Lech ski resort is located in the Arlberg region of the Alps in the northeast of Austria's Vorarlberg province, which is close to the Swiss border.
Lech is known as one of the world's prime ski destinations for the Royal British Family and the Royal Dutch family, and other rich and famous.
Lech sits in a valley in the middle of Ski Arlberg. Austria's most extensive and best ski area.

Ski Arlberg, which Lech is a part of, made two significant developments in the last decade:
the building of Aunfeldjet gondola that connected the Lech-Oberlech-Zurs ski area to warth-Schröcken ski area, and the later development, the formation of the Flexenbahn gondolas system.
The latter connected St Anton- St Christoph – Stuben ski area, previously connected only with ski bus.
Ski Arlberg has 305 kilometres of ski slopes for every ski level plus another 200 km of ski routes, which are marked off-piste areas. With the Arlberg card, you can use all 88 lifts. They never feel too crowded because there is a limit for daily sales. As the top ski area in Austria, you will find the top of the notch of ski lifts here. Some of the chairlifts have under-seat heaters that will warm your frozen buttock!
Ski Arlberg slopes are divided into 43% of blue runs, 40%of red runs and 17% of black runs. Add to that the 200 km of ski routes, and we can definitely say that this is a ski area suited for advanced skiers.
Lech is more suited for beginners and intermediates in the Arlberg region than other resorts.
The ski Arlberg highest lift is Valluga 2, at the height of 2810 meters, leading to some crazy off-pistes. Still, for wise people, the ski area highest altitude is 2,644 meters at Valluga 1 gondola, and the lowest slope ends in Shrocken at the height of 1,266 meters above sea level
The ski season in Lech runs from the beginning of December until late April.
On the west front of the northern edge of the Alps, the Arlberg mountains are known for being the most snow-abundant ski area in the Alps.
The average annual snowfall in Lech is 8 meters. Zurs average
Is 10.5 meters, and the Warth-Shrocken area is the snowiest ski area in Europe, with an average of 10.7 meters.
The Tiroler side of the Arlberg is not far behind, with an annual average of 7 meters of snowfall.
Snow cannons cover 220km of pistes, equating to approximately 72% of Ski Arlberg runs.
You can find the best snow in the Ski Arlberg area on Rendl and Stuben north face.
The white ring which connects Lech, Zurs, Zug and Oberlech is a half-day challenge. It's a 22 km ski run and an altitude of 5,500 meters and is one of the world's famous ski circles.
If this is not enough, Ski Arlberg has the most extensive circle in the world, Run of Fame, with 85 km of runs and stretches from warth in the nort h, all the way to Rifflebahn 2 top station - The southern point of the Arlberg ski area.
If you are a fan of snow parks, then lech snow park has 20 obstacles accessible using the Schlegelkopf chair lift. In addition, you can find another snow park at the top of rendelbahn, in St Anton.
For on-mountain restaurants, we recommend Rud-Alpe and Schnegerei on Schlegelkopf slope, Der Wolf, between Petersboden express and Weibermahd lifts top stations. Last but not least, , on the top station of Zugerbergbahn, where the views are breathtaking, the vibe is good, and the food is delicious and served fast.
Lech is the only place in Austria that offers heli-ski. You can reach an off-piste trail via helicopter, with two different fantastic peak locations to choose from, including Mehlsack summit and Schneetäli-Orgelscharte. Heli-ski packages can easily be booked through the ski schools within Lech and can accommodate up to four people in one package.
As the Arlberg region has been the pioneer of ski schools, Lech has a variety of courses here. For example, six days x 4 hours adult group lesson costs 475€.
Advanced skiers can begin lessons any day.
For beginners and children, there is a designated separate area.

