Anse la raye –
Anse La Raye is the largest town in Anse la Raye Quarter, Saint Lucia. It is located on the island's western side, near Marigot Bay, and has several examples of French and English colonial architecture. The name Anse la Raye is derived from the rays that are found in the bay, the English translation means Bay of Rays. On a Friday night there is a fish fry where the local fishermen showcase their skills and where lobsters, fish and lambi (conch) are cooked and eaten. The fish fry is located on Front Street which runs parallel to the beach.

Canaries-
Canaries (or Kanawe in Creole) is located on the West Coast of Saint Lucia. It is a small fishing village and it is nestled along the West Coast road, between Anse La Raye and Soufriere, and there are scenic views from both the Northern and Southern approaches. Until the 1960s there was no road transport to the village and it was only accessible by boat. Since the construction of the West Coast Road it is a stop on the road between Castries and Soufriere. The name Kanawe is derived from the Amerindian word for cooking pots, in the past Canaries had a large sugar plantation that ran inland up the valley that stretches in an eaterly direction from the village.

Nestled below the Pitons, twin peaks rising over 2,600 feet above the azure waters of the Caribbean, St. Lucia is an oasis of tropical calm. The island's capital, Castries, is a town of charming, pastel-colored colonial buildings, home to some 60,000. Yet despite its peaceful setting, St. Lucia has a turbulent and colorful history. Fierce Carib warriors overran the peaceful Arawaks in the 9th century. The first European settler, Francois Le Clerc, was a French buccaneer. Le Clerc's countrymen followed in his wake, establishing the town of Soufriere in 1746. Sugar was the lure, sugar was king. Within four decades some 50 plantations flourished on the island. Thus St. Lucia became part of the Caribbean's 18th-century trade triangle of sugar, slavery, and rum. As part of our Crown Princess Southern Caribbean Cruise, we visited the beautiful island of St.Lucia. A big thanks to Real St. Lucia Tours for sponsoring our tour and hosting us!
During this video, you'll see some of the incredible places we visited in St. Lucia while we were in port for the day. We began our tour from the St. Lucia cruise terminal where we met our tour guide, Isaac. We boarded the air conditioned van made our way through the town of Castries and saw the gorgeous landscape, and stopped for a photo stop.
Some of the sights we saw included L'Anse La Raye fishing village, the Edmond Rainforest, Tete Paul Nature Trail, the Banana Plantation, the Suplhuric Springs and Mud Baths, the town of Soufriere, and the Touraille Waterfalls.
We learned a lot about life in St. Lucia during our tour, including information about the 2 Pitons, the national flower, Hibiscus, and National Plant, the giant fern.
We ended our tour with a delicious lunch at the Beacon Restaurant, where the view was just amazing!
