This is a bike tour starting at Balatonalmádi to Tihany. This route is only 26 kms long and it is mainly flat and going through multiple towns with the main one being Balatonfüred. Lake Balaton is the biggest lake in Hungary and one of the biggest in mainland Europe. You can bike all of 197kms of shoreline and most people do it in multiple days. It is a popular holiday destination for locals and tourists alike.

Hitchhiking at Balaton Lake in Hungary - Travel Vlog
A couple of days ago when I was hitchhiking along the Balaton Lake, a wonderful location in Hungary. Feels to me this Balaton Lake was just made for travelers, with lots of nice towns around, with beaches and so on. This is one of my top travel destinations in Hungary, so far. Cities visited: Keszthely, Balatonfüred, and Balatonalmádi at the lake.
Fun Fact: Lake Balaton is the biggest central European lake, and I can recommend it over seeing those touristy ones in Northern Italy. Also prices are cheaper in Hungary!

Lake Balaton is a freshwater lake in the Transdanubian region of Hungary. It is the largest lake in Central Europe, and one of the region's foremost tourist destinations. The Zala River provides the largest inflow of water to the lake, and the canalised Sió is the only outflow.

Lake Balaton in Hungary is the largest lake in central Europe with a length of 79 kilometers. Approximately 250 different species of birds live here. The Balaton Uplands National Park and the buffalo reserve are also attractions that should be visited from your NOVASOL holiday home by Lake Balaton. All year round, Central Europe's largest lake provides unforgettable experiences. Every summer, the nearly 600 km2 lake easily warms up, with its gradual depth appealing to those who want to splash around.
Lake Balaton reminds me of lake Bosomtwe in Ghana, Balaton is much bigger but lake Bosomtwe is more interesting in my opinion because it sits in an impact crater! Beware, everything is more expensive at Balaton but it's worth it because the fun is endless!

Lake Balaton, Hungary top sights (I love you baby - Surf Mesa - Illy)
Lake Balaton is the biggest lake in central Europe, and it is situated about 100 km south west of Budapest. It has a length of 77 km and a width of 14 km. It is huge! You will understand once you are there and you see it with your own eyes. It has many small towns around the lake that are very nice and quiet and of course, some that are the opposite of quiet :) You have probably heard about the Balaton Music Festivals. These festivals are held in Zamardi, which is a smaller town close to Siofok. This area has a very big beach area and it caters the crowds going to enjoy music, drinks and parties.
If you like more of quiet and nature oriented set up, one of the best spots is Tihany. This place has a small hill with a church at the top that overlooks the lake and it is a very beautiful small town. The beach here is also very nice and you can swim for hundreds of meters without being disturbed. Also, in the months of July and August they have a Lavender field that is open to the public.They have everything lavender in Tihany, soaps, syrup, shampoo, creams, even lavender beer ( which is actually pretty decent) Speaking of lavender, the best and most beautiful lavender fields in Balaton that I found while I was there were Koroshegy (where they have fields on the side of the hill and you can pick your own lavender for a small fee), and Felsodorgicsei (where the lavender fields and the church in the background make for a beautiful scene to enjoy).
Also, do not forget to see the Szigliget Castle (castle ruins next to the lake) and the Sumeg Castle, where you can catch some amazing sunset colors.
If you stay in Tihany, you can reach all of the places I mentioned above within 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes driving along the small roads.
Finally, this whole area has sunflower fields that extend for miles and vineyards everywhere. The local shops have wine for sale from their vineyards, wine tastings and also some really good lavender syrups.
