이번 여행의 마지막 코스인 바코 국립공원으로 가는 길. 그저 바라만 보아도 가슴이 탁 트인다. 어제 보았던 맹그로브 나무들이 여기엔 울창한 숲을 이루고 있다. 바다를 정화시키는 역할도 한다는데 다시 봐도 정말 신기하다. 바다 위 무릉도원을 거니는 느낌이랄까. 그 뿐이 아니다. 숲 주변 곳곳에 나의 시선을 잡아끄는 생명의 세계가 있다. 블루크랩이라고 해야 하나. 신기함에 그저 넋 놓고 쳐다볼 수밖에 없다. 집게 팔이 하나 밖에 없는 롱게들. 마주치는 하나하나가 모두 호기심을 잔뜩 불러일으키는 데 너무 즐겁다. 바코 공원에서 빼놓을 수 없는 것이 정글트래킹인데 2시간에서 8시간까지 다양한 코스들이 있으며 숙박 시설도 갖추어져 있다. 찔리면 비명이 터져 나올 것 같은 나무. 버섯 같아서 먹어볼까하다가 혹시 몰라서 참았다. 원숭이들은 우리와 숨바꼭질을 하듯 간간히 모습을 드러낼 뿐이다. 나무 기둥 속의 벌집이다. 바위 틈 사이에 피어 있는 한 송이 꽃. 꺾고 싶은 마음을 꾹 눌렀다. 정글 트래킹은 미지의 세계를 탐험하는 것 같은 신비함이 있다. 바코 국립공원에 오면 꼭 들려야 한다고 해서 찾아간 곳. 기암괴석들이 장관을 이룬다. 코브라를 닮았다고 해서 코브라 바위란다. 진짜 똑같다. 이것은 사람 같기도 하고, 개 같기도 하고. 예술적인 조각품 같다. 수만 년의 세월동안 잘 보존되어 보는 이들에게 경이로움을 선사하고 그래서 마지막으로 남아 있는 지구의 허파라고 불리는 쿠칭의 자연경관들. 그 아름다움이 영원하기를 기원한다.

In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.
Throughout my journey, I was raising money for a young disabled child in Poland named Franek. Franek was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (weakness of the entire right side of the body) and he will require constant rehabilitation for the rest of his life. All the money raised will go directly to helping Franek and his family so he can lead a normal life as best as possible, so please donate generously:
