What to see in Catania, Sicily, Italy
On this episode of You, Me and Sicily we take you around the Province of Catania. We start in the downtown historic section, with the Duomo dedicated to Saint Agatha, the famous fish market , Teatro Bellini, the public garden and Roman ruins.

Next we explore Caltagirone one of the premier ceramic towns in Sicily. Off we go to the villages of Mount Etna including Via Grande, Aci Catena and Acitrezza. Her ashes act as a fertilizer and so there are plentiful produce. But she also destroys with the eruption of 1669. The region has also endured several earthquakes.
We highlight the Octoberfest in Zafferana Etnea and Carnival in Acireale. Bronte is the king of pistachios and you can not miss Acitrezza and Aci Castello.

The barrier that I climbed over to reach the site was put in place to prevent uncivilized people from throwing waste in via Ceuta, but it's a public route.
The entire complex stands on top of a hill, in a prominent position with respect to the surrounding countryside. It is a type of fortified farm. It has an irregularly shaped city wall, interspersed with some surveillance garages.
Within the walls there are two buildings: the first, oriented east / west, probably represented the residential area; the second, oriented north / south, probably housed all the activities related to the cultivation of the vast territory subjected to the control of the great masseria. Finally, at the confluence of the two structures stands an imposing tower with an irregular polygonal plan. This last structure would seem to present a building stratification dating back to an older period, possibly medieval.

What we miss and don't miss living in Sicily
We are two expats living in Aci Catena right outside of Catania Sicily. While we love living here there are some things we miss and some things we really don't miss from the U.S. For instance ease of doing things because of all the bureaucratic red tape. Lack of good quality fast speed internet is a big issue in some areas. There are certain foods we miss as well. But at the end of the day we love our life in Sicily.

Sicilian olive harvest, buying olive oil, PLUS goat sightings and chestnuts
Olives are being harvested all over Sicily. We take you up close to see how its done near our house in Aci Catena Sicily. Get great Sicilian Olive oil here:
Plus we discuss the olive oil making process and what is the best type of olive oil to buy. Buying Italian made or imported olive oil you have to look at the labels.

Castellammare del Golfo is the scene for the shooting of Indiana Jones 5, Harrison Ford and Antonio Bandaras have been spotted by locals.
We visited our chestnut guy and listen to him speak Sicilian dialect. There are many Sicilian dialects across the island where it is still spoken.
