Welcome to Jahra, Kuwait - the city with the hottest ever recorded temperature on earth!
I went to Kuwait a few months ago, on the exact hottest day of the year, so I could see what life is like in the brutal heat!! How on earth can people survive and do their daily activities when it’s 55 degrees Celsius, or 140 degrees Fahrenheit outside? How can they eat? Sleep? Pray? Enjoy life?
I met up with my local friend, Sulaiman, and together we went on an adventure of a lifetime, from the urban city life to deep inside the desert on the Saudi border.

Salman the Persian (Persian: سلمان فارسی, romanized: Salman Al-Farsi (Arabic: سَلْمَان ٱلْفَارِسِيّ, romanized: Salmān al-Fārisī) was a Persian Companion of the Prophet Muhammad. He was raised as a Zoroastrian in the Sasanian Empire, then was attracted to Christianity, and then converted to Islam after meeting Muhammad in the city of Yathrib, which later became Medina. During some of his later meetings with the other Companions, he was referred to by the kunyah Abu ʿAbdullah Father of Abdullah.
Māriyya bint Shamʿūn (Arabic: ماریة بنت شمعون), better known as Māriyyah al-Qibṭiyyah or al-Qubṭiyya (Arabic: مارية القبطية), or Mary the Copt, died 637, was an Egyptian woman who, along with her sister Sirin bint Shamun, was sent to the Islamic prophet Muhammad in 628 as a gift by Al-Muqawqis, a Christian governor of Alexandria, during the territory's Sasanian occupation. She and her sister were slaves.She spent the rest of her life in Medina and had a son, Ibrahim with Muhammad. The son died as an infant and she died almost five years later.

Travelling to Aleppo, Syria was a travel experience we will never forget. For so many reasons, traveling here has been one of the most intense, and humbling experiences we've ever had. Visiting only one month after the earthquake of February 2023, we saw a city in recovery, yet again. Life here and the people of this city here have been through so much. But the spirit of this unique place in an even more unique country shines through, even to as an independent, foreign traveller s and passers through like us.
