Arigna Mining Experience 2022:
This video is sharing a exploring experience of a Coalmine which is underground in Ireland. In todays videos I head to Arigna to see the old underground coal mine which is now a mining experience and attraction.
????Subscribe Here!!

Mining in the area dates back to the 1600's when an Iron works was built at Arigna. The local inhabitants have mined the area for generations all by hand until more modern tools were available. The first transport of coal were done with horse and cart until the railway was extended to Arigna.

In 1958 the ESB built a power station as Arigna had vast deposits of coal which would supply the station. At its peak Arigna was supplying up to 55 000 tons per year.

As the supply of high grade coal became exhausted the mine closed in 1990 and the power station demolished.

After the closure people of the area recognized a opportunity to create something that would preserve there mining history and boost the local economy. Plans were in place to create an attraction that would bring visitors local and abroad to see this experience.

In 2003 Arigna Mining Experience was opened which was part funded by the community.

In 2019 the centre was extended to include a Cafe, gift shop and a audio visual area.

Below is the google plus code to locate Arigna Mining Experience and there website. The site is also wheelchair friendly and you can do the whole tour.

A member of the crew will tells visitors about life on board a sailing ship. This authentic recreation with it's actors, sound effects and smells, will transport you back in time.

A road provides access to the summit at 271m from which there are panoramic views. A Visitor Centre houses exhibitions and audio visual show.

Kennedy Homestead
The Kennedy Homestead, birthplace of President John F. Kennedy's great-grandfather Patrick Kennedy, celebrates the story of five generations of the Kennedy dynasty and is still today farmed by his descendants. Joining the multitudes of Irish fleeing the Great Famine, Patrick Kennedy departed from this Homestead for the port of New Ross on a wet day in 1848 to set sail for the United States where his descendants were to become the worlds most famous family. ROSTREVOR COUNTY DOWN; the Fairy Glen and Kilbroney Forest-Carlingford Lough-Dolmen and Fairies

Rostrevor is an amazing town to visit - it is located in County Down, Northern Ireland. It is home to many beautiful locations to visit... In the town itself there are some lovely pubs, takeaways and great cafes! (we had loads of tea there!).

As you walk out of the town you cross a bridge and on your left is the Fairy Glen, a wonderful path up along the river - you can also enter the Kilbroney Forest park from here and explore the grounds, see the CS Lewis Trail and if feeling adventurous, head up the climb to the Kilbroney park where the Cloughmore stone sits. Here you will have amazing views back over the town, Ross Monument, Rostrevor Forest and Kilbroney, the Mourne Mountains, Carlingford lough - actually across a good bit of County Down! :-)

Rostrevor is known to be a village and townland in county Down in Northern Ireland, it is within Newry, Mourne and Down District. Rostrevor lies at the foot of Slieve Martin on the coast of Carlingford Lough. One of the several interesting things that make this village and townland more beautiful is the Kilbroney River that flows through it.

There are different suggestions behind the origins of the name Rostrevor. The second part of the name Trevor came from the name of Sir Edward Trevor who settled in the area in the early 17th century and was then succeeded by his son Marcus Trevor who later on became Viscount Dungannon. The first part of the name which is Ros is believed to come from the name of Edward Trevor's wife who was called Rose.

There are different attractions that tourists could visit in Rostrevor, there is the big stone which is located nearby Cloughmore and perched on the slopes of Slieve Meen ( This stone which is also referred to as Cloughmore Stone was placed there by the retreating glaciers during the last Glacial Maximum although there are some legends which people believe that say that the stone was thrown by a giant from the Cooley Mountains on the other side of Cloughmore Lough and this legend also says that walking seven times around this stone will bring you good luck!

Another attraction in Rostrevor is Kilfeaghan Dolmen which is situated on the main Kilkeel to Newry road which is only three-quarter miles from Rostrevor. This is believed to be the biggest in Ireland and estimated to weigh between 35 to 40 tons.

Adding to the list of places to visit in Rostrevor, there is also the old church that stands in the graveyard on the Kilbroney Road and there is also the Bell of Bronach in the village's Catholic church which was believed to scare the passers at night during the stormy weathers.

There are two rivers in this village and that is another thing that attract people to it because who out there does not enjoy the idea of sitting, walking or even living by the river? Almost nobody.

The Ross Monument is also one of the important attractions in Rostrevor which we should shed the lights on. This monument has been there on Shore Road and was erected in 1836 and restored once again in 2008. This monument was instructed to honor Major General Robert Ross who fought in both Europe and America and it was also built to celebrate the victory of the American Forces at Bladensburg. Ross Monument is situated where Robert Ross intended to build his retirement home.

Among the important places that one could also visit when it comes to Rostrevor, there is the Fairy Glen which is at the Kilbroney Park Entrance ( and check the Narnia Trail which is also located inside and one of the places that families enjoy, adults and kids (

It is interesting to visit every corner in the city or town which you are going to travel to and visit, and these are the most important and the highlights of Rostrevor which every one going there should go and check.

This is one of the trips which we have made to Rostrevor and the places we liked the most is the Ross Monument and the Fairy Glen because one tends to explore the history of the place and at the same time will go through the adventure of exploring the Narnia Trail and all the different sculptures which are found there along the different stops inside.

