Guatemala is a country in Central America with a tropical climate and rich history. It is bordered by Mexico to the north, Belize to the southeast, Honduras to the east, El Salvador to the southwest and Costa Rica to the west. Guatemala is one of two countries in Central America (the other being Belize) that has Spanish as an official language. Guatemala, known as the land of eternal spring, has a pleasant tropical climate year-round because of its position near the equator.

Xela Quetzaltenango, Guatemala 4K | The Land of Eternal Spring | DJI Air 2S
In the highlands of Guatemala, at around 7,640 ft, you’ll find the colonial capital city of Quetzaltenango, or Xela as the locals call it. The Mayan population knows it as Xelaju. While a bit cold in the winter months, this city is sought out by travelers and ex-pats for its fantastic weather throughout the rest of the year. Here you’ll see some local landmarks but to experience the vibrant culture, aromatic coffee and world-renowned chocolate, amazing food, and amazing volcano views, you’ll have to head there yourself.

Guatemala (2024) is a country in Central America. It has a population of roughly 18 million people and its capital is Guatemala City. Guatemala borders Mexico, Belize, El Salvador and Honduras. Green and mountainous with an ancient Native American culture, the Maya culture. Mayan temples and cities are still present everywhere in the country, but nothing resembles the Mayan greatness more than the archeological site of Tikal in the middle of the Jungle close to Flores. But there is so much more. One of the most impressive Spanish colonial cities of the Americas can be found in Guatemala. It is the city of Antigua. From the high mountains and Volcanos like to Pacaya to the lakes, the forests and the Caribbean Sea, Guatemala is the land of the Eternal Spring.

Traveling through Guatemala my girlfriend and I took these pictures.
It starts with the volcanoes of Lake Atitlan, one of the inspirations for The Little Prince's snake eating an elephant picture. Then it transitions to the Market of Chichicastenango, followed by Mayan Ceremonies, Caves, Rivers, Paradise, and the Mayan City of Tikal on the 12th of October where 400 Mayan Priests from around the country gather to pray.
