Slovenia's Most Beautiful Wild Animals - Wild Animals Of Europe ????
#slovenia #wildanimals #wildlife #animals
Slovenia's Most Beautiful Wild Animals:
Fox
The fox is widespread in Eurasia, with the exception of India and Indochina, in North Africa and North America. Did you know that the first foxes were imported to Australia around 1850? In Slovenia, it is widespread from the Adriatic coast to the Prekmurje region in the far east of the country. You can meet it in the mountains, near the forest borders.
An adult fox weighs up to 10 kg and despite its short paws, the fox can run for hours and its long jump can be up to 4 meters. The fox is also a fairly good swimmer and climber. On its 500 grams daily menu you can find mostly rodents, but also some rabbits, birds, carrion, fish, frogs, crustaceans, snails, insects, larvae, and fruits. Males are more numerous in the population and foxes’ lifespan is up to twelve years. Its natural enemies are the wolf, the lynx, and the bald eagle.
Alpine ibex
Ibex’s habitat is open rocky areas above the forest border, around 3000 meters altitude. There is no solid evidence to testify to the presence of the native Alpine ibex in Slovenia after the end of the ice ages.
The first ibexes were brought to the Slovenian area by Baron Julius Born between the years 1890–1896. He bought 20 representatives of this wonderful animal in Lausanne for his estate in the Karavanke above Tržič.
According to an estimated count, there are around 300 ibexes living in Slovenia. Did you know that an ibex can jump up to 2 meters high off the spot and up to 4 meters off a run? The lifespan of ibex is up to 17 years. We have almost no natural enemies.
Dormouse
This cute 250-gram animal prefers mixed forests in a karstic underground. Dormouse can be very common in the limestone Alps, the Dinaric Alps mountains and hills, and sub-Mediterranean Slovenia. It often refuges in human dwellings and causes annoying damage in the forest houses.
A dormouse is a nighter and an excellent climber who does not feel very comfortable on the ground. It spends the day sleeping under the ground, in a tree hollow, or a bird nest. It overwinters underground (karst underground, tunnels under the roots of large trees). They start their hibernation with the first frosts and wake up in April. During hibernation, the dormice lose up to 50 percent of their body weight.
Brown bear
A brown bear is the largest European living beast today. The bear is an important European species and is protected by many international conventions. About 50,000 bears live on the Europe territory of which about 1,000 are in Slovenia. The number of bears in Slovenia has been constantly and rapidly growing, especially in the central Slovenia territory including the high karst, and the dense forests with varied and thick vegetation terrain in the Kočevje and Notranjska regions.
A bear needs a wide space to move, has an omnivorous diet, and also tolerates the presence of people which is why it is classified as a vulnerable species. The Slovenian brown bear can grow up to 250 cm in length and a male can reach more than 200 kg in weight. Despite its clumsy appearance, a bear is an excellent runner, swimmer and climber. This giant, who lives up to 35 years, is the most prominent omnivore among Slovenian beasts.
Wolf
The wolf (Canis lupus in Latin) is the largest member of the dog family and an immediate ancestor of the dog. The beginnings of domestication are dating back to the Late Stone Age (Neolithic), about 8000 years ago. According to a theory, people in various parts of the northern hemisphere domesticated local wild dogs – wolves and jackals.
Wolves live in herds with a strictly defined hierarchy. When searching for food, wolves can take up to 70 kilometers journey at a time, and it is known that they can walk a distance of 160 kilometers in one night. The wolf can eat up 10 kilos of food at once, but on the other hand, it can last a long time without it.
Their lifespan is up to 16 years also because of the lack of natural enemies. Although examples of cannibalism are known. Contrary to human belief, they are not dangerous to us. In Slovenia, wolves can be seen in beech and fir forests, which overgrow large mountain areas of the Dinaric karst.
