Martinique is definitely worth it, especially because flying to this island is not very expensive from Paris, LA, London or Amsterdam. What is there to do? From Martinique we visit many more hidden gems in the Caribbean, but now you can already see some of the highlights. We sleep in Saint Pierre, visit the top of Mont Pelée, stand under the waterfall Saut Gendarme, snorkel in Anse Dufour and Anne Noire and stroll over the most beautiful beaches called Plage du Diamant and Plage des Salines. Also, the video shows many different accommodations in very different areas on the island.
This year we travel all over the world and after the Canary Islands, Oman and Cape Verde, Martinique is our fourth destination. Heute sind wir noch immer in Frankreich, in dem Überseedepartment Guadeloupe. Mit einem Taxi fahren wir nach Sainte Anne auf der Insel Grande Terre und erleben einen wunderschönen Badetag an einem herrlichen Sandstrand.

Karibik Highlights -Trauminseln unter dem Wind
Vor der Küste des amerikanischen Kontinents reihen sich dutzende Inseln zwischen Atlantik und dem Karibischen Meer. Ihre Strände, Städte und Menschen machen Träume wahr, ihre Musik gibt den Rhythmus vor.
Die Film-Reise startet auf Kuba mit seiner Hauptstadt Havanna. Weitere Stationen sind Valle de Vinales, Trinidad und Santiago de Cuba. Die Dominikanische Republik ist mit Santo Domingo und Puerto Plata dabei. Der Raggae swingt über die Discovery Bay und Ocho Rios auf Jamaica. Palmen wiegen sich auch auf Trinidad und Tobago.
Die Kleinen Antillen glänzen mit Barbados, Granada, den Grenadinen, Saint Lucia, Martinique, Antigua und St. Kitts.

Innerhalb einer Woche legt die Magica wiederum in Pointe-a-Pitre an. Diesmal werden wir einen Ausflug auf die Insel Basse Terre machen. Ein Wasserfall, eine Rumdestillerie und viele herrliche tropische Blumen und Pflanzen erwarten uns. Kommen Sie einfach mit.

Tag 17: Martinique: Fort-de-France & Saint-Pierre - Mit AIDAdiva von New York bis Jamaika
Die nächte Insel auf unserer Tour ist Martinique. Der Tag ist zwar verregnet, aber die Pflanzenwelt der Insel überwältigend.
In November 2018 waren wir auf der Kreuzfahrt Von New York nach Jamaika 5 mit der AIDAdiva. Ganze drei Wochen sind wir von der Ostküste der USA bis in die Karibik gefahren, quasi vom Winter in den Sommer. ;-)
Martinique empfängt uns grau und regnerisch und das Wetter bleibt den ganzen Tag sehr wechselhaft. Kurze Regenschauer wechseln sich immer wieder mit Sonnenstrahlen ab. Wir fahren von Fort-de-France mit dem Bus zu einem Aussichtspunkt bei der Balata Cathedral (Sacré-Coeur de Balata) - einer Kirche, die der Sacré-Coeur in Paris nachempfunden ist. Von dort hat man einen wunderbaren Blick über Fort-de-France und bis zur AIDAdiva zurück. Von dort geht es weiter über die Schlangenstraße durch den Regenwald. Die Pflanzenwelt von Martinique ist üppig und überwältigend. Es hat den Anschein, als würde die Erde nicht ausreichen für die Pflanzen und so wachsen viele Pflanzen in- und aufeinander. Der nächste Stop unserer Tour ist in Saint-Pierre. Eine kleine Stadt, die früher kleines Paris der Karibik genannt wurde, bevor die Stadt von einem Vulkanausbruch 1902 fast vollständig zerstört wurde. Ca. 30.000 Menschen haben bei dieser Katastrophe ihr Leben lassen müssen und so ist dieses Unglück noch heute eine tiefe Narbe in der Geschichte von Martinique. Ein paar Ruinen in Saint-Pierre, beispielsweise das Theater oder das Gefängnis (in dem ein Mann aufgrund der dicken Mauern das Unglück überlebte) sind heute noch Zeugen des Ausbruchs des Mont Pelée.
Von Saint-Pierre geht es die Küstenstraße entlang zurück nach Fort-de-France. Dort laufen wir zu Fuß noch ein klein wenig in die Stadt bevor es zurück aufs Schiff geht.
Abends findet auf dem Pooldeck eine Silent-White-Party statt. Wer will, bekommt Kopfhörer und kann auf diesen einen von drei Kanälen wählen. Jeder dieser Kanäle wird von einem anderen DJ bespielt und so kommt es zu witzigen Szenen auf der Tanzfläche, während die DJs um Zuhörer battlen. Großer Spaßfaktor.
Bei dieser Kreuzfahrt handelt es sich um eine sogenannte Transroute. Die ersten 14 Tage entsprechen der Tour Von New York in die Dom. Rep. 3 und die dritte Woche ist der erste Teil der Tour Karibik & Mittelamerika 1.
Und natürlich haben wir ganz viele Videos mitgebracht um dir die Tour ein wenig näher und ganz viel Karibik-Feeling rüber zu bringen.

In der Sprache der Ureinwohner wurde die Insel Madinina (Blumeninsel) genannt, diese Bezeichnung wird auch heute noch oft von den Einheimischen verwendet.
Martinique ist ein vollintegrierter Teil des französischen Staates und damit auch Teil der Europäischen Union
Martinique (French pronunciation: [maʁtinik]) is an insular region of France located in the Lesser Antilles in the eastern Caribbean Sea, with a land area of 1,128 square kilometres (436 sq mi) and a population of 385,551 inhabitants as of January 2013. Like Guadeloupe, it is an overseas region of France, consisting of a single overseas department. One of the Windward Islands, it is directly north of Saint Lucia, southeast of Puerto Rico, northwest of Barbados, and south of Dominica.
As with the other overseas departments, Martinique is one of the eighteen regions of France (being an overseas region) and an integral part of the République française (French Republic). As part of France, Martinique is part of the European Union, and its currency is the euro. The official language is French, and virtually the entire population also speaks Antillean Creole (Créole Martiniquais).
