Normandy-Highlights: From Étretat-Cliffs to Honfleur city, visit Calvados Experience ║ Best places

Day 4 of 17: Early in the morning we drive from Fecamp to Etretat. There are a lot of beautiful trails along the high cliffs there, and if you are a early bird, then you can avoid the crowds.
We move on. The Calvados Experience - a multimedia show - is well worth seeing and a must if you are interested in Calvados. (Join Père Magloire; Route de Trouville, 14130 Pont-l’Evêque).
We return to Honfleur and discover the old town. A bit overcrowed, but still nice. Here we stay for one night in Hôtel L' Ecrin; very beautiful.

FÉCAMP | Better than Étretat? Palais Bénédictine, beach and white cliffs of Normandie!

We spent a weekend in Fécamp - a small port town in Normandie that is known for its beautiful white cliffs (falaises) and the magnificent Palais Bénédictine that produces the world-famous Bénédictine liquor. We explored this gorgeous XIX-century palace, learned how the liquor is made and its history; we even created some cocktails and did a full round of tasting. Needless to say we couldn't resist climbing high up on the cliffs and getting a little freaked out while up there. We hope you enjoy this getaway to the beautiful Fécamp!

Another late upload video. Its been ages since a created a cinematic video so i tried to create another one. Fecamp is a really nice city, it wasn't crowded when we visit it so I think you can basically have the best of it. We just knew recently that one of the places where we've been was a bunker in World War II, pretty amazing!

Étretat and Fécamp - Highlights of the Alabaster Coast | Northern France Part 8

This part of our Northern France journey takes us further along the Alabaster Coast (Côte d'Albâtre), one of the most beautiful coasts in France.

We walk from Bénouville, a small community in Normandy, through the coastal hinterland to nearby Étretat. Étretat is located in the Seine-Maritime department and is framed by the spectacular cliffs (French: falaises) of the Alabaster Coast. The chalk cliffs of Étretat are beautiful. They are made of white chalk and flint.

We reach the beach of Étretat and are immediately fascinated by the scenery. The extraordinary rock formations rise up to 75 meters out of the sea. At the western end of the beach we see the Falaises d'Aval with the rock needle L'Aiguille, to the east the Falaises d'Amont. First we climb the Falaise d'Aval. The higher we get, the more beautiful the view becomes. Once at the top we enjoy the fantastic view of the cliffs, the beach and the Port d'Amont rock arch on the opposite side.

The Falaises d'Amont are our next destination. We descend back down to the beach and walk across the beach promenade to the other end. There the next sweaty ascent awaits us. But the phenomenal view from the Falaises d'Amont makes up for the effort. Up here we also see the Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Garde, which can be seen from afar. Dedicated to sailors and fishermen, it was rebuilt in neo-Gothic style after being destroyed in World War II.

Again we let the scenery sink in, watch the seagulls and then make our way back along the cliffs towards Bénouville. We are walking here on the GR (Grande Randonnée) 21, one of the most beautiful long-distance hiking trails in France. The view of the cliffs and rock formations is unique. We are particularly fascinated by the Aiguille de Belval, a rock needle almost 70 m high. We wonder how much longer this rock will stand.

From Bénouville we continue to Fécamp. The port city is framed by the highest stone cliffs in Normandy. The Cap Fagnet towers 110 m above the town and the beach. The view of the town, the sea and the cliffs of the Alabaster Coast is mesmerizing again!

On the Cap we see another chapel of the seafarers, namely the Chapelle Notre-Dame de Salut, which dates back to the 13th century. There is also a military radio tower. Up here, as is so often the case in northern France, we come across the remains of the Atlantic Wall from World War II (former radar station).

The best-known product from Fécamp is the herbal liqueur Bénédictine distilled here. The Palais Bénédictine was built in the 1890s in the style of historicism as a production site for the liqueur. The eclectic building combines Gothic and Renaissance style elements. Today the palace is a visitor center and art museum, but also partly serves as a production site for the liqueurs.

We enjoy the evening mood in Fécamp and a beautiful sunset on the beach.
