AUTUMN ROAD TRIP IN THE LOIRE VALLEY: Chateau Chenonceau, Amboise, Saumur | BEST PLACES IN FRANCE
????A walk in the french country side - beautiful drive in a fairytale landscape!????
????Bonjour à tous!????????
I finally found some time to finish my vlog about a trip we took in the french countryside last October 2021 during the fall season in France. ???????? I know it's been a while! How have you been? I'm sorry I got busy with travel and sometimes I just couldn't focus on editing! ????
Anyways...
????I have never heard about the Loire Valley before but now that I've seen it for a couple of days I absolutely want to go back!
????I'm sure it's on the top list of things to see and do in France.
The Loire Valley is one of the most visited locations in France just 2-3 hours away from Paris.
????It is located in the regions of the Centre-Val-de-Loire and Pays-de-la-Loire.
It is also referred to as the Garden of France for the abundance of vineyards and fruit orchards - an excellent place for wine tours and gastronomic adventures.
????No wonder the whole valley is a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE.
????We had an enchanting roadtrip in the Loire Valley as it is filled with amazing scenery from vineyards to medieval towns, beautiful vilages, and magnificent chateaus.
????We went to three chateaus:
Chateau de Chenonceau,
Chateau Royal d'Amboise,
and
Chateau de Saumur.
????The valley is well connected by trains and buses and you can choose your itinerary since there are about 300 chateaus in here.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy this video and
????THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING MY CHANNEL!

The Loire's 10 Best Tourist Attractions
The Loire's 10 Best Travel Destinations (by Rough Guides)
10. Chenonceau
The Château de Chenonceau is a French château near the small village of Chenonceaux, in the Indre-et-Loire département of the Loire Valley in France. The château was built on the site of an old mill on the River Cher, sometime before its first mention in writing in the 11th century. It was designed by the French Renaissance architect Philibert de l'Orme.
9. Loire a Velo
A brand new network of cycle-paths and cycle routes on minor roads now makes cycling along the River Loire even more enjoyable -- and safer -- than it was before.
8. Chartres cathedral
Chartres Cathedral is a medieval Roman Rite Catholic cathedral located in Chartres, about 80 kilometres southwest of Paris. It is considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The current cathedral, mostly constructed between 1194 and 1250, is the last of at least five which have occupied the site since the town became a bishopric in the 4th century.
7. Food markets
Every town has its lively, traditional weekly market where you can stock up on picnic provisions and local specialities.
6. Canoe and kayak trips
The best way to get to know the River Loire is by boat, and you can rent canoes and kayaks all over the region.
5. Montsoreau and Candes-St-Martin
Candes-Saint-Martin is a commune in the Indre-et-Loire department in central France. It overlooks the confluence of the Vienne and Loire rivers from a steep hill on the left bank of the Loire, and marks the boundary between the modern departments of Indre-et-Loire to the east, and Maine-et-Loire to the West.
4. Villandry gardens
The lands where an ancient fortress once stood were known as Colombier until the 17th century. Acquired in the early 16th century by Jean Le Breton, France's Controller-General for War under King Francis I, a new château was constructed around the original 14th-century keep where King Philip II of France once met Richard I of England to discuss peace. It is also known for its beautiful gardens.
3. Au Cabernet d'Anjou
This former Loire mariners' bar enjoys a sun-flooded terrace overlooking one of the prettiest stretches of the river.
2. Chateaudun
Looming over the river on its clifftop height, little-visited Chateaudun is an eerily Gothic chateau. Châteaudun is located about 45 km northwest of Orléans, and about 50 km south-southwest of Chartres, on the river Loir, a tributary of the Sarthe.
1. Chateau de Blois
The Royal Château de Blois is located in the Loir-et-Cher département in the Loire Valley, in France, in the center of the city of Blois. The residence of several French kings, it is also the place where Joan of Arc went in 1429 to be blessed by the Archbishop of Reims before departing with her army to drive the English from Orléans. Built in the middle of the town that it effectively controlled, the château of Blois comprises several buildings constructed from the 13th to the 17th century around the main courtyard.