VILLACH:
Villaco (o Villacco, in tedesco Villach; Beljak in sloveno, in friulano Vilac), con 61 887 abitanti, è la seconda città per abitanti del Land della Carinzia, nel sud dell'Austria. La città ha ottenuto il titolo di Città alpina dell'anno 1997.
L'autostrada austriaca A2, chiamata anche Süd Autobahn (Autostrada del Sud), con i suoi 377 km è la più lunga autostrada del paese: collega la capitale Vienna all'Italia nei pressi del confine tra Arnoldstein e Coccau (frazione di Tarvisio), toccando le città di Wiener Neustadt, Graz, Völkermarkt, Klagenfurt e Villaco. Oltrepassato il confine, in territorio italiano l'autostrada prende il nome di Autostrada Alpe Adria.
I primi progetti di collegare Vienna a Villaco risalgono ai tempi del Nazionalsocialismo, ma i lavori iniziarono effettivamente solo nel 1959.
L'apertura della prima tratta, Vösendorf-Leobersdorf, avvenne nel 1962. Tra il 1969 ed il 1970 quasi tutta l'autostrada era pronta. L'ultimo tratto, dall'uscita di Völkermarkt West a quella di Klagenfurt Ost, fu inaugurato il 25 novembre 1999.
TARVISIO:
Il territorio del comune sorge nell'estremo nord-est del Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in Val Canale, con l'abitato principale posto a 754 metri m s.l.m., circondato dall'omonima foresta, in una zona di confine tra Italia, Austria e Slovenia (sul Monte Forno vi è la triplice frontiera), con il Canal del Ferro ad ovest (Alpi Carniche), la catena delle Caravanche Occidentali a nord-est che lo dividono a nord dalla Carinzia lungo il confine italo-austriaco e le Alpi Giulie occidentali italiane a sud ed est fino al confine italo-sloveno.
Tra i principali massicci orografici di quest'ultime si ricordano la Catena Jôf Fuârt-Montasio, che lo separano a sud-ovest dalla Val Saisera, la Val Raccolana, la Val Dogna e dalla Valle del Fella, parte della catena del Canin con la Valle Rio del Lago e il Lago del Predil, che la separano a sud dalla Val Coritenza in territorio sloveno e parte della catena Mangart-Jalovec con i laghi di Fusine che la separano dalla valle di Planica a est sempre in territorio sloveno.
Assieme a Courmayeur, Malles Venosta e Curon Venosta è uno dei quattro comuni italiani a confinare con due differenti Stati esteri. Geograficamente non appartiene alla regione italiana essendo posta al di là dello spartiacque principale alpino (sella Camporosso), facendo invece parte del bacino idrografico del Danubio e del Mar Nero: infatti il fiume Slizza (Slize in friulano, Gailitz in tedesco, Ziljica in sloveno) che da Cave del Predil attraversa Tarvisio sfocia nel Gail a Arnoldstein.
Nonostante sia posta a soli 754 m s.l.m., ha un clima continentale con inverni freddi (temperatura minima assoluta -23 °C nel gennaio 1985) e molto nevosi (causa precipitazioni elevate, media annua di 250 cm di precipitazioni nevose). Per contro le estati sono piuttosto calde (massima assoluta 37 °C nel luglio 1983). Nel territorio comunale è ubicata la stazione meteorologica di Tarvisio, ufficialmente riconosciuta dall'organizzazione meteorologica mondiale, nonché punto di riferimento per lo studio del clima della corrispondente area alpina.

Driving Austria & Italy: B83 & SS13 Villach - Tarvisio - 4K drive in the border region AT & IT
The 4K road tourism video features a drive between Austria and Italy on the B83 and SS13 roads, between Villach and Tarvisio. I decided not to take the parallel motorway between these 2 locations and drove the national roads instead. It was a nice drive through nice landscape, following the rivers Gail and Kanal. We climb about 250m between Villach and Tarvisio. Enjoy!

Driving on Tauern Autobahn in Austria from Villach to St. Michael
The 4K road tourism video features a drive on the austrian motorway A10, one of the most spectacular alpine motorways in Europe. I will cover the whole motorway, and that is the first part, from Villach to St. Michael in Lungau. We go through many tunnels and on some high bridges as the road cuts its way through Central Austria. The motorway offers very nice views of the high mountains around. Enjoy!
