Canada Road Trip: Best Things To Do In Newfoundland

NEWFOUNDLAND IS AWESOME! In this video, we showcase the BEST things to do in Newfoundland, including St. John's, Gros Morne National Park, Trinity, Twillingate, and more!

Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to Newfoundland!

Newfoundland was our first province during the Road to 150, our 150-day road trip across Canada. We experienced icebergs, fjords, walking on the Earth's mantle, humpback whales, kitchen parties, and swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. But most of all, we fell in love with the people, which is a big part of what makes Newfoundland such a special place.

Canada's Road to 150 was a 150-day Canada-wide multimedia road trip celebrating Canada's 150th birthday by exploring the uniqueness of this country provincially and collectively while answering the question; What makes Canada special?

We drove to and through every driveable province and territory, showcasing Canada's natural beauty and regional attractions while interviewing Canadians of all cultures and backgrounds, including local celebrities, immigrants, refugees, and everyday rural and urban Canadians. Our aim was to dig deep into what makes Canada such an incredibly inspiring country while showing off the best of Canada's tourism to Canadians and to the world.

7 Reasons You Might Not Love Living in Newfoundland

Newfoundland is my favorite place in the world, but there are unique challenges here. Combine these with a few more common challenges, and you might find that this isn't the place where you will live your best life. On the other hand, sometimes all it takes is some advance notice so you can prepare for the hard stuff, and then you won't be caught off guard.

I mention a podcast about Sheila's Brush in this video, here is the link:

I am not affiliated with Product of Newfoundland in any way, but I find myself really enjoying the content on that site, so do yourself a favor and check it out! Must See Newfoundland – 'Off The Avalon' Edition 4K

Newfoundland and Labrador is Atlantic Canada's hidden gem, and it is full of it's own hidden gems. Road tripping around Newfoundland can be a real treat, especially if you know what to look out for. This island off Canada's east coast has a lot of history and there are so many low profile things to see and to do.

Just sticking to the Trans Canada Highway or taking a short detour off the road might lead you to something fascinating, like an insect museum, a small town full of HUGE murals, or a memorial to devastating plane crash. Planning for a longer detour can lead to other awesome adventures, like a drive around the boot of Burin Peninsula. You can also stumble upon absurd landmarks along the highway, if you know roughly where to look.

Newfoundland and Labrador in a Week

I spent a week in Newfoundland. I was originally going to vlog my whole experience, but decided to instead make a video montage of the whole trip.

There are so many places I got to see. Here is a list of some of the places I saw in Newfoundland.

Signal Hill
St.johns
Bonavista
Witless Bay
Trinity
Winterton
Bay Bulls
Carbonear
Elliston
Cape St.Mary
Ferryland

No matter where you travel in the world it is amazing how great of a feeling it is when you make sure to take videos and photos as a memory with a purpose. This is the first time I went out of my way to take video instead of just photos on a trip and it is definitely a great keep sake to know I have this video to look back at. Anywhere I travel in the future I will definitely be either vlogging or doing another video montage.

If you have never visited Newfoundland it is definitely worth the trip and there is so much to explore and see.

Hearts Content, Newfoundland - Canada HD Travel Channel

The “Mile One” of the Trans Canada Highway is in St. John's, Newfoundland. From here it runs on the 4.990 miles across the entire country. For our visit to the Heart's Content Cable Station, we do not take the direct route. We travel from St. John's on the Trans Canada Highway up to the junction to the Highway 71 and from there to the town of Carbonear.
Carbonear, located on the Avalon Peninsula - the easternmost part of the island of Newfoundland - is one of the oldest permanent settlements of Newfoundland.
From here we continue our way on Highway 74 to the Heart's Content. In 1866, after the first telegraph cable successfully landed here, Heart’s Content became a relay station between Europe and New York.
The old equipment in the Heart's Content Cable Station is still well preserved. The end of the cable which once disappeared here in the water and came back to the surface in Ireland still hangs out of the control cubicle.
You can visit the Heart's Content Cable Station during the summer months daily from 10:00 to 5:30.
At the northern end of the bay of Heart’s Content is the lighthouse, built in 1901. His coat reminds of a red white candy cane.