Lynx
Except at the time of mating, a lynx is a loner. This wild cat that can weigh on average up to 25 kilos is a highly specialized predator and hunts from ambush. During hunting, a lynx relies on sight and hearing. In Slovenia, you can find it mostly in the Kočevje region, where they prey on deer, stags, fallow deer, wild boar, chamois, badger, rabbit, wild cat, and domestic animals like dogs, cats, and sheep. 75 percent of its diet consists of deer.

Óbuda, united with Buda and Pest to form Budapest! - Budapest Hungary - ECTV
It is Budapest part of Óbuda in district III. The area of the current part of the city includes only a small part of the former city of Óbuda, which was united with Buda and Pest in 1873 under the name Budapest.
The pre-unification area of Óbuda extended to almost all the districts of today's III. district, except Békásmegyer and Csillaghegy, which formed the municipality of Békásmegyer, and Újlak and Mátyáshegy, which belonged to Buda. The area of the current Óbuda district corresponds only to the inner area of the former city at the end of the 19th century.
Its boundaries: the Danube River to Nagyszombat Street – Nagyszombat Street[2] – Vienna Road – Vörösvári Road – Hévizi Road – Bogdáni Road to the Danube River.
The neighbouring districts are Kaszásdűlő and Aquincum in the north, Óbudai Island on the other side of the Danube branch in the east, and Margaret Island in the south, which forms a separate part of the city. Újlak is located in the south and the hills of Óbuda in the west.
The Romans established Aquincum, the northeastern centre of their province of Lower Pannonia, in today's Transdanubia. The military camp was established in the area of Óbuda, while the related civil town was located north of it, in the area of Aquincum district. The military amphitheater was probably used by Prince Árpád's co-leader, Kursan, after the Hungarian conquest. Contrary to this widely held opinion in the literature, according to Gyula Kristó, the toponym Kursan Castle in the area of medieval Óbuda has nothing to do with the conquering prince, who was called Kusal or Kusanes, but we have to look behind the name for the eponymous ancestor of the Kursan-Kartal clan who owned the area in the Middle Ages.[3]
In 1189 he was hosted in the royal curia of Óbuda by King Alexander III. King Bela defeated Emperor Frederick I (Barbarossa) on a crusade.
The construction of the queen's castle was probably started in the second decade of the 13th century by King Andrew II.[4] In 1290, Andrew III held the National Assembly here, which resulted in the publication of the program in Óbuda.
In 1343 Louis I (the Great) donated the castle of Óbuda to his mother, Elisabeth. Presumably, this step led to the division of Óbuda in 1355, since until then the king had paid the chapter of Óbuda one mark of gold per year. The border district born during the partition of the city is one of the most important sources of the medieval topography of Óbuda.[5] The northern part of the city remained in the possession of the chapter. The southern half, together with the royal castle of Óbuda, became the property of Queen Elisabeth, then the current Hungarian queens. The city seal, known from the second half of the 14th century, probably depicts the eagle of the queen's castle and the House of Piast, which referred to the role of Elisabeth. Due to the increasing importance of nearby Buda, Óbuda could not become a city of national importance in the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 14th century, King Sigismund founded a university in the chapter district.
In 1526, the victorious Ottoman-Turkish army in the Battle of Mohács occupied Buda. The army set up camp near Óbuda, and the city was burned. During the siege of Buda in 1529, the Ottoman-Turkish army again camped near Óbuda, which again plundered the city. It finally fell into Turkish hands in 1541, together with the capture of Buda.
The town was continuously inhabited during the Turkish occupation – with the exception of 1596–1606 and 1684–88, but from then on it was not a town (civitas), but a market town (oppidum) or village (possessio).[6]
The settlement was owned by the Zichy family from 1659 to 1765 (István Zichy Sr. until 1671, István Zichy Jr. until 1700, Péter Zichy until 1726, Zsuzsanna Bercsényi until 1745, Miklós Zichy until 1758, and finally Erzsébet Berényi), after which it again belonged to the chamber.[7]
During the resettlement after the end of Turkish rule, the settlement was enriched with numerous Baroque buildings. It was then that the contemporary settlement structure consisting of narrow, winding streets was formed.
