Miami, Florida Travel Guide - Top 10 Must-See Attractions

Miami is a city located on the Atlantic coast in southeastern Florida and the county seat of Miami-Dade County. The 42nd largest city proper in the United States, with a population of 408,568, it is the principal, central, and most populous city of the Miami metropolitan area, and the most populous metropolis in the Southeastern United States.
The most important places to visit in Miami are: Ocean Drive (the yearlong party atmosphere makes Ocean Drive the most exhilarating place in the United States), Art Deco Architecture (nowhere else in the world would you find such a concentration of colorful Art Deco style buildings), Vizcaya Museum and Gardens (a national historical landmark. It is a European style villa surrounded by lush gardens), Everglades (a unique natural environment. Get close and personal with alligators. Airboat rides are highly recommended), Beaches (some of the country's best beaches are here, and clearly the most fashionable) and many more.
If you want to save time and money, the most important Miami travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

With roller coaster rides, interactive exhibits, and theme characters galore, it’s no wonder they call Orlando the “Theme Park Capital of the World.” Round up your kiddos or tap in to your child-like spirit and get ready to take on the adventures in the Sunshine State.

Visit Orlando and make your first stop the Mouse of House. High-five all your favorite characters in costumes and marvel at the magnificent fairy tale castle. You’ll feel like a kid again as you cheer on the parades and ride in spinning teacups. Nothing says vacation like watching your little ones’ faces light up at the sight of beautiful princesses and dancing mice. Make wishes and wait for your dreams to come true at this magical destination.

Looking to cool down from the warm Florida sunshine? Splash into the water at Wet ’n Wild. You’ll immediately feel refreshed as you plunge down a six-story waterslide, raft through funnels, and ride the waves in the Surf Lagoon. You can beat the heat in the lazy river, or dive right into the pools at Blastaway Beach™.

If you’d prefer some real-world action and educational experiences, take one of the Orlando tours over to the Kennedy Space Center, just east of the city on Merritt Island. This space station is unique in that you can get up close and personal with the space shuttle launch areas. Venture around the rockets and capsules, and meet and greet astronauts to get the inside scoop on traveling in outer space.

Still have enough time for one more stop while you’re in town? Make it Universal Studios®. From tapping into some magic at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ to hanging out with your favorite crime fighters at Marvel Super Hero Island®, this theme park will have you begging to stay longer.

Between wildlife attractions and thrill rides, you don’t have to be a kid to appreciate all the fun Orlando has to offer. Take a look at our Orlando city guide video to get more tips on what to do during your next jaunt in central Florida.

Visit Florida - Tips for Visiting Florida

Heading to Florida to See Disney, The Beaches or Just for Some Relaxing Fun? Here we give you a bunch of very helpful hints, tips and advice for getting the MOST out of your Florida vacation.

Tip #1. Weather Will Affect you - no matter when you come to Florida please know no matter what the forecast says, you will probably get rained on at least for a short burst. Hurricane season is June through November but it is the worst from late August through early October. Always keep applying your sunscreen as well as the sun is very strong in Florida.
Tip #2. There is more to Florida than just Disney and South Beach. Both places are awesome but there is so much more to visit in Florida, like the Everglades or the history of St. Augustine, or heading out to Ybor in Tampa.
Tip #3. Preplan and Prebook anything you can if it is during peak tourist season or it is a popular attraction. If you want to see a certain princess at Disney make sure you are making that lunch reservation two or three months in advance. Also, make sure you search online for deals on main attractions and hotels.
Tip #4. Driving in Florida is stressful. They drive super fast in Florida, except for the tourists who aren't sure where they are going or some of the snowbirds. So be ready for super fast, crowded driving and be ready to stop on a dime.
Tip #5. Use the cheap airlines to visit Florida. We all love getting our frequent flyer miles, but the cheap flights to Florida can outweigh the miles gained on flying a major carrier.
Tip #6. Florida is not the Deep South. Florida is a mix of many cultures and is not your traditional Southern State it has a great mix of latin, Caribbean and southern culture that tourists can really enjoy whether they are partying in Florida or Jacksonville or Orlando.

“Something for everyone in Florida”

Much of Florida is a peninsula of land that juts between the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean; you’re less than a 90-minute-drive from the ocean at any point in the state. It’s a perfect place to catch some rays on the beach or indulge in everything from golfing and fishing to shopping and visiting theme parks.

Florida abounds fun for all category of people.

For Family: Orlando is filled with world class theme parks. One can easily spend even a month without boredom, especially with kids (can you imagine).

For Romantic couples: Beaches, beaches, and beaches. The Gulf of Mexico tends to have white sand and calm waves, while the beaches on the Atlantic side have golden sand and surf-ready rollers. Take your pick.

For Professionals (those who wants to learn something even in vacation): NASA (the name talks for itself), many historic sites like forts in key west, light house in St. Augustine Lighthouse

For Adventurers: Florida is a playground for adventurers. Everywhere you go, the state has something to offer the active traveler (nature hikes, scenic cycle rides, rambling trails), the adrenaline junkie (diving with sharks, soaring over the water with a jetpack) and the water-lover (boating, fishing, snorkeling).

