Sajama National Park, Bolivia
Sajama National Park is home to chullpa's, ancient churches, hot springs, and thousands of llamas. At 13,000ft and with beautiful off road tracks surrounded by snow capped mountains what more could could I ask for?
????Bolivie : Combien ça coûte ? - Tour du monde - Ep.15 ????
Cette semaine, nous vous emmenons avec nous dans nos deux dernières destinations en Bolivie - étant précisé que nous avons rallongé notre visa pour cela : le Lac Titicaca et le Parc de Torotoro.
Premier arrêt : Le Lac Titicaca. Nous avons pris le combi de La Paz à Copacabana où nous avons embarqué sur le bateau direction d'Isla del sol, réputé l'incontournable du Lac Titicaca côté bolivien.
Nous avions hésité à aller au Lac Titicaca car nous avons déjà fait le lac côté péruvien il y a 4 ans, et cela était très touristique ! Nous n'avons pas regretté d'avoir sauté le pas, car l'Isla del sol n'a rien à voir avec Uros et tout ce que nous avions vu côté péruvien.
Nous avons été charmés par le côté méditerranéen de Copacabana et de l'Isla del sol. Rien que la route pour monter et redescendre jusqu'à Copacabana vaut le détour ! Et, une fois de plus, nous avons été émerveillés de la diversité que présente la Bolivie.
Arrivés (un peu essoufflés) à l'hôtel Inti Wayra par les ruines du Palacio, nous avons rapidement rechaussé les baskets de rando pour se rendre sur un viewpoint voir toute l'île. Puis, direction un autre point de vue pour voir le coucher du soleil, qui jouait ce jour là à cache-cache derrière les nuages, mais que nous avons pu entre-apercevoir. Puis, direction le restaurant Las Velas, recommandé par notre guide de voyage et par l'hôtel, un établissement sans électricité tenu par deux chefs spécialisé dans la cuisine végétarienne et organique (mais nous on a pris la trucha (truite), la spécialité du Lac titicaca, dans une délicieuse sauce au vin blanc).
Le lendemain, nous nous levons tôt pour partir à la découverture du côté Nord de l'île, où se trouve les plus belles ruines incas. Avant de partir, nous avons bien demandé l'avis de notre hôte, car il existe un conflit aigü entre la tribu du Centre basée à Challapampa et la tribu du Nord bassée à Challa.
Cette randonnée reste l'un de nos plus beaux souvenirs en Bolivie : le temps était radieux et les paysages magnifiques, avec de l'eau d'un bleu cristallin, des ruines incas, la gentillesse des habitants de Challa, et quelques cochons se promenant le long de la côte.
Le soir, au retour de la randonnée, nous avons de nouveau mangé à Las Velas, en tentant cette fois la viande, qui était très tendre et, encore une fois, délicieuse.
Le lendemain matin, nous sommes partis prendre le bateau puis le bus pour rejoindre La Paz, d'où nous devions rejoindre notre second spot, et dernier arrêt en Bolivie :
Le parc de Torotoro.
A l'origine, nous avions été attirés par le parc car nous avions entendu dire qu'il y avait beaucoup d'empreintes de dinosaure à voir là-bas. Et nous aimons beaucoup tout ce qui touche à la paléontologie (nous avions été stupéfaits devant les empreintes présentes dans la capitale constitutionnelle de Sucre déjà quelques semaines auparavant).
Finalement, même si nous avons apprécié voir les empreintes de dinosaure, nous retiendrons surtout les excursions dans la nature qui sont possibles à Torotoro :
Tout d'abord, le canyon el vergel : après avoir vu des empreintes de dinosaure, le guide nous emmène sur un pont qui surplombe le canyon, où nous avons eu la chance de voir des aras à front rouge, très rares. Puis, nous sommes descendus dans le canyon, pour rejoindre une magnifique cascade où Sébastien s'est rafraichi, entre les pierres pleines de mousse et les cours d'eau (avant d'entamer la remontée...).
Le lendemain matin, nous avons pris la direction de la ciudad de itas, une zone caractérisée par ses formations rocheuses extraordinaires, parmi lesquelles nous nous sommes promenées (parfois même en passant dessous, dedans...). C'était vraiment unique.
Puis, nous avons terminé par l'excursion la plus sportive (et la plus redoutée pour Marion) : une sortie spéléologie en quelque sorte, dans une caverne, dans laquelle nous nous sommes enfoncés pendant 2h, avec des passages plus qu'étroits parfois, avant de rejoindre un lac souterrain. C'était finalement le meilleur moment de notre passage à Torotoro.
C'est le coeur léger d'avoir pu voir tout cela que nous avons continué Torotoro et, le lendemain, le jour de l'anniversaire de Marion, la Bolivie, un pays qui nous a donné à voir beaucoup.

