A romantic road trip to France with my wife to experience the French culture. Together, we traveled to many amazing towns and other destinations over 3400km distance in the following sequence: Strasbourg, Riquewihr, Kaysersberg, Colmar, Annecy, Chamonix, Col De La Cayole, Nice, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Cannes, Gorges du Verdon, La Ciotat, Nimes, Lyon, Avallon and back to Paris.

Flavigny-sur-Ozerain | Most Beautiful villages of France | Les Plus Beaux Villages de France |
The home of candy making legends, Flavigny is a perfect plus beaux village for anyone with a sweet tooth.
The Flavigny candy makers are an absolute iconic in classic french cuisine.....and all they make is mints! The candies that were created in 719 by monks have been made ever since and the traditions have only gotten sweeter! It is the oldest French candy!
The village itself is quite large with super easy access and lots of cool buildings to see. The population isn't very big, sitting at roughly 190 people, so there is loads of village to explore with very few people.
This beautiful french destination has easy free parking and water for re-filling water bottles on hot summer days.
A change from some plus beaux villages de France that have no modern day versions of old business', Flavigny-sur-Ozerain and its all star mints, Les Anis de Flavigny is a perfect place to visit when passing through the département de la Côte-d'Or.

Re-tour de France| Road Trip: Avallon and more
To start I'd like to mention huge problems with Filmora while editing this video. This is the third attempt. Still not happy but it is what it is. Frustrations galore.
From Dunkirk to Lourdes, the French coast to the Pyranees, a trip to the cheese caves in Roquefort, Albi and Chambon sur Lac. We had a fantastic time. The journey was coming to an end.
Right, on a happier note, we drove from Cambon sur Lac to Avallon where we had a lovely interlude with friends after which we had dinner and a much needed good night's sleep.
After a delicious French style breakfast it was time to stretch our legs before we continued on our journey North. Plans are only just that, flexible and adjustable to the conditions. We had no idea Avallon was so beautiful. I hope you enjoy the sights we encountered as much as we did.
Then on to our final BnB in Floing on the Belgiun-French border. We give this BnB 10 our of 10, no lets be honest we give the BnB 11 our of 10. What a great way to close this amazing journey. Severin, Chambre d' Hôtes was the best place ever. Well, home sweet home is but this came a close second.

An einem bewölkten und windigen Julitag kamen wir ins Burgund. Von Dijon aus wollten wir bei einem Tagesausflug mit dem Auto Städte und Landschaften des Burgund kennen lernen. Wir setzten uns einfache Ziele (Avallon) und erlaubten uns auf dem Weg dorthin komplizierte Umwege. Wir fuhren vorbei an den Weinbergen der Cote d'Or und von Chablis. Semur-en-Auxios - eine wunderbare Zufallsbegegnung am Rande der Landstrasse. In Avallon liess uns ein Gedanke von Joseph Roth nicht los. Wir dachten: die Häuser dieser Stadt sind nicht gebaut - sie sinnd gewachsen ...

There are many on the list, yet Vezelay is definetely one of the most beautiful of the most beautiful!
Something about its location and its position on the hill give this French village a feeling that others have a hard time matching. With a 270 degree view from behind the cathedral and it very cool tiny streets, Vezelay is hands down not to be missed top destination in France.
Sitting in the région Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in the department of Yonne, Vezelay is only the 2nd village from Yonne to be nominated for the list of Les Plus Beaux Village de France.
The village is perfect in the morning as you might get a chance to catch the beautiful interior of the Vézelay Abbey in full morning action. Evenings offer up a cracking view on the northern French countryside and there are plenty of fantastic small restaurants that are well worth the visit.
We haven't seen them all yet, but Vezelay definetley makes the top 5 on our list of Les Plus Beaux Village de France .
