Highlights of Mongolia from Above | Drone | DJI Mavic Pro | 4K

Mongolia has no shortage of beautiful scenery. As we traveled around the country, the scenery that surrounded us got more and more spectacular.

In the Gobi desert, the landscape was dry and rocky. In Central Mongolia, sand dunes were replaced by green pastures dotted with sheep, goats, cows, and yaks. And as we moved further North, pine forests became the dominant feature of the area.

Mongolia was truly one of the most beautiful countries we have traveled to this year, but it’s not one without challenges. Lack of infrastructure, difficulty in getting around, and a very short warm weather period, make this one of the more challenging destinations to visit. But those that do make it out here will attest, that the struggle is absolutely worth it!

After a strong rain the magnificent seasonal Orkhon Falls is one of the best sights in central Mongolia. About 250m downstream from the waterfall you can climb down to the bottom of the gorge; it’s 22m deep and dotted with pine trees.

Ask your tour operator about the status of the falls. The water doesn’t run all year and will only start to flow after the first good summer rain. Late July and August are the best times to see it, although it's still a very attractive spot in autumn. If you arrive when the waterfall is not in flow, take solace in the fact that the region is still gorgeous, and a fine area for swimming, camping and horse riding.

There are a few different ways to approach the waterfall; all of them involve rough travel in parts, on very rocky roads. Coming directly from Ulaanbaatar, most traffic will go on the road via Khujirt (around 35km from the falls). You'll pass a lovely viewpoint (GPS: N 46°53.465' E 102°22.762') on this track, as the river skirts a cliff face it helped carve into the steppe. One or two kilometres further along you'll pass a remarkable collection of large, Bronze-Age square graves (GPS: N 46°53.465' E 102°22.762') on your left. The road from Kharkhorin is longer, but by taking this route you can stop at Tövkhön Khiid on the way. From Arvaikheer, it’s possible to take a remote backcountry road via Züünbayan-Ulaan and Bat-Ölzii; but you’ll need an experienced driver and a very sturdy 4WD to attempt it.

From :

Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape (Mongolian: Орхоны хөндийн соёлын дурсгал, romanized: Orhonii höndiin soyoliin dursgal) sprawls along the banks of the Orkhon River in Central Mongolia, some 320 km west from the capital Ulaanbaatar. It was inscribed by UNESCO in the World Heritage List as representing the evolution of nomadic pastoral traditions spanning more than two millennia.

For many centuries, the Orkhon Valley was viewed as the seat of the imperial power of the steppes. The first evidence comes from a stone stele with runic inscriptions, which was erected in the valley by Bilge Khan, an 8th-century ruler of the Göktürk Empire. Some 25 miles to the north of the stele, in the shadow of the sacred forest-mountain Ötüken, was his Ördü, or nomadic capital. During the Qidan domination of the valley, the stele was reinscribed in three languages, so as to record the deeds of a Qidan potentate.

Mountains were considered sacred in Tengriism as an axis mundi, but Ötüken was especially sacred because the ancestor spirits of the khagans and beys resided here. Moreover, a force called qut was believed to emanate from this mountain, granting the khagan the divine right to rule the Turkic tribes.[1] Whoever controlled this valley was considered heavenly appointed leader of the Turks and could rally the tribes. Thus control of the Orkhon Valley was of the utmost strategic importance for every Turkic state. Historically every Turkic capital (Ördü) was located here for this exact reason. There were many houses by the bank but they are all gone now.

It is because of the Cheng Hir Onsen that many tourists use this German camp. There is no such place in Mongolia where water is precious because you can enjoy the open-air bath with warm water. Water rises from there. I installed a pipe there and brought it to here, the temperature is 86 ℃. I use the water brought to this place to cool down to 36 ° C. Wondering, I followed the hot spring water pipe. Hot water was rising, but I was sorry that I did not have eggs. It is said that Cheng Here Hot Spring water, especially in the high coniferous volcanic area, has a lot of good sulfur content. I met the men who enjoyed the hot springs. Those who had just finished the bike trip seemed to resemble each other slightly. I am the first brother, and I am the second and the youngest. really good. We are traveling on a motorcycle and it is very dirty because it is very dusty and it is very nice to come in here and relax and soak your skin in warm water. Relieving Muscle Tensions Thanks to the hot spring that blows fatigue at once.

Mongolia by Drone (4k)

Near the end of last year I travelled to Mongolia for three weeks filming for a documentary focusing on the changing climate and how it is affecting the way of life for the Mongolian people. While I was there we visited some of the most incredible places I've been and had some amazing experiences, meeting the local people and getting a glimpse into their lives. Over the last month or so I've put together some of my favourite aerial footage from the trip, resulting in this video!

Dalanzadgad (Mongolian: Даланзадгад; ᠳᠠᠯᠠᠨᠵᠠᠳᠠᠭᠠᠳ) is the capital of Ömnögovi Aimag in Mongolia. It is located 540 kilometers (340 mi) south of the national capital Ulaanbaatar. The altitude of the city center is 1,470 meters (4,823 feet).

Support me on Ko-fi! :

From :

As of 2011, its population is 19,396.

The Dalanzadgad Airport (ZMDZ/DLZ) is served by regular domestic flights from and to Ulaanbaatar. There are summer and winter timetables.

In 2007 the Mongolian Civil Aviation Authority built a new airport with a paved runway. The runway is second longest in the country after Chinggis Khaan International Airport. Before that, the airport had only one gravel runway.

The Dalanzadgad town has a paved road connecting it with capital Ulaanbaatar city.

Dalanzadgad experiences a cold desert climate (Köppen BWk) with cold winters and hot summers. By Mongolian standards it is one of the warmest places in the country during winter. Along with Tsetserleg and Arvaikheer it was warmer than Hohhot in January 2014 and 2015. A unique steppe micro-climate with running streams and lush grass can be found in the nearby Yolyn Am valley.

There is GSM coverage in the city the same as in other major locations - the coverage is good for about a mile out of the city. Usually, the city is also supplied with electric power 24 hours a day. Near Dalanzadgad, at 43°31′54.38″N 104°24′4.16″E, there is a longwave broadcasting station working on 209 kHz with 75 kW.

From :

Ömnögovi (Mongolian: Өмнөговь Ömnögovǐ, South Gobi) is an aimag (province) of Mongolia, located in the south of the country, in the Gobi Desert. Ömnögovi is Mongolia's largest aimag. The capital is Dalanzadgad.

The province is rich in mineral deposits, including gold and copper. Agriculture is of minor importance. Vegetables are grown in some oases, e.g. in Dal near Dalanzadgad.

As the aimag has various sights to offer, tourism is gaining importance. Ömnögovi includes several well known tourist areas, including the Flaming Cliffs, Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park and Khongoryn Els - The Singing Sand Dunes.

According to a 2009 survey, 73.5% of the residents of Omnogovi are Buddhists, 2.9% are Christians, 23.3% do not identify with a formal religion, and 0.3% adhere to other formal religions.