Did you visit Rostrevor before? Have you ever been to any of these different attractions which we have suggested and stated? If you have been there then share your feedback with us and tell us more about the places and things which you loved the most and those which you didn't.

Just outside the town you will find more wonders like the Kilfeaghan Dolmen, it might take more than 1 day to visit! Put Rostrevor County Down on the list today!!

Rostrevor is known to be an area of historic interest and folklore (

FAQs:
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I was born in Glasgow but have lived in Carnoustie, Dalgety Bay, Stonehaven, Edinburgh, Montrose, and further afield (Salamanca, Spain & Devonport, New Zealand)
WHEN DO YOU UPLOAD?
Saturdays at 10am Scottish time. Occasionally a bonus midweek video will pop up.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I film with a GoPro11 and my iPhone12. I edit on iMovie and use epidemicsound.com for music. I also use canva.com for thumbnails etc.
WHY DON'T YOU SPEND LONGER AT DESTINATIONS?
The usual suspects I'm afraid - time and money! Hotels especially these days make my eyes water like a true Scotsman.
WHERE'S ALICJA?
Alicja will feature whenever possible, but she has her own life and a proper job so it can take a while for our schedules to match up. Trust me though, I prefer it when She is there too!
DO YOU PAY FOR YOUR OWN TRAVEL?
Yes I do. I've only ever accepted a complementary ticket as compensation for a previous problem. All my opinions are frank and honest reflections of travel as I experience it.
WHY THE ADS?
It's my income, I can't do this for free.
CAN I CONTACT YOU?
I used to list my email address but felt bad not having the capacity to respond to everything so took it down (and I got a LOT of spam so missed many genuine messages along the way).
HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE CHANNEL?
Watching my videos is of course support enough, but if you'd like to support further, I'll pop links below for Paypal and Patreon. All kind donations are super-appreciated and will go 100% towards future filming trips.
DO YOU ACCEPT SPONSORSHIPS?
I don't like to upset the flow of my videos, so I don't even include mid-roll ads anymore (at significant loss of income to myself), so I prefer not to include sponsorships either. I'm open to a small slide at the start/end of each video, but I don't want to get into talking about products, it's something I don't like as a viewer myself (especially as a viewer who pays for YouTube Premium). So it's probably a polite no, although all of this goes out the window if you offer me something which can give me the chance to make a video for my audience that would otherwise be impossible.

Locals from Greencastle Village in Donegal, Pauline and her big sister Rose take us on a journey through Derry and Donegal.
They start off in Derry (or Londonderry to some) which one of the last walled cities in Europe and a University city. Within it they show us some hidden gems such as the Derry Craft Village.
From Derry they take the cycle track that leads all the way to Donegal along the River Boyle. They travel to Kinnoge Bay withs its golden sand and try out horse riding on the beach before ending up in the most northerly point in Ireland - Malin Head.

Beaches of The Wild Atlantic Way - Ireland Travel Guide (S1E32)

Fáilte and Welcome to Éire Rider my name is Ben,

Today we continue our wild atlanitc way ride with a visit to Rossnowlagh Beach in County Donegal. One of the most popular holiday beaches in all of Donegal. The beach offers surfing, beach walks with over 4kms of strand, bay views over Donegal with great views of the Donegal South coast on the other side of the Bay.

The history of surfing at Rossnowlagh and Donegal for that matter all started with the Britton family which I mention in the video. Check the chapters for this one.

Rossnowlagh is the 2nd wild atlantic way discover point out of 37 in Donegal that we have visited with the next one being Murvagh Beach as we continue heading up the coastline.

Solo Motorcycle ride to Boyle Abbey in Ireland (S1E14)

Well Preserved Monastery Ruins of Boyle Abbey - Explore Ireland Vlog

Failte and Welcome to EireRider

My name is Ben. Thank you for joining me on todays video which will see us visit Boyle Abbey in Co. Roscommon. This is our first location in Roscommon for the channel which will start a new area of exploring Ireland. Roscommon has many lakes, forest as well as Neolithic history which we shall be exploring.

This Abbey dates back to the 12th century when the Cistercian order founded this abbey. The abbey was in use until the Dissolution of the monasteries under King Henry the VIII. It was then turned into a barrack under Elizabeth in 1592.

Cromwell during his conquest of Ireland besieged it in 1645 and caused much devastation on the site. There is also the possibility of stone quarrying at the site hence why some buildings are no more.

The site is well preserved and if your in the area take a look. There is also some transitional architecture from Romanesque to early Gothic. Some stone carving details remain and are pointed out on the map which you will receive when you visit.

Boyle Abbey can be found here using google maps with this unque code:

XPF3+C5 Boyle, County Roscommon

Thanks for watching and our next video will take us to The Chieftain Statue in Roscommon.

Weekend in Galway, Ireland // Guinness, Irish music, and food!

After two weeks in Ireland we're making on final stop to visit the town of Galways, Ireland. Located on the western coast of Ireland, this charming town is an epicenter for Irish culture, food, and fun! We spent our weekend in Galways eating Shepherd's Pie, drinking Guinness, wandering the streets of Galway's Latin Quarter and beyond, and finally heard our first live Irish music.

We absolutely loved our time in Galway and it was the perfect way to conclude our time in Ireland. We hope to be back in the Emerald Isle one day sooner rather than later!
