-which cruise were you on? we were on the aquamarine cruise, though we didn't specifically choose it. we booked our trip through viator, after which a tour agency matched us to a cruise (likely based on availability and price).

-how much did it cost? our cruise cost $310 at the time of booking. however, our tour agency contacted us via whatsapp around a week in advance to ask if we wanted to upgrade to a higher end cruise for $20 per person (we said yes). the final total was around $350 for two people.

-what activities were included? most 2 day 1 night cruises will follow a very similar itinerary, likely some variation of a pearl factory visit, kayaking at luon cave, hiking at titop island, cave exploration at sung sot cave, sunset party, cooking class, squid fishing, karaoke, and tai chi at sunrise. the biggest difference between the different cruises is probably the food on board and the quality of the amenities. if transportation to and from hanoi to ha long bay is important to you, double check that your cruise provides that as part of the booking.

-was it worth it? i would say this is very subjective — if you're looking for an immersive vietnamese culture experience or traveling on a budget, i would stay away and instead enjoy hanoi or another city, as this package is definitely geared towards tourists. however, if you're looking for an easy way to escape the city, see some beautiful scenery, and relax a bit, the cruise is a good option. if you're planning on visiting ha long bay anyway, i would definitely choose the overnight cruise vs. a day excursion on a boat — there is simply too much to see and do.

-any extra tips? we were offered free private car transportation from hanoi to hanoi airport in exchange for leaving a 5 star review on tripadvisor, so it is very likely that there are many fake reviews online. other than that, have fun and remember to bring ramen ????

OVERNIGHT LUXURY CRUISE in HA LONG BAY, VIETNAM - (what to expect with a 3 day 2 night cruise)

Welcome to our fifth video in our Vietnam series and part 2 of our Ha Long Bay Cruise!

In this video, we are cruising through Ha Long Bay on a 3-day, 2-night excursion. We will show you what our adventurous day two itinerary looked like aboard the Mon Cheri.

Ha Long Bay is located in northeast Vietnam and is one of the most popular travel destinations in the country. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for its stunning emerald waters and beautiful limestone cliffs. Tourists and locals alike come here to experience the secluded beaches, mysterious caves, and charming floating fishing villages.

Our first stop was to Cat Ba island. Cat Ba is the largest island in Ha Long Bay. It has such incredible biodiversity that a portion of the island has been designated as a National Park. Cat Ba has become increasingly popular for its beaches, trekking, biking, and visiting Viet Hai village. We had a blast biking to the quaint mountainside village.

While there are a few different ways to get to the lovely Viet Hai village, we highly recommend biking. The paved path winds through the jungle and offers beautiful views of the mountains, water, caves, and local life. We were able to see an area preserved for tourists to experience what village life was like 40 years ago. We learned about fishing, farming, and how villagers were able to obtain the necessities like food and water. While the village is becoming more modern, the people still live in great harmony with nature, making this a very peaceful stop on our day.

After lunch, we explored a fishing village, enjoyed some tea, and kayaked around the bay!

We ended our day with a delicious six-course meal while watching the sunset from the viewing deck!

Our boat only had 14 rooms, making it a luxury boutique tour with great service, large rooms and fun activities, including a tour on a bamboo boat, squid fishing, and spring roll making. We also take you on a tour of our room and of the boat. We had a fantastic experience with Orchid Cruises and we can highly recommend a cruise in Ha Long Bay. Our only regret was that we did not have an extra day onboard the boat. We will be back.

Should You Visit Halong Bay? ???????? Is This Vietnam Cruise Overrated?

If there’s one thing you should do in Vietnam, it’s to take a Halong Bay Cruise. At least that’s what everyone says online. Is that true, though? In this video I see whether or not the Halong Bay cruise is overrated.

I went to Halong Bay with Phoenix Cruiser in December 2022, a smaller and cheaper cruise option compared to many of the normal luxury cruises, and I indeded to see if the place really lives up to its hype.

In this video I show you the excursions and the activities on the cruise, along with food and things to do on board. The things included on this cruise were:

- A visit to the Surprise Cave
- Hiking or swimming on Titop Island
- Kayaking or rafting at Luon cave
- Spring rolls cooking class
- And of course, tons of wonderful food and excitings views of the Halong Bay UNESCO World Heritage Site

During this video I show you my thoughts about the different activities, the area, and I also offer some comments on the history and formation of Halong Bay...and some thoughts on the exploitation of the area.

So, is the cruise overrated, or is it actually worth a trip? I guess you'll have to watch the video to find out!

This place is a must visit destination in Vietnam. You can book a cruise to see the bay and spending day trip (like me), overnight or even 2 days on the water. Fun fact: Hạ Long means “descending dragon” in Vietnamese!

In this solo trip, I joined a tour group from Australia to experience the local side of Ha Long called Hong Gai where all the Vietnamese locals live. I even visited a wet fish market (which I still don't know the name) by myself which was really great experience.

Majority of tourists will stay at Bai Chay, the resort like area in Ha Long with full of amenities like Sun World Halong Complex, Vietnamese restaurants, parks, beach, shops etc. I shall come back again to Ha Long Bay with Helmi.
