Montenegro (/ˌmɒntɪˈniːɡroʊ, -ˈneɪɡroʊ, -ˈnɛɡroʊ/ (audio speaker iconlisten); Montenegrin: Crna Gora,[a] Црна Гора, lit. 'Black Mountain', pronounced [tsr̩̂ːnaː ɡǒra]; Albanian: Mali i zi) is a country in Southeastern Europe. It is located on the Adriatic Sea and is a part of the Balkans, sharing borders with Serbia to the northeast, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the north and west, Kosovo[c] to the east, Albania to the southeast, the Adriatic Sea and Croatia to the southwest, and maritime boundary with Italy. Podgorica, the capital and largest city, covers 10.4% of Montenegro's territory of 13,812 square kilometres (5,333 sq mi), and is home to roughly 30% of its total population of 621,000.

During the Early Medieval period, three principalities were located on the territory of modern-day Montenegro: Duklja, roughly corresponding to the southern half; Travunia, the west; and Rascia proper, the north. The Principality of Zeta emerged in the 14th and 15th centuries. From the late 14th century to the late 18th century, large parts of southern Montenegro were ruled by the Venetian Republic and incorporated into Venetian Albania. The name Montenegro was first used to refer to the country in the late 15th century. After falling under Ottoman rule, Montenegro regained its independence in 1696 under the rule of the House of Petrović-Njegoš, first as a theocracy and later as a secular principality. Montenegro's independence was recognised by the Great Powers at the Congress of Berlin in 1878. In 1910, the country became a kingdom.

After World War I, the kingdom became part of Yugoslavia. Following the breakup of Yugoslavia, the republics of Serbia and Montenegro together proclaimed a federation. Following an independence referendum held in May 2006, Montenegro declared its independence and the confederation peacefully dissolved.

Montenegro has an upper middle-income economy and ranks 48th in the Human Development Index. It is a member of the United Nations, NATO, the World Trade Organization, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, the Council of Europe, and the Central European Free Trade Agreement. Montenegro is also a founding member of the Union for the Mediterranean, and is currently in the process of joining the European Union Montenegro is divided into twenty-four municipalities (opština). This includes 21 District-level Municipalities and 2 Urban Municipalities, with two subdivisions of Podgorica municipality, listed below. Each municipality can contain multiple cities and towns. Historically, the territory of the country was divided into nahije.

Montenegro: Durmitor National Park ❄️ Žabljak, Piva Lakes & Winter Wonderland [Montenegro Roadtrip]

???? October 11th, 2021 ▶️ Coming back to Montenegro from the Peaks of the Balkans Trek, I made my way straight to the main mountain area of the country: The amazing Durmitor National Park! Renting out a cosy small cabin in Žabljak, I had the perfect base to explore the Durmitor Ring Road including a short detour to the Piva Lakes as well as the smaller lakes in the area. My time in Durmitor ended with the most amazing winter wonderland landscapes thanks to a lot of fresh snow! ❄

Manastir Ostrog / Ostrog Monastery Montenegro 4K

#greetingsfromMontenegroZbyglus Ostrog Monastery is the most famous place of pilgrimage of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro. To this day, she continues to get involved in the country's politics. The pilgrims, on the other hand, are primarily looking for healing – and a partner for life.
This is a sacred place. This is, so to speak, our Orthodox Jerusalem. And people come here from all over the world, regardless of religion and nationality.” The holy Jerusalem of the Serbian Orthodox Church, as the pilgrim Dragana calls it, is a monastery in northern Montenegro: Ostrog. In the middle of the 17th century, at an altitude of 900 meters, this monastery was built into a steep rock face - inaccessible to all enemies, especially to Ottoman conquerors.
“Our saint is called Sv. Vasilije Ostroski. It lies here 400 years.” The Serbian Orthodox bishop Vasilije, who was canonized for the miracles attributed to him, was born in 1610 in neighboring Herzegovina. Bishop Vasilije founded Ostrog and died there in 1671. His bones lie under a blanket in the open coffin in the monastery's small burial chapel, a magnet for visitors. Believers all over the world, alone or in groups, stay there. It is a meeting place for three faiths: Orthodox, Catholics and Muslims, as it is believed that the preserved relics of St. Bazyli Ostrogi do miracles. According to pilgrims, praying by the body of Vasily allows you to heal and cope with the difficulties of life.

Montenegro Teil 1 / schockverliebt in Montenegro

ETAPPE:
Was ein aufregender Tag!

On todays Travel Vlog I go horseback riding in Žabljak, Montenegro with friends Stephen and Rosa. We were up nice and early on Sunday morning to take on the challenge. Unfortunately for us the weather was cloudy and raining. However this made the experience all the more fun.

The cost to go horseback riding varies throughout the different tourist agencies in town. You would expect to pay any where between £ 15 - 25.

Overall it was a fun and unique experience that I would highly recommend to travelers wanting to experience authentic Montenegro.

➽ Fun facts about Žabljak

Žabljak is a small town in northern Montenegro. It has a population of 1,723. Žabljak is the seat of Žabljak Municipality. The town is in the centre of the Durmitor mountain region and with an altitude of 1,456 metres, it is the highest situated Balkan town.

Zlatibor To Zabljak In Montenegro || Day 2 || Notesfromtheroadbyfaji

Day 2

Zlatibor To Zabljak In Montenegro

Here is the video of the 2nd day of our trip. After the beautiful stay at the Brvnare mrkic cottage we started our 2nd day drive in the morning.

First we drove to Mokra Gora and then to Zlatibor market place, spent some time had food and left from there.

It was drizzling day at Zlatibor. We headed to Montenegro border. Google sometimes act weird and take to some dead ends????

The process at border was very easy. They ask for our Passport, PCR and Car papers. After stamping the passport we continued our drive to Zabljak in Montenegro.

We found a great place to stay in Zabljak near to centre. And the places to visit in Zabljak was also not so far. Those details will be coming in next videos.

By then enjoy this video.....Stay tuned for more????
