About Niue: Niue is a self-governing island country in free association with New Zealand. It is situated in the South Pacific Ocean and is part of Polynesia, and predominantly inhabited by Polynesians. The island is commonly referred to as The Rock, which comes from the traditional name Rock of Polynesia. Niue is located in a triangle between Tonga, Samoa, and the Cook Islands. It is 2,400 kilometres (1,500 mi) northeast of New Zealand, and 604 kilometres (375 mi) northeast of Tonga. Niues land area is about 261.46 square kilometres (100.95 sq mi) and its population was 1,689 at the Census in 2022. Niue is one of the worlds largest coral islands. The terrain of the island has two noticeable levels. The higher level is made up of a limestone cliff running along the coast, with a plateau in the centre of the island reaching approximately 60 metres (200 ft) above sea level. The lower level is a coastal terrace approximately 0.5 km (0.3 miles) wide and about 25–27 metres (80–90 feet) high, which slopes down and meets the sea in small cliffs. A coral reef surrounds the island, with the only major break in the reef being in the central western coast, close to the capital, Alofi. Niue is subdivided into 14 villages (municipalities). EXPLORING the UNSEEN Side of New Caledonia - What You Didn't Know!
Discovering the secret 8th continent. According to scientists this is the secret 8th continent of the world: Zealandia...and according to the BBC, they only recently discovered its existence. Somehow New Caledonia is hated by many vloggers and even though its an island paradise, filled with stunning beaches and the local people are some of the most friendly people you could meet.
New Caledonia is France’s Australia, where they copied the English and set up a prison colony in an island far away.
It is a small island, so Noumea the capital is not the same as a large capital city that we are used to.

Putting New Sails to the Test (Sailing La Vagabonde) Ep. 63
We got new sails! It's not easy ordering sails over email but Bob from Neil Pryde Sails was great to deal with. We put them to the test and the start to our sail to Niue (590nm west across the Pacific Ocean) was a rough one. Poor Julian was as sea sick as they come and couldn’t go down below for most of the trip (I’m telling you, coffee is the devil when the seas are high!). We are hoping to get to the inside of a tiny reef in the middle of the ocean, a few hundred miles before Niue if the weather turns around. I guess we’ll see. Stay tuned and I hope you enjoyed :) Ps please don’t forget to thumbs up for dogs!! Maybe if we get enough likes Riley will let me have one…. Love Elay xo
