Amrutheshwara Temple was built in the year 1196 by Amrutheshwara Dandanayaka under the rule of Hoysala King Veera Ballala II.This temple is a classic example of ancient Hoysala architecture.
Miniature decorative towers on the exterior walls of the temple are one of the unique features of this temple. This temple is in the ekakuta style with just one vimana, unlike other trikuta temples built by Hoysalas at Somnathpur and Belur.
The Tower of the temple is adorned with the sculptures of kirthimukhas and miniature decoratives. Mallitamma, believed to be one of the great architects of the Hoysala dynasty, started his career as a sculptor here in the Amrutheshwara Temple, which adds to the historical importance of this temple.
The exterior wall of the temple has panel sculptures, scenes from Hindu epics and legends.
The rows of shining lathe turned pillars that support the ceiling of the mantapa depict Hoysala-Chalukya decorative characteristics.
The main deity of the temple is Lord Shiva and the shiva linga at the temple is a 300-year-old Trimurti brought from the River Kandikevale in Nepal.
On the auspicious day of Sankranthi and Mahashivaratri, thousands of devotees visit this place to take the blessings of Lord Shiva.

Asandi is a village in Kadur taluk, Chikkamagaluru district, Karnataka, India. It is situated 8.0 km from Ajjampura railway station.
In ancient times it was a place of considerable importance. Under the Gangas (350–1000 CE) and the Hoysalas (1026–1343 CE) it was a chief city of a principality, which was governed by Vijayaditya, son of king Sripurusha, and in the 12th century and 13th century by a line of Ganga chiefs.

Located at about 14.50 km downstream of the Bhadra Dam, is built across the Bhadra River near Gondi Village, 11.56 km from Bhadravati Town, Shivamogga district. The Culturable Command Area (CCA) of the Gondi System is about 4,600 ha.
2. Honne Godda:
About 10 kms from Bhadravati is Honne Gudda, a hillock about 304.8 metres high which has a small temple. From this hillock, a panoramic view of the Bhadra River and its surrounding areas can be got. Its an ideal picnic spot.

???? JOURNEY SUMMARY:
Previously I had done Bangalore - Shirdi - Bangalore, 2 in 1 Vlog and this is the second journey in that series. I took KSRTC Non-AC sleeper from Bangalore to Udupi and this bus doesn't take the regular route via Hassan, Mangalore (Mangaluru) but instead goes via Shimoga, Thirthahalli. The conductor of the bus said he'll be sitting in the cabin so I couldn't vlog much on the first trip. From Shimoga, I got an opportunity to sit in the cabin and I captured as much as I could.
After reaching Udupi, I took Madhura Motors bus working between Udupi and Kollur Mookambika via Kundapura. I could capture the beautiful route of the Mangalore - Karwar highway. On the way, I captured Maravanthe Beach and short ghat ahead of Kollur.

Karnataka is a state in southwest India with Arabian Sea coastlines. The capital, Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore), is a high-tech hub known for its shopping and nightlife. To the southwest, Mysore is home to lavish temples including Mysore Palace, the former seat of the region’s maharajas. Chikmagalur or Chikkamagaluru is a district in the state of Karnataka. Coffee was first cultivated in India in Chikmagalur. The mountains in Chikmagalur which are a part of the Western Ghats are the source of rivers like Tunga and Bhadra. Mullayanagiri, which is the highest peak in Karnataka is located in the district. Located close to the region’s hilltop temples, coffee plantations, and national parks, the district capital’s biggest surprise is that it’s retained its off-the-beaten-path ambiance.

Final episode of our journey by the Chalukya Express from Pune to Kadur after a 10 days long trip to Ponda, Suravali, Ratnagiri, Mumbai & Pune. Really enjoyed the trip and the journey by the trains. In this episode the train covers several high speed sections & the loco in LHF mode honking frequently is a treat to watch. The landscape has changed dramatically with 100% electrification process in full swing & this could well be our most enjoyable train travel to date before electric poles & wires 'decorate' the railway tracks.
