Places to see in ( Arcachon - France )
Arcachon is a seaside resort town in southwest France that's known for oyster harvesting. Its 4 districts are named after the seasons. The Ville d'Été (summer) quarter is home to shopping streets, the town’s sandy main beach and a casino in the 19th-century Château Deganne. Ville d’Hiver (winter quarter) has extravagant 19th-century villas. South of the town is the Dune du Pilat, a 2.7-km natural sand dune.
A long-time oyster-harvesting area on the south side of the tranquil, triangular Bassin d'Arcachon (Arcachon Bay), this seaside town lured bourgeois Bordelaise at the end of the 19th century. Its four little quarters are romantically named for each of the seasons, with villas that evoke the town's golden past amid a scattering of 1950s architecture. Arcachon's generous swathe of golden-sand beach seethes with sun-seekers in summer, but there are plenty of equally sandy but less-crowded beaches, including the lovely Plage des Arbousiers, just a short bike ride away.
Archachon is very easy to reach from Bordeaux. For budget travelers, there are plenty of daily trains leaving from Gare Saint-Jean in Bordeaux. Another cheaper alternative would be the buses leaving from bus stop in front of Gare Saint-Jean. It takes about 1 hour and half to reach Arcachon town.
Lovely surroundings of Arcachon becomes horrendous in July if you try to get anywhere — it takes nearly 3 hours to get from Arcachon to Andernos Le Bains in the early evenings. In fact, if you want to go anywhere in the area in summer, you'd better start early in the morning around 9AM. This is not a place for those preferring laziness in the mornings while on vacations.

FRANCE | Arcachon Bay: Dune of Pilat and more | iPhone SE travel guide
Welcome to the BAY OF ARCACHON, a bay of the Atlantic ocean on the Southwest coast of FRANCE. Very touristic in Summer, it's also worth visiting off season.
Not too far from Bordeaux, this area is mostly known for the DUNE OF PILAT, which is the highest sand dune in Europe. On the other side of the bay, CAP FERRET is another beautiful and well-known place. Other beaches include Grand Crohot, Le Porge, Lacanau, etc.
The ARCACHON BAY is also known for its oyster villages such as GUJAN-MESTRAS and ANDERNOS-LES-BAINS, where you can enjoy a short walk and try local oysters from September to April. And for a wilder and quieter atmosphere, enjoy a walk between Lanton and Audenge.

Places to see in ( Arcachon - France ) Ville d’Hiver
Arcachon is known for the Arcachonnaise, the local name for an Arcachon villa, which is the architectural style of many of the older houses built in France. It is a type of Victorian architecture. The Winter City is a district of Arcachon , common French department of Gironde . It was born of a real estate operation conducted in the early 1860s by a handful of businessmen led by the bankers Émile and Isaac Pereire . The villas that compose it are related to the architecture known as picturesque, with debauchery of architectural elements borrowed from different styles.
A holiday resort , the Winter City of Arcachon evokes the rich worldly hours of the past through a series of architectures inspired by neoclassical , neo-Gothic , Swiss chalet , colonial house or the Moorish architecture. The different villas typically incorporate architectural elements such as roof large overhang in the tradition of the cottage, brick facade, oriel , gazebo , turret, front building, veranda, balcony, an asymmetry marking the picturesque fashion appeared in the xviii th century and that developed in the xix th century.
The Arcachon villa, often immersed in greenery, borrows its hybrid style at multiple times, multiple regions of the planet. The intensive use of cut wood for farms, lambrequins and balconies is favored by the mechanization of factories in the region; some are so finely cut that they are compared to paper architectures. The names of the houses ( The Mona Lisa , Figaro , Fantasy , The Mill , Nitouche , or Madeleine , who welcomed Gustave Eiffel ) mark their time.
The Winter Town, with its extravagant villas , was practically built in a single jet in the 1860s , according to a carefully pre- planned urbanization plan . It owes its existence to the opportune association of a wise banker and the bacillus of Koch .
When this real new city comes out of the ground, Arcachon is already a seaside resort and upscale spa. The bourgeoisie of the III e Republic has before it a craze for sea bathing invigorating, and Arcachon is a popular health resort. The rich merchants of Bordeaux have spruced up on the beach and the trains that, since the redemption of the line Bordeaux - La Teste by the Compagnie du Midi , now grow to Arcachon itself, fill up all summer.

CAP FERRET - FRANCE (Visit of the Cap Ferret peninsula on the Arcachon Bay in 4K)
CAP FERRET, France 4K. Visit of the Cap Ferret, a peninsula situated at the south end of the commune of Lège-Cap-Ferret in the French department of Gironde and region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The headland takes the form of a spit, which separates the Atlantic Ocean from Arcachon Bay. At the same time, the entrance to Arcachon Bay separates Cap Ferret from the resort town of Arcachon.
Cap Ferret is famous for its lighthouse and as an up-market resort that has retained its natural feel at the heart of the Landes of Gascony and the Pays de Buch. It is also famous for its ostreicole (oyster-farming) activity and numerous tasting sites.

A great walk in Arcachon
Arcachon is an seaside town on the ocean. Located in the south-west of France, it is famous for the harvest of oysters. Its 4 neighborhoods take their name from the seasons of the year. The Summer City is home to shopping streets, the main sandy beach of the city and a casino, housed in the castle Deganne, a building of the nineteenth century. The Winter Town is home to extravagant 19th century villas. South of the city is the Pilat Dune, a huge natural sand dune.
Arcachon est une ville balnéaire en bord d'océan. Située dans le sud-ouest de la France, elle est célèbre pour la récolte des huîtres. Ses 4 quartiers tirent leur nom des saisons de l'année. La Ville d’Été accueille des rues commerçantes, la principale plage de sable de la ville et un casino, aménagé dans le château Deganne, un bâtiment du XIXe siècle. La Ville d'Hiver recèle d'extravagantes villas du XIXe siècle. Au sud de la ville se trouve la dune du Pilat, une immense dune naturelle de sable.
