What is Szentendre and what happens there?
Szentendre is a scenic town on the Danube's bank, about 40-minutes from Budapest, best known for its Mediterranean vibes, Baroque architecture, history of Serbian residents, Hungarian folklore stores, and extensive art scene, both old and modern. True, you can find all of those in Budapest, so Szentendre isn't a must-visit destination for short-term visitors. But if you enjoy a break from big-city life, you can spend an adventure-filled half a day here with some advance planning. Szentendre's food scene has a long way to go, but I’ve included below a few cafés and restaurants that won’t disappoint.
The visit to Szentendre is done during the day, the city is not very big, you can leave quietly at the end of the morning and return at the end of the afternoon, the frequency of the trains is reasonable, you just need to be informed schedules in advance so as not to be caught off guard.
Szentendre (or Saint-André) is a small town easily accessible by train or boat, which explains the fact that there are many tourists. The city is famous for its museums and art galleries. In the past, there was a very strong Serbian community in the area, and today, there are several churches of different denominations. In Szentendre, a Mediterranean air floats with its mainly Baroque architecture and narrow, cobbled streets.
Szentendre station is 5 minutes walk from the beginning of the historic center, it is really very convenient. At the exit of the station, I discover this nice sculpture of a globe-trotting robot. I arrive immediately in the large main artery, with its small craft shops.
The city is on the edge of an arm of the Danube, it is also served by boats. Stroll along the river, various urban facilities have been arranged and friendly little restaurants await you.
During your walk in Szentendre, try to pass through Kossuth Lajos Utca, Kucsera Ferenc Utca, Fő tér and around the Danube. You should thus come across art galleries, lace shops, souvenir shops, restaurants as well as the Chiprovachka and Blagovestenska churches on your way. As for museums, it all depends on your preferences and interests. The Ferenczy Museum hosts paintings and sculptures by local artists.

A vasút átvészelt két világháborút, jelentős szerepet töltött be a nyomvonala mellett élők életében, a gazdaságban, a szőlő és gyümölcsök bejutásában a ceglédi piacra.
Cegléd - Hantháza last trip of a small train 28.02.1978.
Ferenc Kossuth, Minister of Commerce and Railways, issued the railway licence on 1 April 1909. Construction started soon after. On 3 May a joint-stock company was formed to build and operate the local railway. Five months later, the inauguration took place on 25 October and on 26 October, the new railway line was officially opened to traffic!
The railway had survived two world wars and played an important role in the lives of the people living along its route, in the economy and in bringing grapes and fruit to the market in Cegléd. It served for sixty-nine years and although there were plans to extend it, unfortunately it never materialised. Sadly it was closed down and the rails were pulled up. Some people still have personal memories of it, and for younger people, apart from a few familiar photos, we can only show this short film of the last run.

Budapest is the capital and most populous city of Hungary and one of the largest cities in the European Union. With an estimated 2016 population of 1,759,407 distributed over a land area of about 525 square kilometres (203 square miles), Budapest is also one of the most densely populated major cities in the EU. Budapest is both a city and county, and forms the centre of the Budapest metropolitan area, which has an area of 7,626 square kilometres (2,944 square miles) and a population of 3,303,786, comprising 33 percent of the population of Hungary. The Budapest metropolitan area had a GDP of $141.0 billion (€129.4 billion) in 2016, accounting for 49.6 percent of the GDP of Hungary. GDP per capita in the city is $64,283, which means 148% of the EU average measured on purchasing power parity. Thereby the city is among the top 100 GDP performing cities in the world and making it one of the largest regional economies in the European Union.
The history of Budapest began with Aquincum, originally a Celtic settlement that became the Roman capital of Lower Pannonia. Hungarians arrived in the territory in the 9th century. Their first settlement was pillaged by the Mongols in 1241. The re-established town became one of the centres of Renaissance humanist culture by the 15th century. Following the Battle of Mohács and nearly 150 years of Ottoman rule, the region entered a new age of prosperity, and Budapest became a global city with the unification of Buda and Óbuda on the west bank with Pest on the east bank on November 17, 1873. Budapest also became the co-capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, a great power that dissolved in 1918, following World War I. The city was the focal point of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848, the Battle of Budapest in 1945, and the Hungarian Revolution of 1956.
Budapest is cited as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, ranked as the world's second best city by Condé Nast Traveler, and Europe's 7th most idyllic place to live by Forbes. Among Budapest's important museums and cultural institutions, the most visited art museum is the Museum of Fine Arts, which is noted for one of the largest collections of all periods of European art and comprises more than 100,000 pieces. Further famous museums and galleries are the Hungarian National Museum, House of Terror, Franz Liszt Academy of Music, Hungarian State Opera House and National Széchényi Library. The central area of the city along the Danube River is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has many notable monuments, including the Hungarian Parliament, Buda Castle, Fisherman's Bastion, Gresham Palace, Széchenyi Chain Bridge, Matthias Church and the Liberty Statue. Another famous landmarks include Andrássy Avenue, St. Stephen's Basilica, Heroes' Square, the Great Market Hall, the Nyugati Railway Station built by the Eiffel Company of Paris in 1877 and the second-oldest metro line in the world, the Millennium Underground Railway. The city also has around 80 geothermal springs, the largest thermal water cave system, second largest synagogue, and third largest Parliament building in the world. Budapest attracts 4.4 million international tourists per year, making it the 25th most popular city in the world and the 6th in Europe.

