Last week we drove our new tiny home on wheels north to begin putting our off-grid capabilities to the test. So, naturally ????, we decided that for our second trip in the van we ought to put the capacity limits to the test too. While our 170 sprinter van has seemed like plenty of room (almost too much room!) for the two of us, this week will prove just how comfy the new layout is when we add a 3rd human and a medium-sized dog!!! We all travel towards Tobermory and Manitoulin Island (living, traveling, sleeping, cooking & POOPING ???? in 1 van). Could you live in such tight quarters with two other people and a dog?!

After a long 4 months of this VAN LIFE BUILD project we finally have enough electricity, water and other essentials in place to put our new tiny home on wheels to the off-grid test. We head 4 hours north of Toronto to explore some of Canada's most stunning wilderness with one of our very best friend's Lee and her dog Occy! The adventure begins with a hike along the Bruce Peninsula at Lion's Head where we get lost and nearly don't make it back to camp! Luckily the @Vanwives were there to save the day ???? . The crew then heads towards Manitoulin Island where we learn the hard lesson that things aren't as free and open as they were before COVID. Readjusting to tiny living isn't so bad when you're in such great company! All this and more in this week's van life vlog!

Today's van life vlog begins with a new little four-legged friend in the bed of our self converted Sprinter Van! As many of you know, Eamon & I LOVE DOGS and ANIMALS and have always wanted to do our part to help stop the millions of puppies who are euthanized each year. When we met Olivia from Bark for Baja we knew we wanted to be a part of the solution so we've decided to take in Rojo as a foster puppy until we can bring him to his forever home in Toronto, Canada. You can expect to see a lot more of this van life puppy in the coming weeks :)

We have loved living in a van (self converted sprinter van) for the last year and a half and while we enjoy spending time in Canada it can get a little cold throughout the winter. So, we've decided to hit the road and drive across the continent to enjoy some warmer weather in Baja Mexico. If our last trip to this country taught us anything... it's to expect the unexpected!!

When the pandemic hit in 2020 we made the difficult decision to abandon our van in Africa and fly home to Canada. We ended up living at a cabin in the Canadian wilderness! But now that restrictions have eased we've made the trip back to Morocco to resume van life in Africa!! It's going to take some time to readjust to tiny living but we are SO excited to be back to van life!

Van design tips to accommodate traveling with dogs. Our van was built with 2 dogs living with us in mind, a Golden Retriever & a Samoyed. We designed the van to make it easy for us to keep the van clean after taking them out for some outdoor fun, their storage and how to keep them traveling with us as comfortably & safely as possible.

In 2017 we bought our first sprinter van and spent 30 days renovating it into our dream tiny home. The plan was to van life around the world and we'd made it all the way from Canada to Africa. Fast forward to COVID...us abandoning our van in a Moroccan parking lot, flying home to Canada, converting yet another van, and then moving to our cabin in the woods.

OVERLANDING AFRICA IN OUR SPRINTER VAN | Our road trip through Morocco continues after our amazing experience with van life in Dakhla! On our last day in the area we head out in a 4X4 and explore the secret spot & white dune. We then quickly drive our van to Marrakesh where Lee flies in from Canada to meet us. Though we've been in Morocco for over a month now we still manage to get scammed in the night market of Marrakesh and of course we catch it all on film!!

1. Dakhla, a Kite Boarders Paradise & rated one of the top spots to kite board in the world!
2. White Dune (just a 20 minute drive from Dakhla but requires a 4x4)
3. Tan Tan (possible to drive from Dakhla in one long drive day)
4. Marrakesh Accommodation
5. Marrakesh Night Market in Djemaa el Fna
FYI We took the ferry from Algeciras to Tangier Med and it cost each campervan 180 euros and took about 1.5 hours. Tangier Med is a relatively new port and is very well maintained which led to a seamless border crossing. To all those making the journey, GOOD LUCK and remember not to bring your drone!

In 2017 we bought our first sprinter van and spent 30 days renovating it into our dream tiny home. The plan was to van life around the world and we'd made it all the way from Canada to Africa. Fast forward to COVID...us abandoning our van in a Moroccan parking lot, flying home to Canada, converting yet another van, and then moving to our cabin in the woods.
We've always envisioned moving into the woods by the lake and building our dream tiny cabin as a home base for us to come back to in between our international van life travels. With our sights set on returning to Morocco (after this hard year of cancer treatment), we thought it was time we dust off our van life skills. So, we squeeze 4 people into our sprinter van conversion for 48 hours!
