Jan. 24, 2023 was daddy’s birthday. We decided to visit Strasbourg. From Sasbach to Kehl train Station, it took us only 30 minutes. And from there, we just took tram which is only 20 minutes or less I think. We are very lucky to be situated near the border of France. The distnce between Strasbourg and Sasbach is around 37 km.
Strasbourg is the capital city of the Grand Est region, formerly Alsace, in northeastern France. It's also the formal seat of the European Parliament and sits near the German border, with culture and architecture blending German and French influences. Its Gothic Cathédrale Notre-Dame features daily shows from its astronomical clock and sweeping views of the Rhine River from partway up its 142m spire. ― Google

Baden-Baden is a wealthy spa town at the edge of the Black Forest in Baden Württemberg. The town is located south west Germany, near the border with France - around 1 hour by car from Strasbourg.
Baden-Baden is famous for thermal bath and the Kurhaus complex (built in 1824) with the Spielbank (casino). That is the place where also Dostoevsky gambled during his 5 week stay which makes Baden-Baden a popular destination for Russian tourists.
On this walking tour of Baden-Baden we see the centre of the town, the spa area and some shopping streets. We also visit the main sights like the Spielbank and Trinkhalle and get an impression how Baden Baden looks like outside the main tourist season in fall.

Places to see in ( Strasbourg - France ) Illkirch Graffenstaden
Illkirch-Graffenstaden is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. It is the second-largest suburb of the city of Strasbourg, and is adjacent to it on the south-southwest. Illkirch-Graffenstaden is one of the fastest growing cities in France and probably in Europe, its population having more than doubled in less than forty years (from 11,648 in 1968 to 26,368 in 2006).
In the past Illkirch and Graf(f)enstaden were two separate villages. Illkirch-Graffenstaden therefore differs from more conventional towns, being akin to two long villages, one to the north of the other, giving rise to an exceptionally long main street lined with traditional small half-timbered houses: where these have been supplemented by modern designs, the modern buildings tend to respect the traditional size and look of the older ones.
During periods when Alsace-Lorraine was part of Germany (1871–1918, 1940–1945) the commune was known as Illkirch-Grafenstaden (with a single 'f' in place of the francophone 'ff'): this spelling is still used in German. Among French speakers from outside Alsace the commune is sometimes known colloquially as 'Illkirch' which avoids the needs to grapple with the four syllable German/Alsatian concatenation which some may find challenging.
The larger adjacent communes, like Illkirch-Graffenstaden, are effectively outer suburbs of the Strasbourg conurbation. These include Strasbourg-Meinau, Ostwald and Geispolsheim. Illkirch-Graffenstaden is crossed by the river Ill which here runs from south to north, parallel with and roughly ten kilometres to the west of the river Rhine: the two finally converge a short distance to the north of Strasbourg. The town also lies by the Rhône-Rhine Canal which here runs between the two rivers.
Extensive quarrying has been undertaken in the area for many years, giving rise to a number of small lakes in the region, a couple of which have been adapted for recreational swimming. The International Space University is located on the part of the University of Strasbourg campus lying in the territory of Illkirch-Graffenstaden.
Illkirch is believed to be a Frankish foundation. The town, like Alsace takes the first syllable of its name from the river that crosses it: the second syllable is simply the local word for a church. The spelling of the name has changed as the language has developed: Ellofanum (720), Illechilechen (826), Illenkirche (845), Illekiriche (920), Illachirecha (1163) and Illenkirchen (1172) which mutated into the contemporary name, Illkirch.

Fegersheim is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. Fegersheim is located 12 kilometres (7 mi) to the south of Strasbourg, between the Rivers Andlau, Scheer and Ill. Between 1962 and 1999 the registered population increased from 2153 to 4533, reflecting economic growth in the Strasbourg area.
The discovery of tombs from the third century BC indicates that the site was occupied during the Celtic period. The little town acquired its urban status in the eleventh century. At that time the Benedictine monastery of nearby Eschau owned a substantial property in Fegersheim. In the following centuries until 1789 Fegersheim and its conjoined settlement of Ohnheim would be held as an episcopal fiefdom, successively, by Ochsenstein, Hanau-Lichtenberg and Rathsamhausen.
Fegersheim enjoyed a few days of prominence in 1680 when the court of Louis XIV, accompanied by Bishop Bossuet (tutor to the Dauphin) and the king's mistress stayed here while awaiting the arrival of the Grand Dauphins's new bride. Five days of public celebrations ensued.
For centuries Fegersheim survived on a traditional agrarian economy, but industry appeared in 1933 in the form of the Cajofé toy factory. In 1962 the local council designated one of France's first formal industrial zones here in order to encourage the provision of local employment. The industrial zone benefits from excellent road connections and the proximity of Strasbourg: its story has been one of successful development, already for nearly half a century.
