Some 1,600 islands, thick with greenery, form a maze of channels in the azure waters off northeastern Vietnam. Although people have lived in the region of Ha Long Bay for thousands of years, most of the islands remain uninhabited. But these coves and natural towers are rich with wildlife. For centuries, this spectacular seascape has inspired wonder.
The name Ha Long, Vietnamese for “descending dragon,” is reflected in a legend: Once, when the Viet people faced invasion, a dragon flew down from heaven to their defense. The creature sprayed not only fire, but also jewels that became the green archipelago.
The scientific explanation for the rock formations, known as karst, is also amazing. For millions of years, seashells and sediments fell to an ancient seafloor, forming solid rock. Tectonic activity raised the resulting limestone above water. Rainfall and rivers dissolved exposed rock, and carved valleys that flooded after the last ice age, creating this rare example of a karst field at sea.
Features include lakes and caves through the islands, and notches and tunnels where seawater has worn at the pillars' foundations. The fantastic landscape also continues into two adjacent national parks, on Cat Ba Island and Bai Tu Long Bay.
You can go kayaking, caving, or even take a ride in a seaplane to experience the grandeur of these enchanting tropical islands.

2. Chùa Ông Vĩnh Long
Chùa Ông - Thất Phủ miếu hay Hội Quán Phúc Kiến là một trong những công trình kiến trúc nổi bật của người Hoa trên đất Vĩnh Long. Ngôi chùa được xây theo lối kiến trúc cung đình với năm cửa cái.
3. Khu du lịch Vinh Sang
Khu du lịch Vinh Sang là một trong những khu du lịch sinh thái Vĩnh Long nổi tiếng nhất. địa điểm du lịch Vĩnh Long này có diện tích khoảng 2,2 ha, có khu vườn thiên nhiên rộng lớn, kênh rạch chằng chịt và có nhiều loại cây ăn trái nổi tiếng của miền Tây sông nước.
4. Nhà cổ Cai Cường Vĩnh Long
Với lịch sử hơn 130 năm tuổi, địa điểm du lịch Vĩnh Long này là một trong những nhà cổ đẹp nhất miền Tây. Kiến trúc của nhà cổ Cai Cường Vĩnh Long có sự phối hợp giữa phong cách châu Âu và truyền thống Á Đông.
5. Lò gạch Mang Thít
“Vương quốc đỏ” là làng nghề lâu đời nằm dọc theo sông Cổ Chiên. Mỏ đất sét nguyên sinh này là nguyên liệu tuyệt vời để tạo nên các sản phẩm gạch nung, đồ gốm nổi tiếng cả nước…
6. Cù Lao Mây
Cù Lao Mây là địa điểm du lịch sinh thái miệt vườn sông nước đậm chất miền Tây. Cù lao Mây còn có tên gọi khác cù lao Lục Sĩ Thành, địa điểm du lịch Vĩnh Long này có diện tích hơn 4000ha, sở hữu nhiều vườn trái cây đặc sản khác nhau.
7. Chợ nổi Trà Ôn Vĩnh Long
Đây là chợ nổi cuối cùng trên sông Hậu trước khi đổ ra biển. Ở miền tây có đặc sản chợ nổi tấp nập người mua kẻ bán từ sáng sớm tinh mơ, chợ nổi Trà Ôn cũng bắt đầu họp chợ từ lúc tờ mờ sáng. Mỗi ngày, chợ nổi Trà Ôn quy tụ hơn 100 thuyền bè từ khắp các tỉnh miền Tây.
8. Khu sinh thái Nhà Xưa Vĩnh Long
Địa điểm du lịch Vĩnh Long này tụ hội ngôi nhà cổ nhất Vĩnh Long. Ngôi nhà này có diện tích 450m2, được xây hoàn toàn bằng gỗ quí, theo kiểu 3 gian 2 chái đặc trưng của những ngôi nhà của người Nam bộ.
9. Chùa Phước Hậu Vĩnh Long
Chùa Phước Hậu tọa lạc trên khu vườn rộng gần 2 ha, là một trong những điểm du lịch Vĩnh Long nổi tiếng. Địa điểm du lịch Vĩnh Long này được xây theo kiểu cổ lầu, có ngọn tháp cao 7 tầng ở giữa.
10. Chùa Khmer Phù Ly Vĩnh Long
Chùa Phù Ly đã có tuổi đời trên dưới 350 tuổi. Chùa Khmer Phù Ly là một trong những ngôi chùa cổ của người Khmer Nam Bộ. Chùa được xây dựng theo kiến trúc của Ấn Độ, Thái Lan và Campuchia được hoà hợp tinh tế. Có rất nhiều bức hoạ tích Phật và cổ tích của người Khmer ở trên trần và tường đã tạo nên điểm riêng đặc biệt trong mắt của du khách.
11. Chùa Hạnh Phúc Tăng Vĩnh Long
Chùa Hạnh Phúc Tăng theo tiếng Khmer gọi là Sanghamangala cũng là chùa cổ Khmer ở Vĩnh Long. Chùa được cho là đã xây dựng từ năm 632. Đến thời điểm hiện tại, chùa đã qua nhiều lân trùng tu và sửa chữa. Phía trước gian chánh điện có tượng Phật ban phước lành cao 12m thần thái uy nghiêm.
12. Đền thờ Phạm Hùng Vĩnh Long
Khu tưởng niệm cố Chủ tịch Phạm Hùng hay còn được người dân Vĩnh Long gọi là Đền thờ Phạm Hùng Với diện tích 3.2ha, trong khu tưởng niệm có các 2 hạng mục công trình chính là: nhà lưu niệm và nhà tưởng niệm. Đền thờ Phạm Hùng gồm một chính điện để thờ, phía sau là nhà trưng bày hiện vật của cố chủ tịch Phạm Hùng.
13. Khu du lịch sinh thái Hoàng Hảo Vĩnh Long
Khu du lịch sinh thái Hoàng Hảo là địa điểm du lịch Vĩnh Long nổi bật với nhiều du khách. Địa điểm du lịch Vĩnh Long này có diện tích lên đến 68ha có nhiều dịch vụ vui chơi dành cho cả người lớn và trẻ em.

