Blue Star Ferry from Athens to Santorini | Greece Ferry trip
The best way to travel between Greek islands is on a ferry. We chose Blue Star ferries which comes in two types, conventional and high speed. Conventional ferries are bit cheaper then high speed ones. We chose conventional for our Athens to Santorini trip and high speed ferry for our trip back. We selected economy seats which are not assigned and spread throughout the ferry's three upper passenger levels. Economy seat cost us €45 per head, business class ticket cost €20 more and private cabin cost €108 per head. We booked private cabin our back trip from Santorini to Athens. We paid total €309.45 for 2 adults and 1 infant.

THIS IS WHAT AN OVERNIGHT GREECE FERRY TRIP IS LIKE (ATHENS TO CRETE)
Our Greece ferry trip was onboard the Hellenic Seaways passenger ferry called Nissos Rodos. It departed from the port in Piraeus and arrived at the port in Heraklion, Crete. The ferry trip was about 9 hours. We got a cabin for the ferry ride so we could sleep and shower while onboard.
In this vlog, we give you a full tour of the ferry. The tour includes a tour of our cabin, boarding the ferry, a walking tour of the dining areas, the outdoor decks, and the luggage storage area.
We recommend getting a cabin for an overnight ferry because you will have a bed and your own bathroom with a shower. We felt that the cabin allowed us to get a good night sleep so that we would be able to be well rested when we arrived in Crete the next morning.
Hellenic Seaways has pet friendly cabins, so Chloe was able to stay in the cabin with us during our trip.

IN THIS EPISODE:
Tim + Fin finally head off to the #basicbitch bucket list destination of Santorini, the picture perfect island in the Greek Cyclades. Tim's un-informed opinion of the island was a place to get instagram pictures taken while wearing linen shirts. In reality, the island held adventure aplenty: cliff diving, volcano trekking, donkey riding, mountain climbing, clear water free diving, scooter driving, and gyro eating. (Maybe gyro eating isn’t adventurous, but Oia was home to the best damn gyro in Europe).
After a final day spent day drinking on Perissa beach in Santorini, the Diemers manage to collect themselves enough after 18 glasses of wine at Santo Wines at sunset to board a ferry bound for Athens.
What is there to do in Athens, Greece? Why, flock to the Acropolis along with every other tourist within a 100 mile radius, of course! While at the Acropolis, the Diemers marvel at both ancient greek architecture and modern Asian Instagram models alike. As could be predicted, the historical significance of the Athens Acropolis is lost on Allison. Her obvious boredom stands as an insult to Zeus, who sends a vengeful pounding rainstorm to exact revenge.
To stay on budget the Diemers set up shop in Perissa where they could enjoy the black sand beaches of Perissa Beach. Beautiful Oia was only a short scooter trip away. A short drive will also get you to the top of Profitis Ilias, where one can stare down on the entirety of Santorini from Oia in the North to the home of Akrotiri light house on the southern tip.
While in Santorini, there is also time to hike to ancient Thira, as well as take a boat tour out to the volcano in the middle of the caldera. The Diemers also give a boat trip to hot springs a go, only to find out the that term “hot” is incredibly subjective.
The best activity the Diemers did in Santorini and possibly one of the most iconic for the island was to swim to an island in Amoudi Bay. Apparently made famous through YaYa sisters Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants or something, Amoudi Bay offers typically overpriced, tourist-focused restaurants. Following a slightly obscured path led the Diemers to an epic 15 foot cliff, crystal clear waters, and a dream location for throwing a drone up in the air.
If you’re still reading the description this far, just gonna drop this last thing: Riding donkeys up the stairs in Fira was the best use of $5 over the duration of the trip for the Diemers. However, they would like to warn you that you’ll likely have to throw away your clothes afterwards as the smell of sweaty donkey doesn’t wash out.

