Griffin is a city in and the county seat of Spalding County, Georgia.[4] It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 23,478.
Griffin was founded in 1840 and named for landowner Col. Lewis Lawrence Griffin.[5]
Griffin Technical College was located in Griffin from 1963 and a branch of Southern Crescent Technical College is in Griffin. The Griffin Synodical Female College was established by Presbyterians but closed.[6] The University of Georgia maintains a branch campus in Griffin.[7]

Virtual Tour Of The Fort Griffin State Historical Site RV Campground
In early June of 2021 I loaded up the Thor Magnitude and headed west to visit the Fort Griffin State Historical State RV Campground and spend a few days RV camping.
constructed by the CCC in the 1930's the Fort Griffin State Historical Site RV Campground was operated as a Texas State Park. In 2008 the park was turned over to the Texas Historical Commission and thus became the Fort Griffin State Historical Site RV Campground.
The facility is pretty much unchanged since the transition. The Fort Griffin State Historical Site RV Campground is a wonderful place to spend a few days relaxing and exploring.
