Why Digne Mezel & Bonnieux Should Be on Your Provence Itinerary | Travel Vlog
From Aix-en-Provence, I took a trip to Digne-les-Bains or simply Digne. I was there in Digne for a summer when I was much younger, and on this occasion I was able to visit the family I stayed with at their summer house in Mezel and explore the region again. I was really fortunate to have that experience growing up and am very thankful that I had the chance to learn French language in Provence and spend time with amazing hosts. From Digne I journeyed on to the Luberon. Near Apt I saw endless lavender fields. And from there, I continued on through the countryside to Bonnieux in the Vaucluse department. Driving up the windy road through the forest, I was stunned when I arrived at our dinner destination. With good food, great company, and excellent wine, we enjoyed the spectacular views of the hill villages, vast plains below, and castles in the distance. This was an unforgettable evening. Hope you enjoyed my excursion through the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Until next time.

The spa town of Evaux les Bains
In this video clip, come and discover the mighty rise of thermalism in Evaux-les-Bains! A traditional activity that characterises the town, thermalism in particular has influenced the development of the town and its architecture in the 19th century.
The square in front of the church of Evaux-les-Bains carries the name and the bust sculpture of Armand Fourot, who largely contributed to the rise of thermalism in the city in the 19th century First, he was mayor of the town, then general counsellor and finally MP of the Creuse region. He was also behind the Paris-Ussel railway line initiative, which served Evaux thanks to the construction of the Tardes Viaduct.
From 1831, the formation of a bathing club or Société des Bains, the construction of a part of the modern-day spa facilities, and then of the Grand Hotel a few years later, brought new economic activity to Evaux.
It was later on in history from 1885, with the inauguration of the railroad and the station, that the spa therapy of Evaux enjoyed its glory days with the arrival of the train and its coaches of travellers in search of treatment!
This mighty rise of thermalism naturally influenced the landscape and the architecture of the town. Multiple hotels were built to accommodate the flood of people taking to the waters: the Grand Hotel de la Fontaine is a perfect example.
From 1850 onwards, some of the spa's faithful following wanted a pied à terre of their own in Evaux. They had villas built in keeping with the aesthetic style of spa architecture, characterised in particular by the use of red and white bricks, sometimes using yellow too, in alternating geometric patterns. Little by little, these large multicoloured houses with large openings of various shapes began to appear in the once medieval town centre. Many feature balconies with wrought iron or cast iron railings in the Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles. Their front doors are protected by elegant awnings and their overhanging roofs supported by wooden brackets give them a charming finish.

The Ultimate Provence Road Trip & The South Of France | VLOG 11 | Driving around the world
We started our ultimate Provence road trip in the cute village of Oppède, France which is a fairy-tale village that's built up into the rocks and was once actually a fortress. It's small but easy to explore in a couple of hours.
Stop number 2 on our Provence Road trip was the village of Roussillon, which interested me because of a unique walk you could do there that had a pretty cool landscape. It's called Le Sentier des Ocres and cheap activity to undertake.
Afterward, grab some delicious ice cream at one of the cute restaurants and cafes in the town.
If you have more time for your Provence road trip, you could also stop off at the villages of Gordes and Bonnieux.
After that it was time to head to the famous Lavender (and sunflower) fields of Provence. As you drive towards Plateau de Valensole (which is the most famous area for lavender fields in Provence), you'll drive across many, so you'll always find a field that's less busy if others are there.
We arrived at around 5ish and it was fairly quiet and the weather was a pleasant temperature.
Just remember not to pick the lavender and obviously don't walk on it, you walk in between it.
We then headed towards Verdon Gorge, which is honestly one of the most beautiful places I've seen- the water is SO blue, and there are some really amazing wild camping spots in this area too.
Plan ahead- i.e don't do what Brad and I did. They don't take card...which is surprising, but is what it is, so have cash on you and get there early (before 10am) or you'll be waiting up to 2-3 hours for a pedal boat....sighh...lol
It's possible to swim in the gorge too, so it's a great place to relax and have a picnic too!
After our Provence road trip, we headed to the south of France, starting with Saint Tropez, then making our way to Cannes (and the Cannes film festival was on-- but we arrived too late to see Matt Damon! lol)
We then drove along the coast to Nice and finished our day in Monaco, which was pretty cool!
The South of France is one of the most beautiful road trip drives we've done so far, but expect traffic!
After Monaco, we headed in Italy to start our Dolomities adventure!
Hope you enjoyed this video...
Stick around for the bloopers…

Clue de Barles, Road D900A, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, France - by motorcycle
North of Digne-Les-Bains, the valley of the river Bléone, later the river La Bés, leads north for about 24 km to the village of Barles. Until then, the road changes the sides of the valley several times. On the way to Barles, among other things, two narrow passages are passed. First the Clue de Perouré and then the Clue de Barles. At the first bottleneck there is also a small tunnel. The road is easy and good to ride. Every now and then you have to watch out for bicyclists passing through this gorge. In 2020, the road was closed to all traffic for weeks because of a massive landslide. The area belongs to the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department and here in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region. Thereby Digne-Les-Bains is the capital of the department.

• le séisme du 19 mai 1866, d’une intensité ressentie à Thoard de VI, et dont l’épicentre était situé à La Motte-du-Caire ;
• selon Charles Rostaing et le couplé Fénié, il dérive de la racine : Tou-, désignant une pente, un ravin, un creux dans le paysage ; le suffixe germanique –art, s’est ajouté plus récemment ;
• selon Ernest Nègre, le nom de la commune vient du nom propre germanique Teuthardus ;
