Travelling on every type of V/Line train in ONE DAY! Long-distance rail travel in Victoria

I'm now in Melbourne, Victoria. In the past 12 months, I reviewed regional trains in Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia, I have also travelled on Journey Beyond's luxury trains, namely the Ghan, Indian Pacific and Great Southern.
However, I didn't get to pay much attention to V/Line services here in Australia. Therefore, after a few hours of planning in front of my laptop, today I've come up with an idea of travelling on every type of passenger train in the current V/Line fleet in one day!

As of 4 May 2022, V/Line passenger train fleet include:
Broad gauge VLocity (3VL0–3VL28, 3VL30–3VL75, 3VR76–3VR79, 3VL80–3VL92)
Standard gauge VLocity (3VS93–3VS94)
Broad gauge Sprinter
Broad gauge N set
Standard gauge N set
Broad gauge H set
Z type carriage (incorporated into the N sets)*

My plan for this challenge is to catch 8 trains:
5:13am - 5:58am Melbourne - Bacchus Marsh (Broad VLocity)
6:19am - 7:14am Bacchus Marsh - Melbourne (Broad H set)
7:46am - 8:45am Melbourne - Geelong (Broad N set, First Class)
9:30am - 10:35am Geelong - Melbourne (Broad VLocity)
1:36pm - 2:59pm Melbourne - Seymour (Broad Sprinter)
3:09pm - 4:40pm Seymour - Melbourne (Standard N set, Economy Class)
5:33pm - 7:11pm Melbourne - Seymour (Broad Sprinter)
7:44pm - 9:45pm Seymour - Melbourne (Standard VLocity)

I'll start my day at4:30am, if everything goes smoothly, I'll be able to finish my day by10:00pm. How did I go? You can find out in this video!!

Aerial view - Historical Maps : Colbinabbin Silo Art - Victoria Australia

Colbinabbin is a small town in central Victoria, Australia. The name is derived from aboriginal meaning the meeting of the black and red soils. [citation needed] At the 2011 census, Colbinabbin and the surrounding area had a population of 297

Located on the banks of Cornella Creek, Colbinabbin was first settled in the 1850s. A township was established in the 1870s, the Post Office opening on 9 August 1872.

In the 1930s the area had significant change with the construction of the Waranga - Mallee channel, which bisects the town. Irrigation altered land use to the north of the town and to this day has made it very productive farmland. Cereal cropping and livestock production have been important industries in the Colbinabbin area. Since the late 1960s tomatoes have been produced for processing into sauces and pastes. A local company also specialises in semi-dried tomatoes for the export market.

The Rushworth line was a short branch line, used predominantly for grain traffic, which branched off the Goulburn Valley Line at Murchison East. It opened in September 1890.
The line was eventually extended to Colbinabbin, opening in August 1914, and a branch from Rushworth to Girgarre opened in May 1917. The line to Girgarre was closed back to Stanhope in 1975 and the remaining sections were closed in October 1987.

Colbinabbin in recent years has seen a boom in wine growing and a substantial number of vineyards have been established in the area, especially along the Mount Camel Range.
Shiraz is the most common variety grown. This area forms part of the Heathcote Wine Region.

The Colbinabbin Silo Art was painted by Tim Bowtell in March 2020 – Starting from left to right depicts;
(1) Early Colbinabbin farmers picnics of the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s
(2) Train and railway station with grain and fertilizer that was transported from this exact spot
(3) ‘’Lu-Lu” the circa 1950 local Country Fire Authority (CFA) fire truck
(4) The annual tractor pull event in the town that attracted over 22,000 people in the 1980’s.

Melton to Bacchus Marsh

A drive from Melton in Melbourne to Bacchus Marsh through its attractions and history

BACCHUS MARSH #australia

BACCHUS MARSH
Bacchus Marsh is located mid-way between Melbourne and Ballarat, in a rich and fertile valley that consists of orchards, market gardens and pastoral fields. The township itself has a long history, dating back to the days when gold was first discovered in nearby Ballarat during the 1850s.

When entering Bacchus Marsh from Melbourne, the main road into town is The Avenue of Honour, which is lined by hundreds of elm, oaks and plane trees, planted to honour those who served during World War One. This road leads directly into the commercial centre of town which offers a mix of retail outlets in both historic and modern buildings. Attractions within town include the historic Court House, the Tudor-style Border Inn, the Blacksmith's Cottage, and a number of churches dating back to the 1800s. The Chicory Kiln, in Taverner Street, has been preserved since its construction in 1885 when chicory roots were roasted before being ground and added to coffee.

To gain an overview of Bacchus Marsh and the surrounding fertile valley, there are a couple of good vantage points. Off Flanagans Drive is the Our Lady Ta Pinu Marian Centre, located on a hilltop at the eastern entrance to town. The circuit drive around the cross monument offers impressive views across the rich farming land along The Avenue of Honour and towards the surrounding mountain ranges. The road along the northern boundary of Bacchus Marsh Grammar School (accessed via South Maddingley Road) offers a more urban outlook with views over the town centre and surrounding residential areas and towards the mountain ranges in the north.

Bacchus Marsh is surrounded by a rich collection of state parks, national parks and waterways which offer bushwalking tracks and the opportunity to explore the scenic gorges and ranges in the area. There are also picnic spots along the Lerderderg River, Werribee River and at the historic bridge over Djerriwarrh Creek, just off the Western Highway. The Merrimu Reservoir, just a short drive drive north of town, offers BBQ and picnic facilities beside the water supply for towns in the area.