Best summer pool city center | Thermal bath | Must try in Budapest, Hungary
Best summer pool you must try when in Budapest city center. Swimming pools, water rides, water massages, and spas.
Subscribe to my channel for more updates:
Hungary is enormously popular for its wide taste of thermal baths all over the country. Hungarians love using thermal baths all through the years and are even demanding during the cold winter.
Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, houses several well-known and huge thermal baths. these thermal baths include everything that a person may need to make it the most relaxing. if you are planning to visit Hungary, make it on your to-do list to visit at least one of them.
This video includes a day tour in Palatinius strand, a hugely popular thermal bath/ pool among the locals. Palatinius strand is located in the middle of Margaret island, which itself is a majestic touristic spot for the city. Right in the centre of the island is a thermal furdo which can relax all the summer heat of the season.
The Palatinius strand includes 10 different pools including a wave pool, water slides, sunbath pool, thermal pool (hot and cold), saunas, children pool. The pools have water jets and cold showers which people can use to as water massages however they need.
Needless to say, there are lifeguards at every corner of the pool to take care of the safety of the public. The guards were extremely concerned about abiding by the pool rules, hence please do not attempt anything that is against the mentioned/ displayed rules.
There are plenty of options for children as well, and therefore this place is welcome to everyone. The cloakroom and the shower area were massive, clean and very hygienic to use. No complaints on that.
Some tips while visiting a thermal bath in Hungary
1. Get your own slippers and towel to avoid renting in the thermal baths. In case you can't manage it, then you do have options to rent it there in the. office.
2. Get a swimming cap if you plan to use the swimming pool. However, in Palatinius, you can use the swimming area without any cap.
3. If you want to avoid crown, visit the pool on the weekdays. It is less crowded and also cheaper.
4. For summer, Palatinius will be the best options for its extreme collection of outdoor pools and water activities.
Hope you have enjoyed the video and let me know what more you are interested to see in Budapest, Hungary.

Nyugati Railway Station or Nyugati pályaudvar or just Nyugati - Budapest Hungary - ECTV
Budapest-Nyugati (western) railway station (Hungarian: Nyugati pályaudvar), generally referred to simply as Nyugati, is one of the three main railway terminals in Budapest, Hungary. The station is on the Pest side of Budapest, accessible by the 4 and 6 tramline and the M3 metro line.
The station was planned by August de Serres and was built by the Eiffel Company. It was opened on 28 October 1877. It replaced a previous station, which was the terminus of Hungary's first railway line, the Pest–Vác line (constructed in 1846). This building was pulled down in order to construct the Grand Boulevard.
The station gave its name to the adjacent Western Square ('Nyugati tér'), a major intersection where Teréz körút (Theresia Boulevard), Szent István körút (Saint Stephen Boulevard), Váci út (Váci Avenue), and Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út (Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Avenue) converge. The square also serves as a transport hub with several bus routes, tram routes 4 and 6, and a station on M3 of the Budapest Metro.
Since 2007 Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) has operated regular services between the terminal and Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport Terminal 1,[1] although Terminal 1 has been closed since 2012 and all departures and arrivals have been consolidated in Terminal 2A and 2B, which is 4 kilometers away.[2]
Beside the terminal and partially above its open area there is the WestEnd City Center shopping mall. Inside the station is a McDonald's restaurant which has been described as the most elegant McDonald's in the world.[3][4]
The music video for Gwen Stefani's 2008 single Early Winter was partly shot at Nyugati.[5] Starting in May 2016 the key scenes of the movie Terminal were shot over 27 nights.[6]
Train services
The station provides access to the following services:
Intercity services Budapest - Szolnok - Debrecen - Záhony - Mukachevo
Intercity services Budapest - Cegléd - Kecskemét - Szeged
