Montreuil-sur-mer - Région Hauts-de-France - S.Bern - Le village préféré des Français 2016

Contrairement à ce que pourrait faire croire son nom, Montreuil-sur-Mer se situe à plus de 10 kms de la côte ! Ce village a pourtant été un important port jusqu’au début du Moyen Âge. Plus de port aujourd'hui, mais 3 kilomètres de remparts qui confèrent à l'endroit tout son charme. Installée sur un promontoire, surplombant la vallée de la Canche, cette cité authentique et de caractère renferme un château, une abbatiale, un hôtel-Dieu, ainsi que de charmantes ruelles et venelles parcourues de maisons à pans de bois. Cette cité de caractère a été surnommée « le petit faubourg Saint-Germain » par Victor Hugo, qui a fait de Montreuil-sur-mer le théâtre d'une partie de son célébrissime roman « Les Misérables ».

Places to see in ( Bordeaux - France ) Musee des Beaux Arts

The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux is the fine arts museum of the city of Bordeaux, France. Established in 1801 by the painter Pierre Lacour, it is one of the largest art galleries of France outside Paris.

The museum is housed in a dependency of the Palais Rohan in central Bordeaux. Its collections regroup paintings, sculptures and drawings. The painting collection is the largest one and its strong points are works by French and Dutch painters. The museum holds several paintings that were looted by the French during the French revolution (so-called 'saisies révolutionnaires') such as the Martyrdom of Saint Georges by Peter Paul Rubens

Between the Verdun Gorge and the Côte d'Azur, at the foot of an impressive tuff rock, Cotignac's colorful facades give this artists' village a full character! I invite you to take a walk in this amazing village. Unfortunately, we did not visit the caves and troglodyte habitats. It was closed for lunch. But we got to the farmer's market and saw some interesting things and a small zoo. It will be interesting. Join us for a pleasant walk through a charming old French village. ❤️????️????

PROVENCE A village of character
Cotignac, a village of character with 2146 inhabitants, nestles at the foot of a huge tuff rock 400 meters long and 80 meters high. In the Quaternary era, the river La Cassole flowed over the rock. The current village was then only the base of this huge waterfall.
From the 1000s until the 19th century, this river was diverted and now passes east of the village and flows into the Argens. It is therefore the falls of this water that have formed all the crevices and the petrified waterfalls.

These caves have had various uses that have evolved over the centuries. Today, the Rock is the symbol of Cotignac and its history. We say here “Aquéu will no longer see Roco, é will be malérous”: That one will no longer see La Roche, and he will be unhappy.

Cotignac is a French commune located in the Var department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Its inhabitants are called Cotignacéens. The old village has several monuments listed on the supplementary inventory of historical monuments1 and the number of its inhabitants have increased very strongly since 19682. It also has a very active craft industry. It is a place of Catholic pilgrimage for fathers and mothers and couples expecting children3,4. The town has two religious sanctuaries.
