Shree Antu, Suryodaya, Ilam | Best Sunrise View Point | Sulav Yatra
Shree Antu is a famous tourist destination for observing Sunrise. The legendary sunrise view spot Shree Antu Danda is located at an altitude of 2328m from sea level.
The tradition of homestay in this region is believed to have begun from Antu. The major attractions of the area are the sunrise view, Antu Pokhari, Sungava farming, and the Lepcha culture. A fascinating view of Mt. Kanchajunga, Indian border areas, and swathes of Ilam and Jhapa can also be observed from the place. Kartik to Poush (October to February) is the appropriate season to view the sunrise from here.

Hi Guys, I'm Moloy Seth. I'm a Travel Vlogger, Travel Film Maker, Travel Enthusiast & Nature lover.
Shree Antu Danda (2,300 metres) is located in the Ilam region of eastern Nepal. South of the third-highest peak in the world, Kanchenjunga (8586m), which lies directly outside of Darjeeling, India.
One of the greatest sites in Ilam to see the amazing sunrise, sunset, and Himalayas is Antu Danda, which is home to Shree Antu, a stunning hill in the district.
The Terai flatlands, terraced slopes of cash crops, tea gardens, and dense pine trees are all visible from this 2,328-meter-high elevation. On a sunny, clear day, one may also take in the views of Mirik, Kurseong, and Darjeeling.
Ilam is the main tea-growing area in Nepal. In addition to tea, the area is renowned for producing cardamom, ginger, potatoes, a particular type of cold (akabare khursani), and a certain type of grass (amliso).
The Shree Antu Danda viewpoint offers breath-taking views amid tea plantations and surrounding pine tree forests. Overlooking the plain Terai landscape in the south, the eastern Himalayas in the north, and the Darjeeling tea-growing areas in the east. Mt. Everest may also be seen early in the day.
Many different ethnic groups live in Ilam, including the Limbu, Rai, Lepcha, Magar, Tamang, and others. Lepcha people only exist in Ilam, Nepal, where they are said to number under 4,000. Although the Lepcha consider themselves to be native to the area, it is unknown where they actually originated. We also have the opportunity to stay with a Lepcha people group while in Antu Danda. so that we might learn about their wonderful culture and traditions.
One of the greatest sites in Ilam to see the amazing sunrise, sunset, and Himalayas is Antu Danda, which is home to Shree Antu, a stunning hill in the district.

Nearest airport is Bagdogra (IXB). Nearest Railway stations are New Jalpaiguri Junction (NJP), both are well connected with Kolkata and rest of India. Exclusive vehicles and taxies are available from airport and railway station.
From New Jalpaiguri Railway Station 96 Km, from Siiguri Junction 90 km & from Bagdogra Airport 78 Km.

In this video, I am riding to Nepal for the first time in my life which is an international ride. I started from Siliguri through the panitanki-kakarbhitta border to Ilam, the Eastern part of Nepal. Ilam is a wonderful place to visit. major attractions are Maipokhri, ilam, fikkal, kanyam, phidim, taolejung,shree antu etc. I have visited shree antu particularly out of all those mentioned places. It was raining heavily, and few places were not accessible due to slides. the journey was full of thrill and fun. my xpulse also performed very well during the ride. I will make a different video about bhansar (Nepal permit for a bike ride) very soon as video recording was not allowed inside the Customs office. Moreover, I lost almost half of the raw footage while copying it to my laptop, recovered after a long struggle, and made this video.I hope you'll enjoy it.

Shree Antu Trekking, a hilly district situated in the far eastern part of Nepal, is divided into 48 Village Development Committees (VDCs) and one municipality. This district is fully covered by hills except some parts of inner Terai. The district covered by pleasant natural geo-structure, temperate climate, low green hills and fertile lands, has been made prosperous by the hard work of the farmers.
The district is famous for tea and six 'As' - aalu (potato), alaichi (cardamom), aduwaa (ginger), akabare khursani (red round chilly), olan (milk) and amliso (a grass from which brooms are made, Thysanalaena). This district is proceeding towards modern agricultural business from the traditional cereal farming. Among the six 'As', potato, ginger, cardamom, red round chilly and amliso are exported to Siliguri and Darjeeling in India whereas milk is taken to Kathmandu via Biratnagar and Tea is exported to foreign countries. Ilam is inhabited by the people from various sects and ethnic group and is an interface of different cultures and religions. Ilam has exciting natural green hills covered with tea plantation and forest, diverse climate, simple living style and houses depicting its own arts and unique style.

I visited Kanyam Tea Garden , Shree Antu Hills while traveling to Ilam , Pashupatinagar and a bit Darjelling by walking :P with my friends.
We planned to do ride upto Darjelling & Sikkim but We couldn't get permit because now the rules are different now and you need to get permit from Kathmandu as the locals said.
We went Kanyam stayed in Home stay in Shree Antu such a beautiful and silent place to stay at night . The morning sunrise will surprise you with its beauty.
It has breathtaking view of entire hill. Oh don't forget to bring your camera and click panoramic photo. If you have a longer time, you would love to enjoy it for more than a day. Excellent spot for day long outing, night stay with friends and families.
We just enjoyed each and every moment. Next morning we went fikal bazar and Pashupatinagar and kept the Bikes there and crossed the border towards Darjelling by walking to some extents. Photography and videography at border is not allowed so please take care of that.

The name Ilam is derived from the limbu language in which IL means twisted and Lam means road. Ilam was one of the ten self ruling states of Limbuwan before the reunification of Nepal. Its ruler King Hangshu Phuba Lingdom of Lingdom dynasty ruled Ilam as a confederate state of Limbuwan until 1813 AD. The treaty between the other Limbuwan states and the King of Gorkha (Gorkha-Limbuwan Treaty of 1774 AD) and the conflict of Gorkha and Sikkim led to the unification of Ilam with Gorkha. Ilam was the last of the ten kingdoms of Limbuwan to be reunified into Nepal. The King of Gorkha gave the ruler of Ilam full autonomy to rule and the right of Kipat. Ilam was an independent Limbu kingdom until 1813 CE/1869 BS.
Ilam is today one of the most developed places in Nepal. Its ILAM TEA is very famous and is exported to many parts of Europe. The main source of income in this district is tea, cardamom, milk, ginger, potato, orlon, and broom production on a large scale.
This place also has a religious importance. The devi temples have a great importance attached to them and many people come here just for pilgrimage.
The major attraction of Ilam is the nine-cornered Mai Pokhari lake. Also known as the abode of the goddess many tourists as well as Nepalese people come to visit this place. Similarly, Gajurmukhi is also the religious spot for pilgrimages from Nepal and India. Mai river and its four tributaries also emerge in Ilam district. The famous Mane Bhanjyang (Mane pass) connects Ilam with Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India.

I visited Kanyam Tea Garden , Shree Antu Hills while traveling to Ilam , Pashupatinagar and a bit Darjelling by walking :P with my friends.
We planned to do ride upto Darjelling & Sikkim but We couldn't get permit because now the rules are different now and you need to get permit from Kathmandu as the locals said.
We went Kanyam stayed in Home stay in Shree Antu such a beautiful and silent place to stay at night . The morning sunrise will surprise you with its beauty.
It has breathtaking view of entire hill. Oh don't forget to bring your camera and click panoramic photo. If you have a longer time, you would love to enjoy it for more than a day. Excellent spot for day long outing, night stay with friends and families.
We just enjoyed each and every moment. Next morning we went fikal bazar and Pashupatinagar and kept the Bikes there and crossed the border towards Darjelling by walking to some extents. Photography and videography at border is not allowed so please take care of that.
