Araucária, a cidade símbolo do PR, Brasil - Ep. 38 (S03E10)
O nome da cidade está certamente relacionado à árvore símbolo do Paraná, a Araucaria Angustifolia ou Pinheiro do Paraná.
Os primeiros registros em relação a Araucária remontam a 1668, Domingos Rodrigues da Cunha recebeu uma sesmaria, doada pelo Capitão Povoador. Alguns anos mais tarde o povoado passou a se chamar Tindiquera.
Em 1876 a região recebeu um intenso fluxo migratório de Russos, Poloneses e Alemães e em 11 de fevereiro de 1890 foi criado o município como é conhecido hoje.

Die 8 größte Stadt in Brasilien. Curitiba: Land mit den vielen Araukarien.
Tag 8 unserer Brasilienreise ist angebrochen und wir sind etwas durch Curitiba gebummelt.
Curitiba ist die acht größte Stadt in Brasilien und hat Stand 2021 fast 2 Millionen Einwohner.
Der Name Curitiba bedeutet Sinngemäß Land mit den vielen Araukarien.
Unser Spaziergang führte uns ein Stück durch die Innenstadt mit der schöne Fußgängerzone vorbei an einigen Sehenswürdigkeiten wie z. B. ein Gebäude der Universität von Paraná vor den quadratischen Gärten von Santos Andrade, oder dem Palast der Freiheit.
Sehr bemerkenswert war die Kathedrale von Nossa Senhora da Luz dos Pinhais. Ob von innen oder von außen, eine sehr schöne Kirche.
Auch haben uns die Farbigen Häuser des Historischen Zentrums von Curitiba gefallen.
Dort im Zentrum findet sich auch die Bar do Alemao. Ein Restaurant nach Schwarzwälder Stil.
Die Bar ist sehr schön mit vielen Deutschen Bilder, Bierdeckel, Gegenständen eingerichtet.
Auch findet man auf der Speisekarte sehr viele Deutsche Gerichte. Geschmacklich sehr gut, allerdings nicht genau so wie in Deutschland.
Sehr Eindrucksvoll war auch das Museum Memorial de Curitiba das neben das sich neben der Bar befindet. Die Ausstellung zur Kunstbewegung Paranismo zeigte uns einen tiefen Einblick in die Geschichte von Curitiba.
Ein weiteres Highlight war dann der Besuch im Mercado Municipal, dem Städtischen Markt von Curitiba. Diese Auswahl an Obst, Gemüse, Fleisch, Fisch und viele andere Lebensmittel, eingelegte Oliven, Knoblauch, Geschenkartikel und anderen Waren ist phänomenal. Diese große öffentliche Markthalle hat auch einige Restaurants zum einkehren.
Der Tag beziehungsweise der Bummel durch Curitiba hat uns wunderschöne Eindrücke der Stadt vermittelt.

Curitiba is the capital of Paraná, Brazil. If you're heading for Iguaçu Falls from Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo, it's worth stopping by for a day or two. Curitiba is one of the largest cities in the prosperous Southern region, and its population is largely descended from German, Ukrainian, Russian, Italian and Polish immigrants. The city is known to urban planners worldwide for its innovative public transit system.
There is a great cidade velha (old city) in the center which was restored very well for its 319 years, but unfortunately much of it is covered in graffiti and only a few of the buildings are aesthetically pleasing as a result. There is a huge arts and crafts fair every Sunday in the old city that is well worth visiting.Curitiba has a very simple and practical transportation system. Public transportation consists entirely of buses. There are several different types of bus, each with a different function.
Driving can be difficult for those who are not used to the traffic in Curitiba, especially for first comers. In the central area, there are many one-way streets, parking restrictions as well as pedestrian-only and bus-only streets. Bus lanes are very common in Curitiba, as the city has over 60 km (38 miles) of them. Most avenues are wide and have spacious sidewalks and they are mostly laid out in a grid system in the city center area.
Many visitors from outside Brazil are not prepared to feel cold in this tropical country. This is precisely the case in Curitiba, located off from the tropic parallel, and elevated by an altitude of almost 1000 meters above the sea level. Curitiba has a good variety of restaurants, ranging from modest to upscale restaurants. Note that the downtown (centro) area caters mainly to the business lunch crowd, and is very quiet at night with many restaurants closed. On Sundays nearly all bars and restaurants are closed downtown.
Curitiba has also taken innovative approaches to urban ills such as homelessness, pollution and poverty, and it’s now the envy of urban planners the world over and the country's most efficient city. With its abundant green spaces, sophisticated population and well-heeled infrastructure, this is a good spot to recharge your batteries and enjoy Brazil at its functioning best.

Some species of Fauna: Opossum, armadillo, caxinguelê, cavy, agouti, small mammals , frog, bem-te-vi, João-de-barro, ananaí, sabiá-laranjeira, sabiá-cavaleiro, sanhaço, dove-asa branco, chupim, hummingbird, jackdaw, bem-te-vis, coleirinhas, pacifiers, tico-ticos, canaries-of-land, pigs and woodpeckers.