Ha Long Bay is Overrated (Part 1) #shorts
After doing a 1 night 2 day cruise, our conclusion is that Ha Long Bay is overrated. It was one of the most expensive things we did in Vietnam and our least favourite. Yes, the views from the cruise are impressive, but once you get closer to the water when you go kayaking you’ll see the side of Ha Long Bay not shown on social media: all the plastic floating in the water. It is incredibly heartbreaking. We realize that maybe not everyone had this experience. Maybe it was a bad area, maybe it was bad timing, but this type of plastic is coming from somewhere and does not accumulate overnight. We really hope that this will be addressed in the future and that part of the money collected from these expensive cruises will go towards clean-up and education. There is a better area to visit in Vietnam with similar views and no plastic (we actually saw clean up crews helping maintain this area) and we had a much better experience there. Location of this place will be shared in our next post.

Vĩnh Long is on the Cổ Chiên River, which branches out from the Mekong River at the narrows of Mỹ Thuận about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) upstream, only to meet it later downstream. Across the Cổ Chiên river from Vĩnh Long are the An Binh and Bình Hòa Phước islands, some 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) across, with the Mekong River on the other side. A number of canals run through Vĩnh Long, with tall vehicular bridges crossing them. Transport by boat is possible, although parts of the town, particularly An Binh, become unreachable at low tide. Cai Be is a district with the most extensive fruit orchards in Tien Giang province with outstandingly delicious fruits such as King orange, honey orange, sweet mango, psidium guajava, sweet tangerine fruit, etc. More and more tourists come to Cai Be because the town has a series of communities along the river hidden under the nipa palm rows like a watercolor picture. Cai Be has a rustic beauty harmonizing with gardens and nature.
Vinh Long has a vibe - a relaxed one. As soon as you step foot in this nondescript town in the Mekong Delta, you will physically feel your worries melt away as though you are stuck in a time lapse.
