51k Solo Trek to Ala-Kul Lake in Kyrgyzstan ????????

The trek to Ala-Kul lake is one of the most famous in Kyrgyzstan and because I thought it would be a tourist trap I was almost going to skip it. I decided to go for this 3-day trek anyway and I have no regrets whatsoever.
Day 1:
The trek starts of in the Karakol National Park passes at camp 1 and then I slept at camp 2 aka Camp Sirota.

Day 2:
Starting at Sirota camp I made my way to the Ala-Kul lake followed by crossing the Ala-Kul pass at 3900 meters above sealevel. After hiking all day I reached Altyn-Arashan where I slept in a guesthouse with the same name.

After a quick stop at the 'natural' hotsprings we made our way to Ak-Suu where we took a 25 Som marshrutka (minibus) back to Karakol.

Kyrgyzstan is an amazing, uncommon travel destination. With an incredible display of rivers, waterfalls, and nearly 2,000 lakes, its beautiful mountainous landscape has provided the setting for over 2,000 years of history. We spent 10 days in Kyrgyzstan and explored many of its most famous places.
So our travel plan was to explore the following places in 7 days: Jalgyz-Karagay pass, Song-Kol lake, Tash-Rabat, Chatyr-Kol Lake, Kel-Suu lake, KochKor Village, Eagle Hunting Experience, The Skazka Canyon, Jetty-Oguz red mountains, Karakol village, and Grigorievka gorge.

Trekking in Kyrgyzstan
We completed an amazing 4-day hike in Kyrgystan's Tian Shan mountain range. Initially, we were planning on doing the 7 day Ak Su Transverse trek that goes to Ala Kul Lake, however, due to a huge storm we didn't complete the last three days.
Our journey started with a bus from Karakol to the village of Jyrgalan, we then completed 60km over four days to reach Alytn-Arashan. We stayed in one yurt camp and wild camped the rest of the way.
We saw nomads on horses, passed by yurts, goats and cows, and some beautiful snow-covered mountains.

How could I miss the most famous hike in Kyrgyzstan? Ala Kul is one of the most famous destinations in the Issik-Kul region, so I started a 3 days journey in Karakol National Park trying to reach this incredible lake located at 3500 metres above sea level.

Amazing 3 Day trek in Kyrgyzstan : Ala Kul Lake
Experience the stunning natural beauty of Kyrgyzstan on this 2-night, 3-day hike to Alakul Lake and Altyn Arashan. Kyrgyyzstan is one of the most naturally beautiful countries we have ever seen. There is just so much amazing mountain scenery.
We'll start our journey from Karakol hiiking straight to a high altitude yurt camp, nestled at the base of Ala Kul Lake 3500m.
On day 2, we'll hike to the natural hot springs of Altyn Arashan via the 4000m pass behind Ala kul Lake. Situated in a valley surrounded by snow-covered peaks Ala Kul is incredible. After a looooong day of hiking, we'll relax in the hot springs and soak in the healing waters while enjoying a well earned hot meal.
The final day of our journey will take us through picturesque mountains as we make our way back to civilization. Along the way, we'll get a glimpse into the traditional way of life of the Kyrgyz people and experience how they live.

Amazing hot springs in Kyrgyzstan! (Altyn-Arashan hot springs)
Kyrgyzstan just doesn't stop surprising, from the giant mountains, and clear lakes, to wild hot springs. In this video, we wake up in the Altyn-Arashan valley after quite the journey to get here and enjoy the hot springs this place is famous for! On our way back to Bishkek we also make a stop at the largest lake in Kyrgyzstan, Issyk-Kul, to take a dip!

I am getting more local by the day.
Yesterday we got drunk with the owner of our hotel in a secret dungeon, after which I ended up with a traditional Kyrgyz hat and 100 years old suit.
So let me take you on a tour in and around the Kyrgyz city of Karakol.
We will start our journey in the Ak-Suu hot springs to fight the hangover, then we will drive all the way to the rock formations of Broken Heart and Seven Bulls in the neighbouring village.
And in the end we will visit some remarkable spots in Karakol and maybe - maybe eat a horse.

KYRGYZSTAN - Ak-Suu traverse hike Pt.1
In september 2021 we hiked 8 days on the Ak-Suu Traverse hike. This hike starts from Jyrgalan, a rural town close to Karakol, the hiking capital of Kyrgyzstan. The area offers many hiking trail and the Ak-Suu Traverse hike is the peak hiking experience in Kyrgyzstan's Ak-Suu region. During the hike you will cross high passes, camp at alpine lakes and see nomads with their herds.
It was a challenging yet beautiful trail. In this video I take you on the first 4 hiking days. You can start the Ak-Suu traverse hike straight from Jyrgalan but to save a day we got dropped of in the next valley and started hiking from Boz Ochuk.
Day 1: Boz Ochuk valley - Boz Ochuk Lake (13,5km-4,5h hiking)
Day 2: Boz Ochuk Lake - Lake just before Ailanysh pass (9km-4h hiking)
Day 3: Over Ailanysh pass decending to Ak-Suu valley (10km-3,5h hiking)
Day 4: Ak-suu valley - Altyn Arashan (12km-4,5h hiking)
The first 2 nights we slept at 3.400m and at night the green landscape was transformed in a snow white one. A bit cold but very magical!

After getting to know this beautiful couple in Jeti Ogus by chance, we started to connect and they decided to take me to have some traditional food and then to the perfect final spot in Ak Suu to finish one of the best days of traveling in Kyrgyzstan.