In the flood of 1838, more than half of the houses collapsed, and another 40% were damaged to varying degrees, but there were no fatalities. (The latter may be due to the fact that many residents had boats to go to markets.) During the subsequent reconstruction, terraced houses instead of combs became typical in the central part of the city, and multi-storey houses also appeared.

Visit Kyrgyzstan - Issyk-Kul Lake Travel Guide (south shore) video transcript:
For the next leg of our travels in Kyrgyzstan (
Кыргызстан), we made our way to the Bel Tam Yurt Camp on the south shores of Issyk Kul Lake (Ысык-Көл). We used this as our base for 3 days and from there, we took a few different side trips to some of the most popular sights and attractions in the area. Here’s a taste of what we got up to:
For this half-day trek, we drove from Bokonbayevo (Бөкөнбаев) to the Boz Salkyn Jailoo. Once we arrived at the yurt camp, we met our horses and set off on an incredibly scenic ride.
The second stretch of the trek involved riding uphill through the forest, but once we broke through the tree line, we were treated to amazing views of the surrounding area. The horses got a little break to munch on wildflowers, and we sat down to enjoy a picnic.
We had been hearing a lot about Skazka from fellow travellers staying at our yurt camp, so we were really looking forward to visiting.
The canyon’s name is very fitting as the landscapes really do look straight out of a fairy tale. There are parts where the hills look like they’ve been painted in shades of terracotta, rust, and ochre, and then you also have natural rock formations that rise from the ground. It’s a really nice place for a light hike and a bit of photo taking.
While the water of the sacred springs may be the main draw for pilgrims, for us, this attraction was more about the scenery. Narrow trails wind up, down, and around the hills and it makes for a fun hike through some pretty surreal landscapes. Just don’t forget to bring some water, because the sun can be really strong.
The yurt-building workshop was located in Kyzyl-Tuu Village.
Here we met Tolosun and his family, who all work together to bring the yurts to life. Everything you need for the yurts, from the wooden poles that make up the ceiling to the felt that provides insulation, is made here by different members of his family.
We also learned that this family holds the record for fastest yurt-building time clocking in under 10 minutes. They did it a bit slower for us so that we could understand and help out with the process, but needless to say, they’re pros at this.
Back in town, we made our way to Federation Salburuun, which is a group focused on keeping alive the tradition of eagle hunting that’s been passed down to nomads for centuries.
Eagle hunting happens during the winter months, but during the summer months you can attend demonstrations to learn about this tradition and watch eagles training with furs and hides.
Aside from eagle hunting, the group also practices archery and horseback archery.
We can’t talk about our visit to Issyk Kul’s (Иссык-Куль) South Shore without also mentioning the Bel Tam Yurt Camp.
Not only was staying in a yurt pretty cool, but we loved the friendly staff and the camaraderie amongst travellers at the camp. They had a massive dining tent where everyone gathered for communal dinners.
The highlight was getting to know other travellers and swapping tips and stories about Kyrgyzstan.
This is part of our Travel in Kyrgyzstan video series showcasing Kyrgyz food, Kyrgyz culture and Kyrgyz cuisine.

???? About Video :
Kadikoy ( Turkish : Kadıköy ) , known in classical antiquity and during the Roman and Byzantine eras as Chalcedon , is a large, populous, and cosmopolitan district in the Asian side of Istanbul, Turkey, on the northern shore of the Sea of Marmara. It partially faces the historic city centre of Fatih on the European side of the Bosporus. Kadıköy is also the name of the most prominent neighbourhood of the district, a residential and commercial area that, with its numerous bars, cinemas and bookshops, is the cultural centre of the Anatolian side of Istanbul. Kadıköy became a district in 1928 when it was separated from Üsküdar district. The neighbourhoods of İçerenköy, Bostancı and Suadiye were also separated from the district of Kartal in the same year[citation needed], and eventually joined the newly formed district of Kadıköy. Its neighbouring districts are Üsküdar to the northwest, Ataşehir to the northeast, Maltepe to the southeast, and Kartal beyond Maltepe.