ABOUT US:
We’re traveling full time, living on our own terms and showing you the up-close-and-personal details of us figuring it out along the way. Sometimes it’s about navigating big, life-altering decisions. Sometimes it’s about navigating the seemingly lawless free-for-all that is driving in Hanoi. It’s moments of triumph and moments of panic. The good, the bad, the ugly – and most importantly, the real and real funny.
We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.” Just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem. We believe the world’s a more interesting place when people reject convention in favor of what they actually care about. This is us putting that idea to the test – one budget spreadsheet, RV renovation and mountain-peak drone video at a time.
Athens to Aegina (cheap ferry day trip)
We catch a Greek ferry from Piraeus (the port for Athens) to the nearby island of Aegina. This is an easy day trip, and with plenty of time for lunch and sightseeing. Cost is very reasonable and the ferry is comfortable. Trip was done in the off-season (November 2021)

Ferry from Athens to Santorini travel vlog

After catching two metros (we had to transfer) we arrived at the ferry terminal where we boarded a Blue Star Ferry headed for Santorini. The journey itself was incredible as we passed by many of the most famous Greek Islands along the way to Santorini. We had comfortable places to sit, lounge and sleep and the best views were from the various deck areas of the ferry. We ended up grabbing a hot lunch which was mediocre at best and upon checking into our place in Santorini we went out for a some delicious Greek food that was recommended by our new host.

GREEK FERRIES - PRICES & SEATS | Athens to Mykonos, Hellenic Seaways | Greece Travel Vlog
Today we travel from Athens to Mykonos on a Greek ferry, Hellenic Seaways. Ferries in Greece are common to reach the islands but...⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇
We're leaving Athens and bound for Mykonos, heading over on a Hellenic Seaways ferry to see what the experience on those Greek ferries is all about! We struggled to find any travel vlogs on the ferry process, costs, timings and experience online so decided we'd pick up the camera and create our own vlog as we jumped on the ferry in Athens.
Hellenic Seaways in 2018 was a decent ferry, price was reasonable to purchase the ticket but the food on board was ridiculous, the costs were silly over priced. Paying for seats on the ferry seems like the best option, the other guests were stuck on the outside and mega uncomfortable.
Check back for our next Mykonos video! But for now, our review on the Greek ferry experience was pretty decent - travel was easy and for the most part the trip was painless.

From Athens to Hydra Island by Ferry | A dazzling Day Trip | Greece ????????
Hydra Island Greece, Travel Vlog.
In this vlog we will be visiting a magnificent and picturesque Hydra island.
Less than two hours from Athens, Hydra island is ideal for a day-trip.
I booked my trip to Hydra Island on the website: www. ferryhoper.com
The ticket cost 30-35 euro one way.
The ferry departs from the port Piraeus. The trip duration from the port Piraeus to Hydra Island is about 1 hour 40 minutes.
Hydra is a very romantic place sitting in the middle of the Saronic Gulf, the heart of Hydra beats in the beautiful and cosmopolitan town with the picturesque port.
Late singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen bought house here. He was continuously inspired by the Greek island of Hydra throughout his long career. Some of Cohen's most beautiful songs were born here.
My friend and I truly enjoyed wondering through the labyrinth of narrow streets with the traditional houses and tavernas. This surely will give the visitor an unforgettable experience.
Cars and motor vehicles in general are not allowed. The donkeys and horses are the only choice of transportation if you don't want to walk.
You will find plenty of restaurants, cafes and tavernas.
We had lunch at Kai Kremmidi micro restaurant which serves Greek souvlaki and gyros.
Hydra was a great idea to escape from Athens and spent quality time in a peaceful, quite atmosphere! You can also book a hotel room, stay longer and explore more things in this gorgeous island.
After a few hours in Hydra we are heading back to Athens to attend the changing of guard ceremony in Syntagma Square. And later took flight back to Tel Aviv, Israel.

What a stressful travel day! Definitely kept us on our toes trying to create backup plans upon backup plans just in case the weather affected our overnight ferry! Physically and mentally exhausted by the time we reached Athens! Hope you enjoy watching our travel day :)
