Join us on a tour with our donkeys, explore Šmrika, this nice oasis of calm, close to beaches, entertainment, nightlife, yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding tourist centers like Crikvenica, Rijeka, and the island of Krk. Šmrika is a great starting point whether you want to enjoy a day at the beach, make excursions to the surrounding national parks, boat excursions to the beautiful islands of the Kvarner Bay, or sports activities of all kinds. Countless activities you can explore in the Kvarner Bay can be reached within 5 - 30 minutes while you stay in a quiet pretty place where you can experience the authentic life in Croatia's smaller places with the locals.

Šmrika is about 20 km from Rijeka and near the bridge to the well-known island of Krk.
==Wonderful areas in pure nature==
You can enjoy long walks, the fresh air as you soak up the blue of the sky and sea as well as the greenery of the pines and trees.
Šmrika's most beautiful place is called Vrtača. It is a small piece of heaven on earth, a green oasis in an otherwise stony and rugged environment.
From the highest elevation at 308 m Mižolovo we'll show you an even more special view all around us. Here you can see the whole Kvarner bay and all the way to the Velebit, the largest mountain range in Croatia.
In Šmrika you can also explore a little cave. The Škabac cave is the home of some bats. You will see Križišće and the Vinodol the wine valley in our region – a wonderful green and picturesque area for walks on very nice walking and biking trails

When coming to Šmrika you can do lots of outdoor activities
- you can visit our donkey farm and go for a walk or hike in the surroundings
- you can enjoy a speed race on an open-air kart track and test your driving skills and limits
- you can book a paragliding tandem flight with a licensed instructor from Šmrika

In Šmrika you can find an accommodation option for everyone. Whether you want to book a private room, an apartment with or without a pool, or an entire holiday home with a pool, everything your heart desires is there. And a private accommodation is the best way to have contact with the locals and feel at home and not like a guest.
==Eat&Drink in Šmrika
Although Šmrika is very close to tourist centers you might want to spend an evening in peace and away from the hustle and bustle. And we promise you won't regret it. In Šmrika there are two restaurants and a bistro with a huge variety of meals, fast food with burgers, grilled specialties, and pizza, and delivery service and even three cafes.
Šmrika is a very safe and solid place for your vacation. Here you will find everything you need for a relaxing time. Šmrika has all the elementary things you need: There are 2 markets, a post office, a hairdresser and an ATM.
==Šmrika and the seaside==
When you looked at the map you surely asked yourself, ok I see that this interesting place is not directly situated at the seaside, but it looks like the panoramic views seem to make it more than up. But how far is the distance to the sea and the nearest beach:
The nearest beaches are Kraljevica-Oštro, Uvala Scott, and Uvala Črišnjeva, all 5 minutes away by car.
There are wonderful beaches in Crikvenica, Jadranovo, and Dramalj. All of these places are only 10-15 minutes away by car.
You can reach Krk island in only five minutes and there you can explore a new place every day
You can explore a different nearby beach every day and experience and so much more than if you had booked a place directly at the beach and stay there for the whole time.
==Šmrika and traffic==
If you're traveling to Croatia from another country in the European Union simply drive here. Croatia and Šmrika with their excellent position in the Kvarner Bay are for example within a 3–8 hour drive from so many big European cities like Munich, Vienna, Budapest, Venice, Ljubljana, Milan.
The roads in Croatia are excellent and it is easy to drive in Croatia, even if you're arriving by bus, plane, or train and rent a car while staying in Croatia.
And Šmrika again has a great advantage for all you who are traveling to Croatia! It takes you not more than 15 minutes to Šmrika from the Rijeka airport which is located on the island of Krk. You only need 20 minutes to Šmrika when arriving in Rijeka by bus or train. No matter which mode of transport you come with, Šmrika is not far away! Great, right?
