Day 17- Vezelay Camino | Cheery Wagon Lodging & Dancing along a Sparkling Lake
Popping into the centre of La Souterraine to visit Saint-Jean gateway and a bakery. Picnic break at a sparkling blue lake on the outskirts of Chamborand. Sunday afternoon shop closure disappointment in Bénévent l'Abbaye. Unique accommodations at La Balade in a cheery little wagon. An evening of good food, good music, and good company.

Dans cette vidéo sans commentaire, nous vous proposons de faire le tour de la place de l'Espine (Docelles) et de vous faire votre propre idée des lieux où le 16 octobre 1984 fut découvert le corps de Grégory Villemin. Depuis les faits les lieux ont changé, il n'y avait pas de rambarde en béton au niveau du Barba, le transformateur derrière le local des pompiers n'était pas au même endroit et le pont Bailey à subit des rénovations.

Day 21- Vezelay Camino | Glamping in an Aixe-sur-Vienne Yurt
Aileen and I checked out late from our Limoges hotel as we had a short stage. Exiting the city was a long asphalt walk, and we were happy to get on cycle paths during the afternoon. After crossing the wide river we arrived in Aixe-sur-Vienne. Martine kindly welcomed us into her backyard for a night of glamping in her yurt.

Driving through the main shopping lane of the historic town of Chinon, in the Loire, France, gives us a quick preview of the lanes in which we'll soon be taking a little walk. It's primarily a pedestrian zone but our tour van has permission to bring us in here and then drop us off – very convenient for us.
We took a short drive uphill in our tour van and stopped for an overview of the Old Town – a spectacular vista down below, all those slate roofs on top of buildings dating back 400, 500 years old in some cases. There are remains of a large castle up on the hill also overlooking the town.

Day 25- Vezelay Camino | Wonderful Lanmary Forest Hiking in the Heart of the Périgord
Aileen and I hike together through Lanmary Forest to Périgueux. The woods have a few fun surprises as we continue through the heart of the Perigord.
Day 27 - Vezelay Camino | Abundance of Bridge Dancing, Chancelade Abbey, & Fun with Three Peregrinas
Aileen and I are joined by Colleen for the Vezelay Camino segment from Perigeaux to Sainte-Astier. A rainy uninspiring walk out of the city can’t dampen our spirits. After a hot coffee warm up we explore the 1000-year old Abbey of Chancelade. Stunning forest walking with autumn colours and the lovely L’Aire river are the highlights of the afternoon. After crossing the bridge into Sainte-Astier and a quick pint we are whisked away to Colleen’s home. Colleen and Gerry provide exceptional pilgrim hospitality with cold beer, hot homemade meal, and warm conversation.

Train à Vapeur 141 TD 740
French steam locomotive 141 TD 740 and carriages returning to Limoges from Saint Junien both in the Haute-Vienne 87 in France. Here its crossing the passage à niveau climbing towards Limoges from Aixe-sur-Vienne ,video shot from crossing keepers cottage. They say this is an annual outing for the loco and the members of the Association CFTLP mainly to see that all is well before the train takes up its summer

Day 23- Vezelay Camino | Nasty Dog Bite & Solo Camping in the Woods
Aileen leaves the Chalus B&B early for a long 36km hike to reach open pilgrim accommodations. I have my tent, so I take my time meandering through the woods. A few detours and navigation error extend my day. A nice dog does a trick at my lunch stop. A nasty Pitbull pounces and bites my arm just outside La Coquille. A lemonade soothes my nerves and I venture into the forest to find a place to tent. I’m in good spirits so I film my tent setup and then eat random food for dinner.

Day 14- Vezelay Camino | Slick Mud, a Spooky Bar, and Making a New Friend
Left the gorgeous Sarzay Castle behind to continue on the Vezelay Camino. Had a few close calls with slippery mud but managed to stay upright. Met a new pilgrim friend- Aileen from Germany. We both enjoyed drinks in a fun Halloween decorated bar in Neuvy-Saint-Sepulchre. We walked together to Cluis and chatted with a local hiking group. Aileen and I decided to stay together at the funky Terrain Minet Gite.

Day 6 - Vezelay Camino | Anchors Aweigh to the Royal Forge Town of Guerigny
Hiked through Premery with stops to admire the castle and church. Alternating walking between farmland of forest towards Guerigny. Supermarket shop and comfortable municipal gite albergue.
