Sand Pyramids, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The sand pyramids are a rare phenomenon and the masterpiece of nature. Their shape and composition remind of those in Colorado (USA), Dolomites (Italy) and Devil's Town (Serbia). The Sand pyramids are located only nine kilometers from Foča, not far from the main road to Sarajevo, in the village Daničići (Bosnia and Herzegovina). This unique geomorphological phenomenon was created in long series of years. With erosion of the soil and under the influence of aggressive frost compound, summer heat, rain and strong winds, interesting shape figures have been made. Sand pyramids are mentioned for the first time in Austro - Hungarian periods and by some claims they are over 200 years old. The erosion process lasts until today, so they do not disappear but grow up. Striated sand pillars arise from their wide foundations and narrow to the top, and that way make outstanding geomorphological uniqueness on these areas.

Exploring The BEST Things To Do In SARAJEVO!!????????

Today w'ere exploring the best things to do in SARAJEVO, BOSNIA!!

Sarajevo's a city that we guarantee you'll fall in love with. From the Old Town, to the stories of resilience, to the FOOD - this city will leave such a lasting impression on anyone who visits. Come along as we explore the best things to do in Sarajevo!

We started off by grabbing some traditional Bosnian coffee at a really cool place called Ministry of Ćejf. This small little shop in Old Town has a really cool look/feel to it. Although it was a bit different from what we're used to, make sure to try it when visiting Sarajevo!

Next up was a stop in Baščaršija. This is considered the cultural & historical center of the city and dates back to the 15th century. You’ll find all kinds of shops, tea houses, and restaurants. At the center is is Sebilj Fountain, a pseudo-Moorish fountain that’s one of the city’s most recognizable symbols. It attracts people as well as pigeons, which is why it’s often referred to as Pigeon Square.
3. Visit the Latin Bridge/Museum of Sarajevo
After walking through the bazaar we headed over toward the Latin Bridge to the Museum of Sarajevo. This museum has a very notable location as it sits on the corner where Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in 1914. This event is widely considered as the moment that lead tensions toward the beginning of WWI in Europe.

Next up were two museums centered around the Bosnia War in the 90s. The first is the Museum of Crimes against Humanity & Genocide. This museum displays the personal belongings of victims while exploring the darker history of the Bosnian War. The second museum we visited was the Gallery 11/07/95. This museum highlights the Srebrenica genocide. This genocide took place in and around the town of Srebrenica in July of 1995 where over 8,000 Bosniak Muslim men and boys were killed. These are extremely sad & sobering museums and exhibits, but they’re vital to fully understand the strength and resolve of the people in Bosnia.

In the same square as Gallery 11/07/95 is the catholic Neo-gothic church Sacred Heart Cathedral. Completed in 1887, it was damaged in the Siege of Sarajevo, but not completely destroyed. This is the largest cathedral in Bosnia & Herzegovina & is positioned right in the center of Old Town.

Sarajevo's got a huge muslim community & the city is dotted with stunning mosques. Gazi Huzrev-beg Mosque, or Bey’s Mosque, is a 16th century Ottoman mosque in Old Town and is the largest mosque in the country. Although it suffered significant damage during the war, it’s been reconstructed and is seen as the most important architectural monument from the time of Ottoman rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

One other really interesting building close by is Sarajevo City Hall, or Vijećnica. This building dates back to 1896, when Bosnia was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It was built in a pseudo-Moorish style is a tribute to the Muslim heritage here in the city. It’s functioned as a city hall, a Parliament House, and during the communist period, a library. At the time the library contained over 1.2 million books, but only 10-15% of the books were saved from the Siege of Sarajevo.

Bosnia REALLY knows how to cook, & you can't find much better food than at Klopa. We absolutely LOVED this restaurant and highly recommend it!

Vječna Vatra is the eternal flame of Sarajevo, and is such a perfect symbol of the spirit of the people here. It's an excellent reminder that no matter what the people of Sarajevo have gone through, they're an extraordinarily resilient people who remember their history in order to never repeat it.

We can't say enough how much we loved Sarajevo. We hope this helps you in case you ever visit, we know we will again! Thanks so much for watching & see you in a couple of days!

