The Black Forest is a large forested mountain range in the state of Baden-Württemberg in south-west of Germany.
It is bounded by the Rhine valley to the west and south.
Its highest peak is the Feldberg with an elevation of 1,493 metres.
The region is roughly oblong in shape with a length of 160 kilometres and breadth of up to 50 kilometres.
The main industry of the Black Forest is tourism. Black Forest Tourism assesses that there are around 140,000 direct full-time jobs in the tourist sector and around 34.8 million tourist overnight stays in 2009.
In spring, summer and autumn an extensive network of hiking trails and mountain bike routes enable different groups of people to use the natural region.
In winter, of course, it is the various types of winter sport that come to the fore.
There are facilities for both downhill and Nordic skiing in many places.
The most heavily frequented tourist destinations and resorts in the Black Forest are the Titisee and the Schluchsee.
Both lakes offer opportunities for water sports like diving and windsurfing.
From Freiburg these lakes may be reached on the B 31 through the Höllental, via the Hirschsprung monument located at the narrowest point in the valley, and the Oswald Chapel below the Ravenna Gorge.
One oft-visited town is Baden-Baden with its thermal baths and festival hall.
Other thermal baths are found in the spa resorts of Badenweiler, Bad Herrenalb, Bad Wildbad, Bad Krozingen, Bad Liebenzell and Bad Bellingen.
Noted for their fine interiors are the former monastery of St. Blasien as well as the abbeys of Sankt Trudpert, St. Peter and St. Märgen.
Alpirsbach Abbey and the ruined Hirsau Abbey were built of red sandstone in the Hirsau style.
The Murg valley, the Kinzig valley, the Triberg Waterfalls and the Open Air Museum at Vogtsbauernhof are also very popular.
There are well known winter sports areas around the Feldberg, near Todtnau with its FIS downhill ski run of Fahler Loch and in Hinterzarten, a centre and talent forge for German ski jumpers.
In the Northern Black Forest the winter sports areas are concentrated along the Black Forest High Road and on the ridge between the Murg and Enz rivers around Kaltenbronn.
The height differences in the mountains are used in many places for hang gliding and paragliding.

1. All Saint’s Waterfall in the town of Oppenau. The town itself is a pretty valley view town with some amazing landscape and also marks the beginning of Black Forest. It gives you a good hiking experience.
2. Baiersbronn: Amazing Hiking Route. The hiking time here is almost around 2 hours. It also has a valley view.
3. Baden Baden : Caracalla Bath Spa. The sauna here is nude however the thermal bath is allowed with swim suit along.
There are various thermal baths around the town. Some thermal baths are nude baths and some allow clothes on. Check the website for more options. The CARACALLA being one of the oldest.

The best of the experience on a vacation is a thermal bath. Also believed the water contains various mineral salts which helps in curing diseases.
The town of Baden Baden is also ancient and has some Roman Culture & Ruins remaining.

Visit to the Black Forest treetop path including the observation tower | Bad Wildbad, Germany 2023
The Black Forest treetop path is a 1250-meter-long treetop path on the Sommerberg west of Bad Wildbad in the Calw district of Baden-Württemberg at an altitude of about 750 meters above sea level and was built according to plans by Schönberg architect Josef Stöger. The facility, which opened in 2014, offers interesting facts about the forest and its wildlife at various information stations, as well as an observation tower.
The treetop path runs along a length of about 636 meters and a height above ground between about 4 and 20 meters. It follows the terrain with a steady slight incline and offers various educational stations as well as adventure stations such as balancing beams or wobble elements. In addition, there are 15 comic boards along the trail, which are intended to provide excitement and impart knowledge to children in particular as part of a tree-top trail comic rally.
The entire trail, including the ramp in the observation tower, is barrier-free and reaches a maximum gradient of 6%.
At the end of the path you reach a 38.5 m high observation tower, which is mainly made of wood and looks like a large twisted cup due to the arrangement of the twelve doubly inclined, layer-glued main supports. The supports are rotationally symmetrical, equally spaced, and inclined both outwardly and laterally in a clockwise direction. They are connected by steel tubes, cross-braced several times and partially protected against weather by sheet metal cladding.
Access from the path to the tower is at a height of about five meters at the second turn of the 614 m long ascent ramp running inside the supporting columns, which reaches the dodecagonal, roughly ring-shaped viewing platform after a total of nine turns. This is attached to the outside of the supports by steel cantilever girders and offers a view as far as the Black Forest, the Rhine Valley and the Swabian Alb. Orientation arrows to viewing destinations and to the other tree-top trails of the supporting company are attached to the parapet.
At a height of 25 m, between the ascent ramp and a tubular steel support in the center of the tower, there is a triangular platform from which a 55 m long tunnel slide inside the tower leads helically in several turns to the ground.

Bad Wildbad in the northern Black Forest is a royal spa town with experiences close to nature. Whether you are a nature lover, on a family vacation, a cultural interest or for wellness: Bad Wildbad is worth a visit all year round. Surrounded by the Black Forest, the town is located in the Black Forest Central/North Nature Park. The six districts of Bad Wildbad are beautiful gems, most of which are located on high ground. Already in the 19th century the city was a popular vacation destination as a spa. Today the city convinces not only with its bathing culture, but also with a natural adventure in the Black Forest.
The Forum König-Karls-Bad, built in neo-Baroque style in 1890/1892, is one of the most impressive 19th century bathing buildings in Baden-Württemberg. The building, which is representative both outside and inside, used to house bathing cabins, therapy rooms and lounges. Today, the Forum König-Karls-Bad is a special place for concerts, conferences, events and for lingering. It also houses the KiWi cinema and the reading room. The foyer and staircase with their paintings and colored glass windows, as well as the domed hall with its tapestries and ceiling paintings, offer a particularly stylish ambience. Four seminar rooms with the latest conference technology are available on the upper floor. On the first floor, the Great Hall can accommodate about 150 people. The rooms on the upper and first floor can be rented for events and celebrations.

Mit der Sommerbergbahn, Baden Württembergs höchster Standseilbahn, geht es in nur 7 Minuten, vom Zentrum Bad Wildbads hoch auf den Sommerberg. Auf dem Berg angelangt erwartet Besucher hier, neben der fantastischen Aussicht auf den Kurort Bad Wildbad, das Enztal und den Schwarzwald, eine ganze Fülle von Freizeitgestaltungsmöglichkeiten: Wandern, Biken im Bike Park, Nordic Walking auf ausgeschilderten Nordic Walking-Strecken oder einfach nur die Seele baumeln lassen, in eine der Hütten einkehren und das milde Reizklima auf sich wirken lassen.
Wandern auf dem Sommerberg
Ein ausgeschildertes Wanderwegenetz von insgesamt 235 Kilometern, darunter 6 spezielle Sommerberg-Rundwege oder die Routen in das Naturschutzgebiet Wildseemoor auf den Hochflächen zwischen dem Sommerberg und Kaltenbronn machen das Gebiet auf dem Sommerberg zu einem einmalig attraktiven Wanderparadies.
