Kingston is the capital of the island of Jamaica, lying on its southeast coast. In the city center, the Bob Marley Museum is housed in the reggae singer’s former home. Nearby, Devon House is a colonial-era mansion with period furnishings. Hope Botanical Gardens & Zoo showcases native flora and fauna. Northeast of the city, the Blue Mountains are a renowned coffee-growing region with trails and waterfalls.
Facts About Kingston
1. Kingston was founded in 1692 as a place for survivors of the earthquake that destroyed Port Royal.
2. Located on the southeastern coast of the island, it is both the capital and largest city of Jamaica.
3. Kingston is the seat of government in Jamaica and the island's business capital. Even with the many opportunities for business, the resort area of Kingston is also known for cultural, educational, and leisure options. There are arguably more museums, dining and nightlife, and event options than anywhere else on the island.
4. It has the largest botanical gardens in the Caribbean. At 2,000 acres, Hope Gardens is home to many indigenous plants as well as the Coconut Museum, Sunken Gardens, Orchid House, Lily Pond, Maze, and Palm Avenue. A true must-see.

Rasta bắt nguồn sâu xa từ 1 nhân vật tên Marcus Garvey, là người tranh đấu cho quyền lợi của người da đen, ông có 1 lời tiên tri tới 1 vị vua sắp lên từ lục địa đen, đem đến giải phóng và tự do cho ng da đen đang bị ng da trắng cầm tù. Sau đó, vào năm 1930, Vua Haile Selassie I (tên hiệu của Tafari Makonnen) lên ngôi ở Ethiopia. Khi đó, ông được xem như vị vua nằm trong lời tiên đoán của Marcus Garvey, và được người da đen, đặc biệt là người Jamaica, tôn kính như vị vua của chính họ, trong đó có 1 người rất đặc biệt, tên Bob Marley. Bob sinh năm 1945, và ông là người đi tiên phong trong dòng nhạc Reggae, và là người rất tôn kính Haile Selassie I.
*Haile Selassie I là ai?
Rastafari (Ras Tafari Makonnen), Sinh ngày 23-07-1892 – mất ngày 27-08-1974, tên tục là Tafari Makonnen Woldemikael, (Sau khi lên ngôi tên ông được thêm chữ Ras, nghĩa là Vua). ông là con trai của 1 vị tộc trưởng của bộ tộc Amhara, thuộc dòng dõi hoàng tộc của Ethiopia. Lúc đó, Ethiopia bị phân chia theo các vùng cát cứ, vì đang bị quân Ý chiếm đóng, nhưng đến khi ông lên ngôi, ông là người thống nhất các bộ lạc, và lập thành vương quốc Ethiopia, và dùng Addis Ababa, một vùng đất bằng phẳng trên 1 ngọn núi ở phía Tây Nam Ethiopia làm thủ đô. Khi ông lên ngôi vua ngày 02/11/1930, ông được các thầy tế lễ Chính Thống Giáo (Orthodox) xức dầu và ban cho tên hiệu là Haile Selassie I (nghĩa là The Power of The Trinity). Ngoài ra, ông cũng được gọi là Ras Tafari (Vua Tafari vì Ras nghĩa là vua trong tiếng Amharic) và 1 vài tên hiệu sau: His Imperial Mejaesty, The Lion of Judah, The Defender of Faith. Đó là nguồn gốc của tên Rastafari. Ngày Haile Selassie I lên ngôi cũng được xem là ngày Rasta được thành lập.
*Đời sống Rasta là như thế nào?
Người Rasta là những người tin theo Haile Selassie I, cho rằng ông là tái sinh của Đức Chúa Giê-xu khi Ngài quay trở lại thế gian, theo như Kinh Thánh ghi. Nhưng càng về sau này, Rasta càng ngày càng mở cửa, và dần dần chấp nhận các hướng khác nhau để hướng đến Thượng Đế. Nhưng vẫn còn nhóm đa số những người Rasta vẫn còn giữ những niềm tin và nếp sống cũ, qua việc đọc Kinh Thánh và thiền định, và suy nghĩ về Thượng Đế.
Rasta vốn hiền lành, luôn muốn giữ sự bình an trong tâm tính, nên ko thích làm về hệ thống chính quyền, hoặc công an. Người Rasta giữ dreadlock như 1 lời hứa với Thượng Đế về nếp sống tin kính, và đức tin.
Cần sa đối với 1 người Rasta được xem như là 1 nghi thức tôn giáo, và đối với những người hardcore Rasta, họ ko hút cần tràn lan, mà chỉ đc dùng trong nghi thức tôn giáo, và khi muốn kết nối với Thượng Đế.Một người Rasta có thể gọi chính mình và anh em cùng niềm tin của mình là Rasta, nhưng nếu 1 người ngoại đạo gọi họ là Rasta thì sẽ bị khinh bỉ…
Người Rastafari gốc sẽ luôn ăn chay, và luôn xem trọng cơ thể mình vì họ cho rằng cơ thể là Đền Thờ cho Thượng Đế ngự vào.
Dreadlock: Là lời hứa với Thượng Đế trong việc bước đi, được dành riêng, và gìn giữ đức tin của mình với Ngài. Trong Holy Bible, có 1 đoạn nói về việc 1 người được biệt riêng, dành riêng ra cho Thượng Đế như sau:
- Không được để dao cạo, vật sắc nhọn sượt qua tóc; không hớt tóc.
- Không ăn trái nho, hoặc men rượu.
- Không được đụng vào người chết.
Vì tóc không được cắt gọt, nên tóc được người Rasta để dài và dread lại cho gọn trong quá trình giữ lời hứa với Thượng Đế. Điển hình là Bob Marley.