Must see places:
1. Theme parks
. Walt Disney – Disney Animal kingdom, Disney Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, Magic Kingdom
. Universal parks – Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios Florida
. Seaworld Park – Discovery Cove and Seaworld Orlando
. NASA – Kennedy space center
. Legoland Florida

2. Florida keys
. Key Largo, Marathon, Keywest

3. Everglades national park

4. Biscayne national park

5. Beaches
Gulf of Mexico North: Panama City, Pensacola, Destin
Gulf of Mexico South: Siesta Key, Sanibel Island, Clearwater
Atlantic side North: St.Augustine, Daytona, Jacksonville
Atlantic side South: Miami, West Palm, Fort Lauderdale

These places are just a glimpse of Florida.

Miami Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia

With its pristine beaches and palm tree-lined streets, Miami is one of the top tourist destinations in the country.

Start your Miami tour out right with a sample of delicious Cuban cuisine, followed by some Latin dancing. You’ll find plenty of places all over the city to indulge in both, as well as art galleries, theaters, and numerous murals that contribute to Miami’s artistic spirit. Visit South Beach, or SoBe if you’re a local, and admire its Art Deco district, which is full of remarkable pre-World War II architecture.

Continue your Miami sightseeing at iconic Miami Beach, where the streets are lined with palm trees, exotic hotels, and eye-popping cars. Move on to the white sands of the beach itself and lay out in the sun, or try some more physical activities, like paddleboarding, biking, or in-line skating along the boardwalks.

No trip to Miami is complete without a visit to the Everglades and the nearby wildlife habitats, like the Jungle Zoo, where you can get up close and personal with a variety of living creatures. Don’t forget to say hello to the pink flamingos!

Miami - Florida - USA Attractions, Tourism and Vacation

World Travel
Miami - Florida - USA Travel Guide
Miami - Florida - USA Attractions, Tourism and Vacation
Miami travel guide

Miami is almost more Latin American than simply American - famed for its sunny weather, savoir faire, legendary party scene and super-cool South Beach style.

Miami and its neighbouring city Miami Beach are cities of emotion, colour and texture. Much of Miami's appeal is due to its diverse neighbourhoods, which range from towering, contemporary skyscrapers in Downtown Miami (the commercial heart of the city) to Little Havana, home to its thriving Cuban community. Meanwhile, the Port of Miami is the world's largest cruise port.

Miami Beach is world-renowned for its 'gold coast' hotel strip, palatial properties and exceptional outdoor recreational facilities. Its glamorous, see-and-be-seen South Beach neighbourhood is instantly recognisable, with its candy-coloured art deco buildings set against a pure South Florida backdrop of cloudless skies, dazzling blue ocean, pale sandy beaches and swaying palm trees. Beautiful, tanned bodies parade the sands and everyone dresses - or dresses down - to impress. This is a city where sporting speedos on Ocean Drive -- and little else -- will barely raise an eyebrow.

Throw in plenty of celebrity kudos -- the likes of Will Smith and P Diffy are regular visitors -- and the city's glittering reputation is sealed. It started in the 1990s when tv cop show Miami Vice helped to glamorise the city; in essence, the growth of many of its swanky nightclubs and condos were bankrolled by the illegal drug trade and criminal underworld. Today, the city's exclusive bars and clubs draw a host of Hollywood A-listers, jet-setters, models and wannabes.

But there is much more to the city that its superficial trappings of sun, sand and heat. It is fast becoming one of the most exciting cultural cities in the United States. The Wynwood Arts District and Miami Design District are thriving hubs for the arts. Meanwhile, 2013 will see the Miami Art Museum move to new premises in the middle of a sprawling museum park at Biscayne Bay. In 2014, it will be joined by a new science museum harnessing energy from the water, sun and wind, and featuring a 600,000 gallon acquarium and a 3D planetarium. In 2011, the Frank Gehry-created New World Center created waves of excitement thanks to its show-stopping, post-modernist design that offers something else to gawp at in Miami Beach. In addition, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) has recently benefitted from a multi-million dollar refurb that has tripled its gallery space.

Meanwhile, for food aficionados, the city's dining scene offers an eclectic mix. Of course, it pays to try some Cuban food; arroz con pollo (baked chicken with saffron rice) or the ubiquitous platanos (fried plantains) are ubiquitous, as is yuca, a potato-like vegetable. But there's something for every palate, including steakhouses, Japanese, Italian, and New World cuisine, a mouth-watering blend of local produce, Latin American and Caribbean fare.

If you want to explore beyond Miami, then head west to the Everglades, a sprawling flooded wetland and home to wild alligators. Alternatively, seek out classy Fort Lauderdale to the north; bohemian Florida Keys to the south or Biscayne National Park for some manatee-spotting, snorkelling, diving or canoeing.

All this only serves to underline the one ethos that Miami locals abide by: life here is not about work but plenty of play.
