Zanzibar Island tourism, Tanzania (HD 1080p)

Zanzibar Island tourism, Tanzania - Trip to Zanzibar Island, Tanzania - Zanzibar Island vacations
Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide
Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous archipelago off the coast of Tanzania consisting of Zanzibar Island (locally, Unguja), Pemba Island and many smaller islands. Zanzibar island itself is approximately 90km long and 30km wide.

See in Zanzibar, Tanzania
===================
There is a lot to see and to do on Zanzibar island. First and foremost, do enjoy the amazing white sand beaches especially at the north, east and south coast. The sand has the consistency of castor sugar! The best beaches are Nungwi/Kendwa, Matemwe/Kiwengwa and Paje/Jambiani, each offering different appeal.

Zanzibar Island, a.k.a., The Spice Island, was an important stop in the Spice Trade centuries ago. Today, it is one of the few places in the world where saffron is produced, and many other Middle Eastern/Asian spices (cardamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, etc.) are grown here. Visit one of the spice farms where you can see how anise, pepper, cloves etc. grow; you can sample some of the exotic fruit grown on the island. And do check out the lipstick tree.

There are a number of historically important (and frankly, just plain beautiful) buildings in Stone Town, like The House of Wonders and The Arab Fort. It is easy to arrange a simple walking tour with a local guide who can teach you some history. The market in Stone Town is one of the largest, most vibrant open-air markets anywhere. Here, you can find several varieties of bananas, elephant garlic unique to the island, the largest avocados you'll probably ever see, and more. Prices are extremely reasonable. Even if you have no intentions of purchasing food, the spectacle alone is worth a visit. If seeing raw meat and fish covered in flies makes you squeamish, avoid that part of the market. Overall, pretty much all food that is not packaged in plastic is covered in flies.

Seaweed Center (Seaweed industry development project), (Paje, East Coast, Zanzibar), ☎ +255 772 37-18-44, 3% of the world's commercial harvest of Seaweed is taking place in Zanzibar island. The industry has ~15,000 women seaweed farmers. The Seaweed Center is a socially responsible business that provides female seaweed farmers in Paje, Zanzibar with opportunities to improve their personal standards of living and develop economic activities that benefit the entire community. The project comprises a factory and gathering site to produce soaps and creams from seaweed that are sold locally and begin to be distributed throughout East Africa. Tours are available, showing the life of seaweed women, the work and the value added activities.ck tree. *Zanzibar also has quite a lot of caves, e.g. Tazani near Nungwi or Kuumbi Caves in Jambiani. A tour company in Jambiani called Mambo Poa Tours ( offers excursions off the beaten track, for example to an abandoned eco resort in the South of Zanzibar. Also do a village tour that are offered all over the island. The villagers don't see tourists as intruders, to the contrary, they welcome foreigners. *Please do make sure that you are dressed with a t-shirt and knee-length pants - Zanzibarians are 98 % Muslims and walking through villages in beach gear is disrespectful. *A Zanzibar resident put together quite a lot of information on Zanzibar Insider Buzz, you can google it. There are also useful facebook pages, such as Karibu Zanzibar, Backpacking in Zanzibar, plus any facebook page from one of the many tour operators. *Jozani Forest has excellent nature trails, featuring some very exotic (and large) trees and plants. Even more interesting, though, are the Red Colobus Monkeys that live here. These Monkeys can only survive on Zanzibar, nowhere else in the world, since they need a diet of 70 different plants, berries etc. The Red Colobus Monkeys are a protected species. A major part of the entrance fees goes to the local farmers in the surrounding area. In the past, the farmers killed the Monkeys because they destroyed their crops. Ever since they are compensated for their losses, the killing stopped. They are very curious and playful and will likely pose for a picture. The entry fee (USD10) also include an optional visit to a beautiful mangrove forest which is highly recommended.

Stone Town
========
The inner city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, is a most unique city. Blending Moorish, Middle Eastern, Indian, and African traditions and architectures, it is possible to spend days winding through Stone Town's labyrinthine alleys. That said, a day will give you plenty of insight. The inner city is small and can easily be explored by foot. It is estimated that 85% of the historic building fabric (coral stone) of Stone Town is irredeemably lost.

Top Five Things to do in Zanzibar | Sid the Wanderer

Exploring the Top five Things to do in Zanzibar Island in just one day! Follow me as I take you through this journey through the gorgeous island of Zanzibar.

Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous island of Tanzania off Dar-es-Salaam. It is easy reachable by boats ($ 80 return travel) and by aircrafts (20 minutes flight time). It is important to carry your passport as you enter the island, otherwise things can turn difficult like they did for me :)

The beautiful island has lots to offer to everyone - fantastic street food, amazing street life, gorgeous beaches and Great Bazaars to explore the local way of living. There was a time when Zanzibar was believed to be an extremely expensive holiday destination, but not anymore. It can be done on a backpacker's budget as well and I can say that with my personal experience :)

Here are my Top Five things to do in Zanzibar, even if you have just one day to spend there!

Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania 2016 (HD 1080p)

Mount Kilimanjaro's location in Tanzania - Foothills of Kilimanjaro - Meet Maasai villagers living in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro
Sponsors (( & ))
Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide
Mount Kilimanjaro is a currently inactive strato-volcano in northern Tanzania, near the border with Kenya. At 5,895 metres (19,340 feet) above sea level, Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest peak and the world's highest free-standing mountain. As such - and aided by its relatively easy ascent - Kilimanjaro has become a major destination for mountaineers and trekkers from around the world.