Places to see in ( Saumur - France ) Chateau de Saumur
Places to see in ( Saumur - France ) Chateau de Saumur
The Château de Saumur, originally built as a castle and later developed as a château, is located in the French town of Saumur, in the Maine-et-Loire département. It was originally constructed in the 10th century by Theobald I, Count of Blois, as a fortified stronghold against Norman predations. It overlooks the confluence of the Loire and the Thouet. In 1026 it came into the hands of Fulk Nerra, count of Anjou, who bequeathed it to his Plantagenet heirs. Following its destruction in 1067, the castle was rebuilt by Henry II of England in the later 12th century.
In the early part of the 13th century, Philip II of France made Saumur part of his royal domain. The page for September in the Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry depicts the Chateau as it looked in 1410. It changed hands several times until 1589 when the Protestant King Henry IV (of France and Navarre) gave the castle to Duplessis-Mornay.
In 1621 the castle was converted into an army barracks. Nearly two centuries later it was converted into a state prison under Napoleon Bonaparte. In the first part of the 20th century, the city of Saumur acquired the castle and began a restoration program to house the museum of the decorative arts. In line with the Saumur area's equestrian tradition and its famous Cadre Noir, the castle also serves as a Museum of the Horse. The castle has a dungeon and watchtower, and houses the Musée de la Figurine-Jouet, a collection of very old toys and figurines of soldiers, kings of France, and clowns.
The Château de Saumur has been listed as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture since 1862. As of 2008, there are a total of 46 buildings and structures in Saumur which are designated a Monument Historique - see the French national database Mérimée.
Most of the monuments are built in the lovely soft local stone known as tuffeau. Amongst the most important monuments are the great Château de Saumur itself which stands high overlooking the town, and the nearby Château de Beaulieu which stands just 200 metres from the south bank of the Loire river; designed by the renowned architect Jean Drapeau, it is recognised for its light and elegant architecture. Amongst the other Monuments Historiques are the church of Saint-Pierre in the Place St Pierre in the centre of Saumur, and the Château de Briacé which is located on the north side of the river. The architecture of Saumur is very well described in the book: Saumur - Promenade D'architectures, by Marie Jane Durand, and published by the Tourism Office of Saumur.
( Saumur - France ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Saumur . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Saumur - France

Travel to the incredible French palace: Château de Saumur
It was thrilling to me to visit this fairytale castle, originally built *1000 years ago*. Wrapped up in its protective shell, it is still under restoration: meticulous and using only traditional materials and methods.
In its long history, the castle has gone through many many lives and restorations: among other uses, it has been a prison, army barracks, residence. It is currently a Museum of the Horse as well as a museum of decorative arts.
And, yes, the river you see flowing below is the *Loire*, which means you can see the chateau while sipping some of France's most fabulous wines. In fact, you can see a vineyard growing right behind me.

From the boulevards of Paris to the fashionable seaside resorts of the Côte d'Azur, France offers some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Fairy-tale castles, glorious cathedrals, and picture-perfect villages delight romantics. At the same time, the country's contemporary monuments and rapid train transit jolt visitors from the storybook surroundings into the ambience of the 21st century.
Begin with the Eiffel Tower, the modern emblem of France. Then discover famous masterpieces of art at the Louvre Museum. Spend a day pretending to be royalty at the elegant Palace of Versailles. Save time for leisurely gourmet meals - traditional French gastronomy has been inscribed on the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Each region has its own distinctive cuisine and culture. The coastal region of Brittany offers the old-world charm of quaint fishing villages and ancient seaports, while the French Alps reveals the region's hearty cuisine of cheese fondue and charcuterie served in cozy chalets near ski slopes. Indulge in it all and savor the country's irresistible charm with our list of the top attractions in France.

