Semanín (German called Schirmdorf, from which the Latin name Villa Zirmeri was derived) is a village in eastern Bohemia in the Pardubice Region. It is located in the district of Ústí nad Orlicí and has 631 [1] inhabitants and an area of 886 ha. Territory above Orlicí from the border with the district Svitavy. The dominant and the biggest attraction of the village is the historic bell tower dating from the beginning of the 17th century. Castle Střekov, Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic from Travel with Iva Jasperson

Castle Střekov, Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic from Travel with Iva Jasperson

Hello everyone...
Střekov Castle was built in 1316 for John of Luxembourg, the father of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV, to guard an important trade route to Germany. After changing hands several times, the castle was acquired by the Lobkowicz family in 1563. Its strategic importance led to occupations by Imperial Habsburg, Saxon, and Swedish forces during the Thirty Years' War, as well as successive sieges by Austrian and Prussian armies during the Seven Years' War. Although Střekov Castle was heavily damaged during those conflicts and abandoned as a military installation by the end of the 18th century, the 1800s saw many poets and artists visiting the castle, drawn by a new trend of interest in romantic ruins. Goethe declared the view from the castle's position above the Elbe to be the most beautiful in Central Europe, while Richard Wagner's opera Tannhäuser was supposedly inspired by his visit to Strěkov. The castle was confiscated by the Nazi regime and later the Communist government, but was restituted to the Lobkowicz family in the early 1990s.

Moravská Třebova is possibly Moravia's most underrated tourist destination.

prague czech republic travel advice

Prague (/ˈprɑːɡ/; Czech: Praha, [ˈpraɦa] ( listen)) is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. It is the fifteenth-largest city in the European Union.[5] It is also the historical capital of Bohemia. Situated in the north-west of the country on the Vltava River, the city is home to about 1.24 million people, while its larger urban zone is estimated to have a population of nearly 2 million.[6] The city has a temperate climate, with warm summers and chilly winters. The origin of the name Praha is rather associated with the word prah (that means a 'threshold'), which is a rapid on the river. More info

Prague - Praha,Prag,CZ

The city proper is home to about 1.3 million people, while its metropolitan area is estimated to have a population of over 2.3 million.[5] Prague has been a political, cultural and economic centre of Europe and particularly central Europe for the over 1,100 years of its existence. For centuries, during the Gothic and Renaissance eras, Prague was the permanent seat of two Holy Roman Emperors and thus was also the capital of the Holy Roman Empire. The city played roles in the Protestant Reformation, the Thirty Years' War, and in 20th-century history, both during the two World Wars and during the post-war Communist era.

Prague is home to a number of famous cultural attractions, many of which survived the violence and destruction of twentieth century Europe. Since 1992, the extensive historic centre of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites, making the city one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, receiving more than 4.1 million international visitors annually, as of 2009[update].[6][7] Prague is classified as a global city.

The modern economy of Prague is largely service and export-based and, in an 2010 survey, the city was named the best city in East Europe for business.[8]

Walking in BRNO / Czech Republic ????????- Summer Tour - 4K 60fps (UHD)

Brno in the Czech Republic was the first video on the channel. This time we return to Brno during summer and start our tour at the train station (Brno hlavní nádraží).

We walk to the city centre with the Cabbage Market square (Zelný trh), pass the Old Town Hall on our way to Liberty Square (nám. Svobody).

A few detours around the city we finally walk to the Špilberk Castle to enjoy the view over this city. We get down, stroll around the city a bit more and end our walk where we started - at the train station (hlavní nádraží).

Sports Hall Roof COLLAPSES During Match in Czech Republic

Around 80 people had to run for their lives after a sports hall roof collapsed during a floorball game. The incident happened in Ceska Trebova, in the north-eastern part of the Czech Republic. Dramatic footage shows the match taking place before all the players and spectators suddenly sprinting for the exit as the ceiling starts to cave in. Two boys suffered minor injuries but everyone else escaped unhurt. Although the incident was preceded by several days of heavy snow, leaving a 25-centimetre (10-inch) layer on the roof, experts believe the building had a construction flaw. The hall was opened on January 2 this year.

