We visited Aluksne, a small city in Latvia. Although it was pretty cold outside we felt really warmly welcomed. Thank you Aluksne Tourism Centre for inviting us!

This summer we travelled close to home, through our country - Latvia. This short film is a reflection of this trip.
Featured places (in order of appearance):
- Kuldīga (with the widest waterfall in Europe)
- Jūrkalne (the beach on the Baltic shore)
- Alūksne (with very interesting boat houses)
- Vecpiebalga (with locally famous water lillies)
- Krāslava (a nice old town on the shores of river Daugava)
- Different other sights from above of river Daugava in Latgale region
- Foļvarka (and its bright blue Old Believers church)
- Aglona (with its famous Basilica)
- Līksna (its amazing church in the middle of almost nowhere)
- Sabile (the vineyard mentioned in the Guiness World Records book)
- Krustpils (the recently renovated castle)
- Preiļi (its manor in the process of being reborn)
- Velnezers (Devil's lake, a quiet and mysterious place in a forest near to Aglona)
- Vējiņi underground lakes (the only of its kind in the Baltics)
All this was shot mostly on Panasonic Lumix GH5, with some exceptions when I was being lazy - iPhone 12 Pro Max and Canon 5D Mark IV.

Tā ir mana pilsēta Alūksne!
Tik ļoti daudz cilvēki atrodas prom no savām dzimtajām mājām, viens no tiem arī es. Vienalga kur atrastos, vai šobrīd Amsterdamā, zemē kur cilvēki daudz saticīgāki izpalīdzīgi un jaukāki viens pret otru. Es tomēr nekad neaizmirstu par savām mājām kas ir dziļi sirdī un tā ir Alūksne, daudziem tā skaitās vieta kur neviena nav un nav iespēju izplosīties izklaidēties. Jā man arī tā ir licies. Bet gadiem ejot katru reizi Alūksnē atgriežoties es redzu kultūras līmeni augam gan apskates punktos gan jauko cilvēku acīs. Nekur es nespēju rast mieru es esmu kā laika mašīna kurai patik ik pa laikam nomainīt vietu un laiku, rast jaunos piedzīvojumus. Bet tomēr vienmer asaras acīs un smaids sejā atgriežoties savā dzimtajā pilsētā Alūksnē. Kur maizīte ir garšīgāka , ūdens ir dzidrāks un āboli saldāki.

Latvijā vienīgais funkcionējošais regulārās pasažieru satiksmes Gulbenes – Alūksnes šaursliežu dzelzceļš. Bānītis kursē katru dienu. Alūksnes dienviddaļā celto Alūksnes stacijas ēku atklāja 1903. g. 33 km garo līniju, kurā ir 10 stacijas un pieturas punkti, bānītis veic ~ pusotras stundas laikā. Vasaras sezonā tiek piedāvāti speciālie tvaika reisi ar restaurēto tvaika lokomotīvi “Ferdinands”.
Kopš 1998. gada Gulbenes – Alūksnes šaursliežu dzelzceļš, tai skaitā sliežu ceļi, ritošais sastāvs, inženierbūves, aprīkojums un dzelzceļa ēkas ir valsts nozīmes vēstures piemineklis.
2018.gada 1.septembrī restaurētajā Bānīša stacijas bagāžas šķūnī apmeklētājiem durvis vēra multimediāla ekspozīcija Alūksnes Bānīša stacija, kas veltīta Gulbenes-Aluksnes šaursliežu līnijai, Baltijas reģionā vienīgai, pa kuru joprojām tiek veikti regulāri pasažieru pārvadājumi.
Dzīvesstāstos un laikmetu ainās, fotogrāfijās un videosižetos apmeklētājiem ir iespēja atklāt dzelzceļa vēstures faktus, dzirdēt unikālus 10 staciju stāstus, kas vēsta par laikmetu ainām un Bānīti kā palīgu, darbavietu un iedvesmas avotu.
Pēc ekspozīcijas apskates var labi paēst Burgeru kafejnīca “Tvaiks un ogle”, kas atrodas vēsturiskajā stacijas ēkā - Alūksnes Bānīša stacijas kvartālā.

South-Eastern ESTONIA: Part 3/3 (Nina, Veru, Munamagi, Vatseliina, Aluksne, Vonadzini)
This is the final part of the three-part video about our trip through south-eastern Estonia after running around the Viljandi lake. Parts One and Two can be seen here:

On this day, we woke up near Lake Peipus and went all the way south to a very beautiful city Veru. Afterwards, we visited another nice town Rouge () where an impressive watchtower is located (Ööbikuorg - the one that looks like a two-stories bird nest).
Then we went to the highest peak in the whole Baltic States - the Great Munamagi (317.4 meters above sea level). Next, an ancient castle ruins in Vatseliina and then back to Latvia.
In Latvia, we took a tour around the most beautiful places in Aluksne before ending the day in a camping Vonadzini (meaning Little hawks in the Latgalian language) right at the coast of Lake Ludza. We were lucky to watch a beyond-just-beautiful sunset there as you can see in the video.
