INSIDE THE ANCIENT CITY OF BADAGRY

Badagry is a coastal town and local government area in Lagos State, Nigeria. It is between the city of Lagos and the border with #Benin at #Seme. #Badagry is situated on the south-west coast of Nigeria, bordered by the Gulf of Guinea to the south, it is 43 miles southeast of #Lagos and 32 miles west of Seme, a border town in Benin Republic.

Serving as a lagoon and an Atlantic port, Badagry emerged as a commercial center on the West African coast between 1736 and 1851. Its connecting and navigable lakes, creeks and inland lagoons acted as a means to facilitate trade and as a security bar for residents. During the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, the town was a middleman between European traders on the coast and traders from the hinterland. Today, it house the first story building and the first primary school in #Nigeria, among others.

I spent on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, exploring the ancient city and filmed as much as I could for you guys. This video contains a lot of historical tales of slave trade as well as the tales of the first missionaries in Nigeria, among others. I hope you like you! And if you do, kindly smash the like button. Lagos International Trade Fair Complex -Badagry #nigeria #badagry #lagos #africa #projects

Today we are bringing you another amazing content from our visit to Lagos Nigeria and that is the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex.

Just when I thought I have seen it all here in Lagos then I came across this mind blowing project which is just massive.
Ok so what you are seeing in your shots right now are not residential buildings but rather warehouses. I mean warehouses where people keep their goods, when I got here with my brother Sunny Chima I thought these are some sort of estate until my brother told me, no these are where the bulk goods are kept. I was like wow I just can’t believe this.

The establishment is a 350 hectare facility along Lagos-Badagry expressway hosting a number of market traders. The facility was constructed in the 1970s and planned to host an international trade fair upon fulfillment. In 2002, jewelry, auto spare parts and other consumer goods traders from Balogun Market on Lagos Island relocated to the complex. Today, the complex host traders representing a number of trade factions including Balogun Business Association, Auto Spare Parts And Machineries Dealers Association (ASPMDA), and jewelers under the banner of Association of Progressive Traders.

The facility was designed by Zoran Bojović and constructed by Energoprojeckt in partnership with the Nigerian government, it was opened in 1977 to coincide with the first Lagos International Trade Fair. At fulfillment, it was the biggest project of Energoprojekt in Nigeria. The company and its designers including Bojovic also executed projects in Kano and Yola. It is theorized by Rem Koolhaas that Bojovic incorporated some of the architectural forms found in Kano into the designs of the trade fair complex.

The design of the complex placed emphasis on exposition pavilions, a demonstration hall was dedicated to the federal government while state governments also had their own halls, two halls were each dedicated to Nigerian and international corporations. Other facilities within the complex was a recreation park and an artificial lake adjacent to the park, a number of chalets, a press center, shopping stalls and a festival square.

Over the years, the infrastructure within the complex have been poorly maintained. The complex was concenssioned to a private firm in 2007 but that approval was abolished in 2018.

Thank you guys for the support always and we promise to bring to your screens amazing content always

Beach Camping Trip To Gberefu Island, Badagry, Lagos

I took a beach camping trip with 7 friends to Ilaje Fishing Village. This village is on Gberefu Island, and it is the Point of No Return for slaves who were taken away from their homes by the colony masters. It’s a village in Badagry, Lagos. It has the building erected to portray how slaves were taken from Nigeria and never returned. We camped on the beach with our tents. It is peaceful and serene. It has crabs in the water that makes it impossible to swim. You should absolutely visit this hidden gem if you are in Nigeria.