Loire
The world's most famous collection of palaces is in the Loire Valley outside of Paris in France. It is a UNESCO World Heritage area and it has dozens of beautiful mansions that you can explore. We will bring you to the very best with some tips for your visit.
Chenonceau 1:08
Chenonceau is the most-visited château of the Loire Valley, France, and is the only one built across a river.
Chenanceau is most famous for its setting across the river. It’s as if the building formed a sort of island or ship moored in the rapidly running Cher River, which joins with the Loire River a few miles away. Our series about the châteaux of the Loire is also bringing you to Amboise, Chambord, Cheverny, Azay and Blois and a few other places, with our home base in the city of Tours.
Amboise 5:00
Amboise, in the Loire Valley, France, has two châteaux and a charming old town with souvenir shops and some excellent restaurants in a pedestrian.
Visit both the big castle and Clos Lucé, most famous as the final home of Leonardo da Vinci. You actually get to walk through Leonardo’s bedroom and his study, you can see the desk that he sat at – it’s really quite inspiring. Leonardo was already over 60 years old when he left Italy in 1516 to relocate to the château where he was supported in fine style by the king of France.
Amboise is famous for the grand château that was once the home of the French royal court. Francis the First was succeeded by his son Henry II who was succeeded by his son Francis the second, and he brought his young bride Mary Stuart, the Queen of the Scots, to the château.
Chambord 8:54
Chambord is the finest of all the châteaux in the Loire, France, and the largest.
The château to end all châteaux, a masterpiece, perhaps the greatest architectural triumph the French Renaissance ever created.
This is a dream place to visit, 156 meters long, 117 wide and 56 meters tall with 426 rooms, 77 staircases, 282 fireplaces, more than 800 sculpted columns and with massive towers at each corner. It's second in size only to the Château of Versailles, making this one of the great national monuments of the country.
The first thing you'll see inside is one of the main architectural highlights, a spectacular double spiral staircase – it's the centerpiece of the château. It forms a double helix with two intertwined flights of steps ascending three floors, without ever meeting.
Cheverny 14:15
Château Cheverny is another top tourist attraction of the Loire, renowned for magnificent interiors and its dog kennels.
In the past the château was a homelike and peaceful abode for many centuries, protected from the world beyond.
Amazingly, the château owners are descendants of the same family who originally built it in the early 17th century.
One hundred dogs live at Cheverny, so be sure to have a look at them. They can be seen all day during your visit.
Azay-le-Rideau 16:12
We’re at the Château of Azay-le-Rideau, which is one of the beautiful châteaux of the Loire Valley. There are half a dozen major castles that you want to be sure to get a look at, and certainly Azay is one of those. The setting is spectacular – the gardens around it are beautiful and there's a moat formed by a small river that surrounds most of the château, so when you visit here you want to be sure not only to see the interior but to walk around, all around the outside.
Chinon 18:29
Driving through the main shopping lane of the historic town of Chinon, in the Loire, France, gives us a quick preview of the lanes in which we'll soon be taking a little walk. It's primarily a pedestrian zone but our tour van has permission to bring us in here and then drop us off – very convenient for us
Blois 22:11
The French city of Blois in the Loire Valley has one of the largest and most interesting of the châteaux of the Loire Valley, built up in a variety of architectural styles over its 700 year period. It was home to many of the kings and queens of France. And there is also a very friendly pedestrian center to the town.
Because so many powerful kings lived here and were associated with the château, it was built up over the centuries in a variety of architectural styles. This one building exhibits the medieval and the Renaissance and then the French classic style later of François Mansart.
Tours 27:17
You’ll find the city of Tours is a very good home base for staying a few days, and from here you can easily explore the Loire Valley, and visit the many illustrious Château that are in the region. Most of the major attractions are within 30 to 40 minutes away from Tours – it's very convenient either by train or by private Tours company.

Loire Valley - France Best Place ???????? Travel & Discover
The architectural heritage in the valley's historic towns is notable, especially its châteaux, such as the Château de Montsoreau, Château d'Amboise, Château d'Azay-le-Rideau, Château de Chambord, Château de Chinon, Château du Rivau, Château d'Ussé, Château de Villandry and Chenonceau. The châteaux, numbering more than three hundred, represent a nation of builders starting with the necessary castle fortifications in the 10th century to the splendour of those built half a millennium later.