----------------------------------
Herzegovina (Hercegovina / Херцеговина) is the southern region of Bosnia and Herzegovina. While there is no official border distinguishing it from the Bosnian region, it is generally accepted that the borders of the region are Croatia to the southwest, Montenegro to the east, Mount Maglić to the northeast, and Mount Ivan to the north. Measurements of the area range from 11,419 km2 (4,409 sq mi), or around 22% of the total area of the present-day country.
The name Herzegovina means duke's land, referring to the medieval duchy of Stjepan Vukčić Kosača who took the title Herceg of Saint Sava. Herceg is derived from the German title Herzog.
In the modern Bosnian-Herzegovinian state, Herzegovina is divided between two entities, Republic of Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Republic of Srpska's part of Herzegovina, commonly referred to as East Herzegovina or, as of late, Trebinje Region, is administratively divided into municipalities of Trebinje, Bileća, Gacko, Nevesinje, Ljubinje, Berkovići, Istočni Mostar and Foča. Within the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Herzegovina is administratively divided between the cantons of Herzegovina-Neretva, West Herzegovina and includes the Livno and Tomislavgrad municipalities, which is part of the Canton 10.
Mostar is the best known and the unofficial capital. It is also the only city with over 100,000 citizens. There are no other large cities in Herzegovina, though some have illustrious histories. Stolac, for example, is perhaps the oldest city in Herzegovina. There have been settlements dating from the Paleolithic period (Badanj cave). An Illyrian tribe lived in the city of Daorson. There were several Roman settlements alongside the Bregava River and medieval inhabitants left large and beautiful stone grave monuments called stećak in Radimlja. Trebinje, on the Trebišnjica River, is the southernmost city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, near the border with Montenegro. Čapljina and Ljubuški are known for their history and their rivers; the village of Međugorje has religious importance for many Croats and Catholics.

The park was established in 1962, and is the largest and the earliest declared national park in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Its declaration was based more on it being the site of historic battles rather than for conservation.
Perućica forest reserve, located within the national park, was established in 1952, as Natural reserve for scientific and educational purposes.
Perućica, which is one of the last two remaining primeval forests in Europe, is one of the five Strict Nature Reserves in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The park is also famous as being the location of the Battle of the Sutjeska which lasted from 15 May to 16 June 1943 during World War II, where the Partisan were victorious over the German occupying forces in a battle.
In the battle, the Partisans were led by the Supreme Headquarters of Yugoslavia by Marshal Josip Broz Tito who foiled the enemy’s plans.
The Partisans were successful in breaking out of the encirclement
even though they lost one third of their men.
Several large Partisan’s Memorial stone monuments commemorate this event at the northern edge of the park at Tjentište,
on the way to primeval Perucica forest reserve.
The Piva and Drina rivers are largest rivers in the park, and they forming its north-western border.
The Sutjeska River could be considered main river basin largely located within park itself.
The Zelengora mountain hide in its forests and wide and grassy plateaus, 9 glacial lakes, also known as Eyes of the Mountain.
The park's vegetation comprises thick forests, mountain pastures, meadows and rocky ground above the forests.
In particular, the northwestern hill slopes have thick coniferous and beech trees up to an elevation of 1,600 metres,
while in the other directions, the hill slopes are very steep, barren and rocky.
Pastures are found at elevations above 1,600 metres in the plateaus.
Its floral wealth comprises 2,600 species of vascular plants (many of them rare and endemic) and also about 100 species of edible fungi.
The animal population is diverse and considerable.
Bear, chamois, boar, wolf, pine marten and mink marten, wild cat, fox, and wild goats have been sighted in the park, particularly in the Perućica forests.
The park has more than 300 species of birds in the large areas of lakes and wetlands.

TREBINJE, Требиње, STUNNING Drone of a FAIRYTALE TOWN in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Hello and welcome to the most beautiful town : Trebinje, Bosnia and Herzegovina:)

This video is entirely shot with a drone in order to give you an unforgettable chance to see this magical fairy-tale city from a unique perspective.

Trebinje, a hidden gem in the heart of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a fairytale-like city that will take your breath away. With its romantic atmosphere and beautifully preserved buildings, this city is a must-visit destination for any traveler. And what better way to experience it than through drone footage? The video will take you on a journey through the town and its various churches and monasteries, showcasing the stunning architecture and breathtaking views.

But it's not just the architecture that makes Trebinje special. The locals are some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet. They welcome visitors with open arms and are always eager to share their culture and history. And speaking of history, Trebinje has plenty of it. From the ancient Roman city of Taurunum to the Ottoman Empire and beyond, this city has been shaped by centuries of diverse influences.

But Trebinje isn't just a city of the past. It's also surrounded by stunning natural scenery, with the Trebišnjica River flowing right through the heart of the city. The river is a popular spot for swimming, fishing, and kayaking, and there are plenty of hiking trails in the surrounding hills and mountains. The water in the river is the clearest I've seen!

And if that's not enough, Trebinje is just a short distance from Dubrovnik, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region. So if you're looking for a peaceful escape from the crowds, Trebinje is the perfect choice.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country that's often overlooked by travelers, but it's a pleasant surprise for those who do visit. From the stunning natural beauty of its mountains and rivers to the rich cultural heritage of its cities and towns, this country has something for everyone. And Trebinje is the perfect example of that. So come and experience the magic of this hidden gem for yourself.