Although positioned close to the Equator (330 km south), Mount Kilimanjaro is famous as Africa's snow-capped mountain looming over the plains of the savannah. In recent years, however, the snows have been fast disappearing. Kilimanjaro National Park protects the area above 2,700 metres (8,850 ft), on the mountain and includes the moorland and highland zones, Shira Plateau, Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. The Park also has six corridors or rights of way through the Kilimanjaro Forest Reserve. The Forest Reserve, which is also a Game Reserve, was established in 1921; the Park was established in 1973 and officially opened in 1977.

Landscape
=============
The landscape on Kilimanjaro is very beautiful. The mountain can be divided into 5 climatic zones, each with its own fauna and flora. The lower reaches of the mountain are dominated by evergreen forests. At approx. 3,000m the landscape starts to change into a shrub land setting. At around 4,000m the landscape becomes very arid and rocky, similar to a lunar landscape. The fourth zone consists of a very fine glacial scree / silt dessert setting. The top of Kilimanjaro is partially snow-capped with large glaciers interspersed between the volcanic craters. The glaciers have been receding over the past 40 years, though.

Flora and fauna
================
The mountain is rich in flora and fauna. You get to see the various climatic conditions starting from the bushland on the bottom of the mountain to the arctic ice region on top of the mountain. You have the tropical rain forests, the evergreen forests, the moorlands and the alpine desert regions in between. It is something like walking from the equator to the arctic pole in a matter of days. You get to see some unique plants and flowers on the mountain which is specific to Mt Kilimanjaro. Though there is not much of wildlife on the mountain, you can see some wild buffaloes, elephants and leopards while traversing through the Lemosho Route. You are accompanied by armed rangers in the initial day of the trek while going via the Lemosho route.

Tanzania is one of Africa's most iconic safari destinations and a truly blessed land. To say that Tanzania is a special safari destination is an understatement. The country offers a variety of interests for all, as it is endowed with some of the finest wildlife reserves and game viewing in Africa including the Great Wildebeest Migration through the Serengeti - an unmissable event. Added to which are the unique geographical features of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Ngorongoro Crater and the great Rift Valley. The geology of the area is as fascinating as the culture and traditions of the local tribes.

Zanzibar too, has a long history as well as warm seas and stunning beaches. Safaris do not get more rewarding than those in Tanzania.

When is the best safari season to visit Tanzania?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Tanzania is situated just south of the equator, the climate is relatively consistent and daytime temperatures average between 25 - 30 °C; the hottest months are January - February and the coolest is August. Tanzania is almost a year-round safari destination, with two rainy seasons which should be noted.

The Tanzania long rainy season is during March, April and May and should be avoided. Many camps and lodges close during this period as there is high humidity and difficult in road passage. The second rainy season is the 'short rains' which occur in October to November, still offering pleasant sunny afternoons and less frequent and intense downpours. The short rains are a popular time to visit Tanzania as it coincides with the expected (not guaranteed) period when the Wildebeest Migration cross the Mara River. If the main aim of your Tanzania safari is to witness the annual Wildebeest Migration, then the timing of your safari and camp location is highly important. As the majority of the Tanzania northern circuit is at a higher altitude than the rest of the country, it is generally cooler than coastal regions and parts of the Southern safari circuit (which can be a welcome relief)

Many of our clients combine a safari experience with a trip to the Island of Zanzibar thereafter. The best season to visit Zanzibar follows similar patterns to that of the northern safari circuit, with the long rains in April and May to be avoided (and be warned of the heat in January and February). The rest of the year is largely sunny and warm, with water temperatures very pleasant for swimming.

Climbing Kilimanjaro can be attempted year-round (best July to October), but night-time temperatures drop well below zero. For a beach holiday in Zanzibar the best time is during the dry season (June to October).

See in Tanzania
----------------------------
The fabled Serengeti National Park is the cornerstone of the northern circuit safari and home to an inordinate amount and variety of wildlife, including supporting 30 percent of the world's lion population. It is here that the Great Wildebeest Migration originates, as 2 million wildebeest and gazelle continually move in their quest for fresh grazing, better quality water and rebirth. Nearby is another Tanzanian safari icon, Ngorongoro Crater which is the remains of an imploded caldera and literally a wildlife Garden of Eden, with incredible numbers and great variety of game and bird's.

Still in Tanzania's northern circuit are Lake Manyara National Park, famed for tree climbing lions and migratory flamingos, and Tarangire National Park, excellent to visit as a first stop-off on a northern circuit safari. Both however, are overshadowed by the Great Rift Valley, which looms up dramatically next to these parks from the bottom of Lake Eyasi.

A visitor to Tanzania should also consider the southern circuit, encompassing the immense and untamed Selous Game Reserve, remote wildlife reserves such as Ruaha National Park and Katavi National Park. If you prefer an isolated Safari experience, more remote, greater distances (flying between reserves is optional) fewer tourists, than this sort of Safari experience is possibly the best option.

Reviews of safaris to Tanzania
----------------------------------------------
Absolutely loved it!
We really loved ever minute of our African Adventure. Our safari in Kenya and Tanzania was simply wonderful. From day one to day twelve it built into the realizing of a long held wish of an Africa Safari. We were able to get up close to all the wild beasts of Africa. To travel the Masai Mare , Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater seeing the animals and landscapes was committing our wishes to memory. Our sojourn to Cape Town and Victoria Falls rounded off our adventure.

Beautiful Tanzania!
Africa was breath taking, the pictures I took could not capture the beauty, the lushness or the expansive nature of Tanzania!
