Almere is the newest city in the Netherlands: the land on which the city sits, the Southern Flevoland polder, was reclaimed from the IJsselmeer from 1959 to 1968. The first house was finished in 1976, and Almere became a municipality in 1984. It has the largest population of the municipalities in Flevoland with 207,904 citizens in 2019 and the 7th largest in the Netherlands. About Almere:
In the province of Flevoland in Holland is a fairly young city. The name of this city is Almere. Almere has been around for about 45 years and was built on the reclamation of the IJsselmeer. Almere is therefore a polder. Almere has had a modern appearance for several years now.
Almere consists of different city districts. Almere Haven is the oldest and is located on the water. Almere Haven is known for its cozy little boulevard and its typical architectural style. Almere Stad is rapidly developing into a large city. Almere Buiten is known for its spatial layout.
Almere is surrounded by beautiful nature and is known by nature lovers for the protected nature reserve ''Oostvaardersplassen'', this area is located between Almere and Lelystad. I would like to make some drone shots in this area, but unfortunately, this is not allowed without approval from Staatsbosbeheer. Maybe in the future, I will try to get permission to make some recordings outside the breeding period of the birds.
In 2022 Almere will host the World Horticultural Exhibition called the Floriade. To this end, participants from all over the world exhibit the latest technologies in the field of sustainability and the environment. This exhibition is held once every 10 years.

Walking around in the very good looking (I think) City Centre and the new residential area Duin in Almere Poort. Almere poort is the newest part of what is a new city itself, with the first building completed only in 2005. Although Almere is a planned city, Almere Poort was not in the original city plans, but is rather a result of revised urban planning in accordance to Almere's more recent development plans assuming much higher target population and more prominent role as a satellite urban centre to Amsterdam.
