperaturile erau mai mari decat la noi, era mai abordabila logistic comparativ cu Delta Dunarii, si mi s-a parut ceva mai exotic...
Intamplarea face ca am luat temperaturile mici de-acasa cu mine in valiza. Se pare ca se tin lant partidele de genul acesta in ianuarie 2020... una dupa alta, una dupa alta ... :D.
Chiar si asa, am reusit sa aduc cativa salai in fata camerei de luat vederi cu o naluca de care am uitat complet, dar care acum are loc de cinste in trusa de salau... Sigur nu mai plec de-acasa fara dansa.
