As promised here is the second part of my virtual tour about Pedro and Inês! This time I take you to Alcobaça, a small town in the Center of Portugal - not far from Coimbra - where the Alcobaça Monastery is located. This incredible monument was classified in the 1980s as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is where the tombs of the Portuguese Romeo and Juliet are!
I did something different in this video, using more voice-over than usual, since due to the restrictions of COVID19 I was unable to film without a mask inside the enclosed locations! Monastery of Alcobaça - Mosteiro de Alcobaça
Listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site in 1989 the Monastery of Alcobaça is one of the finest and most impressive examples of Cistercian architecture in Europe.
Built almost 900 years ago it is the largest Medieval Gothic church of Portugal.

We had a wonderful 3 week housesit in ALCOBAÇA over Christmas/New Year, so we had time to really explore this lovely town located in the Silver Coast region of Portugal.

Nazaré is famous for hosting the biggest waves on the planet. Before it was used to be a fishing town.
If you are travelling to Nazaré, you can also add to your list, visit Monestry of Alcobaça, you will Be amazed to see the architecture , if you know more about the history and background, the trip can be more interesting.
Not so far, you Can also travel to Batalha to see the Monestry Of Batalha, one of the most fascinating places in the Iberian Peninsula.
The Mosteiro de Batalha was built to celebrate the important military victory of the Battle of Aljubarrota of 1385 against Castilian.
