Visiting Sopheakmit (Preah Nimith) Waterfalls in Stung Treng, Cambodia
We visited the Sopheakmit (or Preah Nimith) Waterfalls located in the border of Stung Treng and Preah Vihear provinces. Along the river where the waterfalls are located is also bordering Laos.
We traveled from Phnom Penh to Stung Treng on a sleeper bus for 8 hours. Arriving as early as 4:30 am in Sting Treng, we proceeded to the waterfalls with a tuktuk that we contacted days ago. On the way to the waterfalls has a distance of around 65 kilometers and we traveled with our tuktuk for around two hours. Before lunch, we traveled back to Stung Treng City for another adventure.

Stung Treng, Cambodia Border Town near Laos
Stung Treng is located just 50 kilometers/37 miles south of Laos, on the banks of the San River, close to the Mekong. It is a quiet, provincial city, but was once a part of the vast Khmer Empire. Now a large business center for men from Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam, little boats were constantly on the move ferrying passengers across the river.
We overnight at Golden River Hotel, a two-star. Told it is the best available, a pleasant surprise shown to a large room overlooking the river with the heaviest furniture I've ever seen. Each piece is made from a single piece of lumber and impossible to move. This hotel doesn't have a restaurant and meals are eaten in popular restaurants.
If there had to be one elimination in our Cambodia itinerary, Stung Treng would have been it with nothing of value for tourists. As a matter of fact, guide Heng said we were the first tourists that probably ever stayed overnight. Guides are usually sent to meet clients crossing from Laos and then drive through Stung Treng to Phnom Penh. What can I say. Please don't forget to Share, Like and Subscribe! Thanks.

It is located in Stung Treng province of Cambodia and about 5 km from the town.
It is a long the Mekong river where visitor can take time to relax and eat or even stay nights with wooden bungalows and enjoy the Mekong scenery!

After an amazing month in Cambodia it was time to head to Laos as our visa had expired :-( We travelled from Kratie to Laos via the Stung Treng land border, and discovered first hand the corruption and scams at the border. After having additional “charges” added to our crossing, our passports withheld and missing our bus we finally did make it into Laos, and to our destination of 4,000 islands (Si Phan Don).

Road to Sopheak Mith Waterfall.
As a new Mekong bridge was finished and opened to travel across, going to Sopheak Mith waterfall is no more difficult.
Sopheak Mith waterfall (that how the local people have called) is about 40 km far from the town of Stung Treng, Cambodia. Travel along the National road 9 to Preak Vihea about 10 Km you will see a dirt road on the right (from Stung Treng) and on the left (from Preah Vihea). You can see how good is the road on the video.

Recently, in Stung Treng province a new hotel was opened to serve customer. It is the highest hotel in the town built in a great place that allowing us seeing a great view of four face rivers joint together Mekong, Sekong, Sesan and Sre Pork rivers. It is a nice and fresh air at the top...It is ready to welcome River festival in March 2017 coming..
