Merthyr Tydfil - March 2011
I traveled to Merthyr Tydfil in mid-March. This is the place in Wales where my grandfather's family came from.
Yes, that is me singing two old Welsh folk songs.
Below are some links further explaining the things you will see in the filmstrip, if you have any interest in any of them after viewing the video.

Valley Line Bashing (17th August 2014)
This was filmed during a Sunday when services weren't good but this is a journey across the Welsh Valleys and the Vale of Glanmorgan line apart from Maesteg and Ebbw Vale Parkway, there wasn't time to fit them in.
First of all I filmed 5B10 arriving from Cardiff Canton to terminate at Newport to form the first train to Cardiff Central but this was the 1B10 0927 to Milford Haven, on arrivall into Cardiff Central, boarded the 2R06 1006 to Rhymney which took a while but arrived an hour later, these were worked by Class 142, 142075 and Class 143, 143609 Sir Tom Jones.
After a 3 minute turn around and getting some photos quick, I traveled on the 2Y24 1109 to Barry Island but got off at Cardiff Queen Street to ride on a Class 153 to Cardiff Bay and back.
After a quick ride to the Bay, boarded 2M14 1230 to Merthyr Tydfil which I arrived at 1328, after a change around, the same train formed 2E12 1338 to Bridgend to change at Abercynon to catch the 2A12 1419 to Aberdare which were worked by the same units I had to Rhymney!
After a quick look around, boarded 2Y52 1453 to Barry Island but got off at Pontypridd, with a 14 minute connection time, I walked to the other platform and waited for another Pacer to arrive to take me to 2T12 1536 to Treherbert, these two DMUs I would have to put up for the next 3 hours!!!
With an arrival time into Treherbert of 1610 and left on the 2Y64 1617 to Barry Island and traveled on this train to the end, with a arrival time of 1753, after a few minutes, I was on the same train out 2M24 1755 to Merthyr Tydfil but got off at Grangetown and took a break from train travel to visit Cardiff City football Stadium.
After a quick break, boarded 2F54 1849 to Cardiff Central, the train terminated at the Welsh Capital but I was changing trains for a First Great Western service to Swansea but stopping off at Bridgend to change onto the 2F62 1942 to Cardiff Central via the Vale of Glanmorgan but while on the train, that with a minute connection change at Grangetown, at 2034, I can board a train at 2035 to Penarth.
Once at Grangetown, made the connection and was on the 2P94 2035 to Penarth worked by Class 143, 143601, at Penarth quick stop and back to Cardiff Central to get something to eat and then was suppose to leave on a Warnminster Train but since a Swansea to London Paddington HST was going to leave first, quickly swapped trains and left for Newport, on arrival into Newport, the Warnminster Train worked by a Class 158 followed the HST, a quick walk to the hotel to end the show.
