Start with a scenic drive and photo stop on your way to enjoy one of Tortola's beautiful beaches. Swim in the crystal-clear waters or just relax on the beach. Choice of beach is subject to change depending on sea and weather conditions. You'll be brought back to your ship, or you can be dropped off in the downtown area.
Note: Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available at an additional cost. One complimentary bottle of cold water is included. Time spent at beach is approximately 3 hours. The majority of the transportation used are open-air safari type vehicles. Tortola is a very beautiful island, however there will be many curved roads and going up and down hills.

Best of Tortola & Beach | Shore Excursion | NCL
This unforgettable excursion will have you traveling along the coastlines on the Sir Francis Drakes Highway heading through small villages such as Capoons Bay, Apple Bay, Carrot Bay, and then you will ascend about 900 feet above sea level between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Photo stops will be made along the way.
Enjoy stunning views and the different shades of beautiful water. Your knowledgeable driver/guide will keep you constant company as the history and culture of the island is related via the public address system. At Long Bay beach, enjoy a relaxing swim in the crystal- clear water or just relax to the singing of the waves along the seashore.

Tortola by Land & Sea | Shore Excursion | NCL
Your launch awaits at the nearby marina to take you on an exciting cruise among the beautiful islands of this unique archipelago. Listen to the narration by your tour guide and view the southern shoreline of Tortola and the surrounding islands of Salt, Peter and Norman, made famous in legend as hideaways for pirates and buccaneers. Your journey takes you past uninhabited islands and the island of St. John preserved for posterity by Laurence Rockefeller as a nature reserve, before stopping in a secluded cove where a drink is served on board the boat.
On arrival at Sopher’s Hole, the first landing place by European settlers in these islands, you’ll have the chance to enjoy a stroll through the interesting boutiques and souvenirs shops before boarding open sided safari tour buses. The tour continues along the north shore of Tortola driving through small fishing villages before ascending to the ridge road, which twists its way along the ridge of the island offering spectacular views of Tortola and of the surrounding islands. Photo stops will be made before descending to Road Town and through the town to the ship.

Tortola Canopy Tour and Scenic Drive | Shore Excursion | NCL
Board your private transportation for a journey through Road Town. Drive along Ridge Road with amazing views over the north coast of the island. After a brief photo stop to view the islands of Guana, Great Camanoe and Anegada, you’ll drive westward to the Original Virgin Canopy Tour base camp. After a quick restroom break, the friendly staff will outfit you with your gear. Following a brief orientation and safety talk, you’ll arrive at the take-off point of the tour. The tour has been expertly designed for adventurers of all ages (from 5 to 95) and every stop along the way provides you with an amazing I can't believe I just did that photo opportunity that you will want to share with friends and loved ones.
The tour including the outfitting and safety talk and the 7 traverse and other challenge components, will take approximately 1 to 1 1/4 hours, depending on group size and other factors. One element of the tour includes a 1 1/2 story climb (21 steps) up an inclined ladder – but don’t worry, you are attached all the way. Following the tour you can enjoy some refreshments or snacks (not included in the price), shop for souvenirs or just relax and take in the wonderful view from the patio before you board the bus. Stops will be made for photo opportunities on your drive back to the cruise ship terminal.

CRUISE: TORTILLA BVI, Island Bus Tour Excursion
Though there are signs of what the disaster had been when hit by Irma, with car parks full of upturned and crushed cars and debris, the island is back welcoming tourists. There is one main road out of the capital, round the coast, up into the mountains, across the island down and back, so all Island bus excursions are the same, but differ by guide and stops. There is normally always a short beach stop, and this is the beach some cruisers head to.

Tortilla island bus tour. Tortola has a great bus loop up from the main town and port, into the mountains and across the island, coming down back into the town on the other side. That forms the tour, given by all the buses whose drivers where government uniform shirts. Some, like Kitty have a great sense of humour which makes her sought after.
The buses wait in the car parks by and beyond the port. We have a separate film on the Botanical Gardens which are a good walk from the ship.
