Nuestra principal preocupación sigue siendo el Río Linta, que si tiene agua nos va a a tocar tener que dar la vuelta y enfrentarnos al suplicio de volver por donde hemos venido.

Betsileo Country Lodge ligt 8 kilometer buiten het stadje Ambalavao, direct aan de RN7 op een heuvel tegenover de berg 'de kapitein'. De lodge biedt 14 ruime kamers met balkon en uitzicht op de berg, de rijstvelden en het lokale leven. Het serveert heerlijke gerechten in hun orangerie en een ontbijt kan buiten in de zon met uitzicht geserveerd worden. Verder worden er mooie wandelingen georganiseerd in de regio die een indrukwekkende blik geven in de cultuur van de Betsileo. Ook is dit het vertrekpunt voor een trekking in het Andringitra gebergte.

Angoraziegen und Teppichproduktion in Ampanihy in Madagaskar
Im Jahre 1970 wurden das erste Mal Angoraziegen nach Madagaskar, im Rahmen eines Entwicklungsprojekts, eingeführt. Nicht nur die Region von Ampanihy eignet sich sehr gut für Ziegen, auch die hier ansässige Ethnie, erlaubt das Halten von Ziegen, im Gegensatz zum Hochland, denn hier gilt es als «fady» (Tabu).
Leider wurden die Angoraziegen sehr schnell mit den lokalen Rassen gekreuzt und so nahm die gute Qualität der Wolle schnell ab und die Produktion wurde eingestellt.
Ein zweiter Versuch fand dann in den 90er-Jahren statt, indem nochmals reinrassige Angoraziegen nach Madagaskar importiert wurden.
Jahre lang wurden viele schöne Teppiche geknüpft und vor Ort, in Tulear sowie ins Ausland verkauft.