Plzen, Czech Republic, 7th July 2012

This town in western Bohemia is not far from the German border and so is very much, geographically, as well as culturally, in central Europe rather than 'Eastern' Europe. The architectural styles are a distinct blend, very colourful as well as pictorial and human-scale. The Automobile Association's routefinder puts it on the map between Budapest and the Channel ports due to the new motorway network which helps you to bypass Prague (if you want to). We timed it as 5 hours from Budapest and 10 hours from Dunkerque.

Masaryk station is one of the last impassable railway stations in Prague. Its history dates back to the middle of the 19th century, the station buildings are architecturally unique, and although its cancellation was considered, today it is used for transportation on important railway lines in the Czech Republic.
The state railway station (today Masarykovo) is the oldest station building in the center of Prague and at the same time the oldest operating terminal station in Europe (however, the very first Prague railway station was today's Praha-Dejvice station built in 1830).
After 1835, the construction of Emperor Ferdinand's Northern State Railway was started from Vienna via Brno , Olomouc , Česká Třebová , Pardubice , Kolín , which necessarily had to end in  Prague . A place on the edge of the lower New Town , a marginal place on the then periphery , near the walls, where there used to be houses, enclosures and gardens, poor with shacks and rich with villas , was chosen for the auction . The construction of the station building took 9 months and 4 thousand workers worked here . The station was built by the company of the brothers Klein and Vojtěch Lanna according to the plan of Ing, Antonín Jungling under the supervision of the Viennese architect P. Sprenger .
Construction began on both sides of the city walls between Nový Město and Karlín . The old walls were demolished and six new gates were made in the newly built wall for the arrival and departure of trains , which were closed in the evening. The part of the station beyond the gates was several times larger. There were warehouses, workshops, heating plants, turntables, warehouses for coal, wood, rails, etc. The first train arrived at the station on August 20, 1846 . Construction was completed in 1845, and the Prague State Railway Station then became the terminus of the Imperial-Royal Northern State Railway of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy . Regular public traffic on the line began on September 1, 1845. On the occasion of the wedding trip of Francis Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth of Bavaria, a government lounge was built at the station , which you can still admire today as part of the Open House Days.

The station originally consisted of two separate two-story buildings , one for arrivals and the other for departures. The wooden glazed roof of the platforms and the hall between the buildings supported by cast iron columns dates from 1862 . 7 years later, a restaurant building was built here on the corner of Hybernská and Havlíčkova streets. The station buildings and roofs are built in the style of High Empire and Classicism combined with the then modern, emerging architecture of the Romantic Neo-Renaissance. In 1922, a post office was added to the station on the eastern side of the departure building.

The departure building has two clock towers. It's insidelarge hall with cash registers , waiting room and post office . On the opposite side, an entrance building and a hall with a glass roof were built. The police guard and the customs office were located here . In 1866, a two-story building with an extended platform roof was built. The front made of cast iron links faces Havlíčkova street.

Prague Staatsbahnhof and Prague-Střed
In the course of history, the very name of today's Masaryk railway station changed very often - seven times in the last 170 years : until 1862, the railway station was called simply Prague (Prag), between 1862 and 1919 Prague State Railway Station (Prag Staatsbahnhof), during the First Republic ( until 1940) it was Prague Masarykovo nádraží, during the protectorate Prague Hybernské nádraží (Prag Hibernerbahnhof), from 1945 to 1952 Prague Masarykovo nádraží and during the communist era until 1990 Prague-Střed . From March 1990 until now it is again called Praha Masarykovo nádraží.

???????? Motorcycle adventure in the Czech Republic - a travel documentary - motorcycle tour cool bikers

-
* Our international viewers, please use the international subtitles.

The cool bikers are back from this year's summer tour. The destination was the beautiful Czech Republic. For a week we used the camping site Kemp Spindl in Spindleruv Mlyn in the Giant Mountains as a starting point. We had already reserved a parking space for the motorhome and our bikes in advance!

After seven days, all participants agreed that it was once again a mega tour!