Climbing Illimani - The Landmark of La Paz - 6462M | 4K | Bolivia
After exploring Sajama National Park and conquering Pico Austria and Pequeño Alpamayo in the Condoriri area, we set our sights on Illimani, the highest peak in the Cordillera Real and the second-highest mountain in Bolivia. Our journey began in the picturesque village of Pinaya, which we reached after a four-hour drive from La Paz. From there, we made our way to the base camp, where we enjoyed sweeping views of the Altiplano and a breathtaking sunset. The following day, our path led us through rugged terrain to the high camp known as Nido de los Condores (Nest of the Condors). In the evening, we could see as far as Sajama, and at night, the lights of La Paz sparkled in the distance. In the middle of the night, our ascent of the glacier began. As we reached the summit ridge, dawn broke, allowing us to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Amazon Basin at the top. Moreover, we were rewarded with a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding mountains, including the majestic Huayna Potosi.
Después de explorar el Parque Nacional Sajama y conquistar el Pico Austria y el Pequeño Alpamayo en la zona de Condoriri, pusimos nuestros ojos en el Illimani, la montaña más alta de la Cordillera Real y la segunda más alta de Bolivia. Nuestro viaje comenzó en el pintoresco pueblo de Pinaya, al que llegamos después de un viaje en automóvil de cuatro horas desde La Paz. Desde allí, nos dirigimos al campamento base, donde disfrutamos de vistas panorámicas del Altiplano y de un impresionante atardecer. Summiting Huayna Potosí 6088m (the highest place i've been on earth) ???? Backpacking Bolivia
This is without a doubt, the hardest physical challenge I have ever done in my life - summiting the mighty Huayna Potosí close to La Paz in Bolivia. The summit is 6088m, which is bloody high! To get there was a 3 day excursion, staying at base camp, high camp and learning how to ice-climb as the majority of the summit attempt is across a glacier.
I booked with Jiwaki who I would highly recommend - they were absolutely brilliant.

An ascent via the normal route over 2 days: 10-11 August 2013.
Day 1: Taxi from La Paz to Pinaya, trek to Base Camp, climb to High Camp.
Day 2: Summit, descend to Pinaya.

Climbing Cabeza del Condor in Bolivia | A Weeklong Expedition
In the mountains, a land that is as inhospitable as it is beautiful, we humans can only ever be visitors. And in order to visit, we must be prepared.
In my first Bolivian mountaineering expedition, I learned some very important technical skills under the guidance of my guide, Chucky, all while climbing four different peaks in the Cordillera Real. The expedition culminated in the climbing of Cabeza del Condor, an imposing rocky peak jutting up from a glaciated maze.
Our week started with rock climbing in Peñas, then we climbed Janq'u Uyu and Jisk'a Pata, mountains resting at about 5,500 meters above sea level, in order to get better acclimatized for the Condoriri Group. After settling in to the refuge on the shores of Lake Ch'iyar Quta, we climbed Pequeño Alpamayo, a mountain with a beautiful ridge route, then learned a bit more about ice climbing. Finally, we were ready to tackle Cabeza del Condor, the highest peak of the massif at 5,700 meters above sea level and more technical than anything I've climbed in the past.