Curitiba experimentou diversos planos urbanísticos[16] e legislações que visavam controlar seu crescimento, que a levaram a ficar famosa internacionalmente pelas suas inovações urbanísticas e cuidado com o meio ambiente.[16][17] A maior delas foi no transporte público,[18][19][20] cujo sistema inspirou o TransMilenio, implantado em Bogotá, na Colômbia.
Também conta com elevada posição nos indicadores de educação, a menor taxa de analfabetismo e a melhor qualidade no ensino básico entre as capitais.[21][22] O Índice Mastercard de Mercados Emergentes 2008, criado com a intenção de avaliar e comparar o desempenho das cidades em diferentes funções que interligam os negócios e o comércio no mundo inteiro, posicionou-a como a 49.ª com maior influência global.[23] Curitiba foi classificada pelo Índice Verde de Cidades de 2015, realizado pela Siemens com a Economist Intelligence Unit, como a mais ambientalmente sustentável da América Latina.[24] Também foi considerada pela Organização das Nações Unidas para a Educação, a Ciência e a Cultura (Unesco) uma das “cidades criativas” do Brasil em 2014, ao lado de Florianópolis.[25]
Em 2009, em pesquisa publicada pela revista Forbes, Curitiba foi citada como a terceira cidade mais sagaz do mundo, que considera esperta a urbe que se preocupa, de forma conjunta, em ser ecologicamente sustentável, com qualidade de vida, boa infraestrutura e dinamismo econômico.[26] Curitiba recebeu a classificação de cidade global gama- por parte do Globalization and World Cities Study Group & Network (GaWC).[27] Entretanto, alguns problemas socioeconômicos persistem, em 2016 a capital paranaense foi classificada no 44.º lugar entre as 50 cidades com as maiores taxas de homicídio do mundo.[28]

At the end of the 19th century, colonies of Polish, German and Ukrainian immigrants settled in the lands of the region. There is no concrete record of how his name came about, as there are several different hypotheses.
One of the differentials of the neighborhood is the Praça da Ukraine, the big meeting point of Bigorrilho and which hosts fairs every Wednesday and Friday.

History of Curitiba:
On March 29, 1693, the captain-settler Matheus Martins Leme, when crowning the appeals for peace, quiet and the common good of the people, promoted the first election for the City Council and the installation of the Village, as required by the Portuguese. The Vila de Nossa Senhora da Luz dos Pinhais was founded, later Curitiba.
The change in the name of the village and the routine of the village came in 1721, with the visit of Raphael Pires Pardinho, today the name of a square in the city. He was probably the first authority to be concerned with the city's environment, starting a tradition for which Curitiba is now internationally recognized.
At that time, the ombudsman ordered the inhabitants to take certain precautions with nature. The cutting of trees, for example, could only be done in limited areas. And the residents were obliged to clean the Ribeiro (today Rio Belém), in order to avoid the bathing in front of the mother church. The ombudsman Pardinho also established that the houses could not be built without authorization from the Chamber and should be covered with tiles. The streets that had already started would have to be continued so that the village could grow evenly.
Forgotten by the rulers of the Captaincy of São Paulo, Curitiba went through a period of extreme poverty. Prosperity would only come from 1812, with tropeirismo. Strategic point on the road from Viamão to São Paulo and Minas Gerais, the town saw trade grow with the passage of the tropeiros.
The rent of farms for the winterers transferred the inhabitants of the countryside to the village. Shops, warehouses and business offices linked to the transport of livestock emerged. Along with development, in 1853 the emancipation of Paraná was achieved. Curitiba became capital, owner of its destiny.
Curitiba is a word of Guarani origin: kur yt yba means large number of pines, pinewood, in the language of the Amerindians, the first inhabitants of the territory. In the early days of human occupation, the lands where Curitiba is today had a large amount of Araucaria angustifolia, the Paraná pine. The adult tree is shaped like a cup. Its seed is the pine nut, a source of protein and food of great consumption, in natura or as an ingredient of the regional cuisine of Paraná. The pine nut served as food for a bird also found in large quantities at the beginning of the occupation of the territory: the blue jackdaw (Cyanocorax caeruleus). With a bluish body and a black head, the blue jackdaw, according to a legend, harvested the pinion with its beak and buried it in the soil for later consumption. From these buried pine nuts, new pine trees were born.

An interesting fact about Garopaba is that it was the home of the Guarani people, an indigenous group that inhabited this region for thousands of years and left a legacy of art, folklore, and wisdom.
Beach 5: Florianópolis
Last but not least, we have Florianópolis, a beach that is a playground for all, with its diverse and vibrant atmosphere. This beach has a mix of urban and natural attractions that you can discover, with its iconic bridges, colonial forts, and bustling markets. A curious fact about Florianópolis is that it is the capital of Santa Catarina and has a population of over 500,000 people, making it one of the largest and most cosmopolitan cities in the South of Brazil.
